Re: [MBZ] OT CL Ads Was CL TRUCK
Like the others said, the pictures are not good. You've got to want to make people take the time out of their day to go look at and buy what you're selling. Perhaps change the wording to say pre-EPA stove. Sometimes people like the know the year of manufacture. That is probably a $200 stove at most unless you find someone looking for exactly that. I would expect people could drive to Ohio and back and get something nicer for the same price as yours. It was a steel drum fitted with a stove pipe, door, and bricks or stones in the bottom. A tube stuck into the middle of the drum dripped diesel, kerosene, or gasoline onto the bricks with a soft foom and flare up every time a drop hit the bricks. The cost of the steel drum conversion kit back then was about $50. It did a good job of moderately heating the four bay shop. There were two refrigerators in the shop; each filled with beer. The mechanics would sip beer all day long while they worked on cars. I wasn't sure the rear wheel bearing they installed in my Plymouth would last, but it made it all the way to California and back and was still in good shape when the car was sold several years later. I tried, the firebrick fits in very tightly with very little gap. It appears the easiest way to get the firebrick out is to turn the stove upside down. It was easier to just muscle it into place. -Curt Date: Mon, 5 Nov 2012 19:26:14 -0700 From: Craig diese...@pisquared.net To: mercedes@okiebenz.com Subject: Re: [MBZ] OT CL Ads Was CL TRUCK Message-ID: 20121105192614.6c654cadf0e1ee363953a...@pisquared.net Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII On Mon, 5 Nov 2012 16:35:45 -0800 (PST) Curt Raymond curtlud...@yahoo.com wrote: Which is why some people get the enamel coated type... Craig is largely right on. Add to that you either need a new camera or better lighting, your pictures are all washed out, it shows everything in possibly the worst view possible. Oh and your trolling for hits at the bottom includes words already in the ad, you don't need to do that and it just makes you look desperate. For these two items I think your prices are too high. The scrap value of the mower is MAYBE $50, last I knew scrap on a CAR was like $200. To get over a hundred you'd have to part it, the aluminum is the only really valuable stuff and theres just not enough. People basically give away woodstoves, I got my Jotul 118 for $200 and it was all cleaned and nice. People want stuff they can install and use not spend a week cleaning up first. Unfortunately your ads all scream This stuff is all too broken for me to want, maybe you are dumber than I am. Try this: Winter is coming, stay warm with with a Buckstove Regular Buck (model 27000) wood burning stove. This stove features an 8 inch flue and blower to help spread the heat around on those cold winter nights. Its also got a screen to allow you open door fires. Enjoy the dancing flames and glowing embers plus the enhanced efficiency of a stove versus a drafty fireplace. This stove was made in the USA by one of our premiere stovemakers who is still in business, parts and manuals available on their website, why buy a cheap junk stove from Asia when you could have made in USA quality for a fraction of the price? This unit has been in storage for the last 10 or 12 years and has a bit of surface rust on the doors and iron frame surrounding the doors. I had a woodstove some years ago, it was getting a bit of surface rust so I took some steel wool and wire brush to it, that did pretty well. Then I put some stove black on it, which was sorta like shoe polish or paste wax kind of stuff. It looked nice for the summer. Then the first time I fired it up, that stuff started burning off (or, rather, smoking off) and stunk up the house and clogged the air with smoke. Not sure why something like that would behave that way, but it might be worth testing whatever stuff out before you polish up the stove. The black paint might be better, but probably takes more prep. --R On 11/5/12 11:43 AM, Dieselhead wrote: That is excellent Curt. A couple of guys can move a 200# stove. Tilt and slip a wheeled platform under and roll away. Now, that maybe assumes you do not have any stairs to contend with but it might still be better than trying to clean and paint it indoors. Our stove at the lake needs a bit of freshening up but does not weigh that much and is withing a few feet of the door. Then the first time I fired it up, that stuff started burning off (or, rather, smoking off) and stunk up the house and clogged the air with smoke. An hour with a wire brush and stove black and its a $400 stove, without that I think its a pretty good $200 stove but who knows. I'd like to think with the more positive ad it would at least get some interest. If it were mine I'd be willing to drop the price to get it gone. Re: [MBZ] OT CL Ads Was CL TRUCK
Saw a unique stove in a backcountry Georgia auto repair shop.
