Showing your (young) age Kaleb!

A "hanging chad" is a partially detached punch-out on an IBM data card. You
probably don't remember people carrying around huge boxes of IBM punch cards,
I've not seen a punch machine in use since 1983 when SIU retired their last one.

The Votomatic system used an IBM punch card with partially cut holes, the voter
used a stylus to push out the one next to the name of the candidated they
wanted to vote for. Needless to say, the card were fragile, and after a few
trips through the reader started to shed un-selected "chads", making them
unreadable.

The major drawback to them in high voting areas is the the tray that caught the
chads punched out by the voter were fairly shallow, and if not emptied often
enough the stylus would hit a pile of punched out chads and NOT completely
remove the selected on. If it didn't come off completely, it would hang onto
the card, a "hanging chad", and if the ballot was handled much, a lot of them
could come loose. So was the hanging chad a vote or not? Impossible to tell.

This is content far more appropriate for Okie Talk, suffice to say that the
courts have spoken regarding the various lawsuits and found all without merit.
Being that they were filed in numerous (different) venues with a wide range of
judges as far as political affiliation and backgrounds, I think the results
pretty much speak for themselves.

I served as an election judge for early voting in MD and on election day.
A substantial number of people who tried to vote in person were denied
since the systems had a record of their request for a mail-in ballot. We
gave them the option of voting provisionally (their votes were to be
counted after a wait of 9 days) or to go home and get their mail in ballot
and drop it off at a secure ballot box or in the voting precinct. This
effectively prevented anyone from voting twice.

Well, how about the evidence that was presented in the ~50 lawsuits that
have been filed? Is that evidence worth looking at?

This link below will take you to a detailed report of the election issues.

Dear readers: before you dismiss this report as "right wing conspiracy",
keep in mind the case of Hunter Biden's laptop. When that October surprise
broke in the New York Post, it was immediately censored, suppressed, mocked
as a conspiracy, and labeled as Russian dis-information. Pretty much a
total blackout in the so-called "main stream media", and even though the
FBI and the Justice Department had the evidence and an ongoing
investigation, they kept totally mum. Now that the election is over, those
very same mainstream media and social media that actively suppressed the
story are now shocked, Shocked I say! to learn that Hunter Biden (and by
association his father Joe Biden) have some explaining to do to the FBI.
This type of hypocritical and manipulative behavior by our 'media' and our
'Justice Department' should give us all pause to carefully consider sources
and be open to really looking at other sources, and be willing to question
what we are told

Understood, but also consider that checks are being made against the voter
registration records as well, so it’s not just a matter of signatures. I agree,
I’ve never been comfortable with absentee/mail in ballots for that reason. I
can’t say I sign my name in a consistent manner, so what I sign one day might
not exactly resemble what I sign today. That’s a concern for me.

Re: [MBZ] This is not political, but a serious question, if you can?t handle it then hit delete

2020-12-17 Thread Meade Dillon via Mercedes
FL is a good example of a state doing a terrible job (the 2000 election,
Bush v. Gore and the hanging chad etc.) and then learning the hard lesson
and making the changes to improve.

It seems that other states are learning that hard lesson too, and if the
voters in those states desire, they can improve their election process and
systems.

Until people actually roll up their sleeves and get involved and do the
work, it won't change. Do the work and fix it if you think it is broken.

I'm also amazed at how many states don't require voter ID. Hard to believe
but true.

Matching signatures on mail-in ballots is not an easy task at all,
especially when the sheer volume is increased like it was this year. Done
manually, that is a huge amount of manhours to sort through each ballot and
compare to each voter registration record. Here in SC we made the State
spend money on scanning machines so that process can be largely automated,
and the easy matches are made quickly by the machines, and the hard matches
are kicked out for a human to decide. In those cases, both parties can
have poll watchers present to review and agree or dispute, and if the
signature is disputed we can ask the voter to 'cure' that ballot by showing
up in person with ID to verify their signature.

Normally, they compare the signature on the sealed envelope with the
signature on the voter registration, and if they don't think the
signatures match, they temporarily reject the ballot and send a letter
to the voter asking them to resolve the identity issue.

This year, in many jurisdictions, it was more like 'who cares if the
signatures match'?

Here in Michigan, the Secretary of State instructed the precinct workers
to open the sealed ballots before election day but not to count them
until election day. That opened up the possibility of shenanigans
perpetrated after the precinct workers could see who was voted for on
the ballot, such shenanigans being the exact reason why the law

Cite the direct sources for this information, please, Roger. Not news media,
the actual sources of the information.

Georgia, like most states, has a process for “curing” votes. Like other
election processes, it’s highly regulated and audited by members of both
political parties.
