If that's the case, it seems suspicious that he hasn't already replaced it. He may be trying to use this as a way to mask a more serious problem, such as no A/C. I once purchased a 1976 300D that was missing its AC pulley belt. After purchasing the car, I had the belt installed but it immediately broke because the rotary AC compressor was seized! Re: [MBZ] this looks like it might be a hell of a deal
The blower motor going out is what quickly lead to my evaporator giving up the ghost. I wouldn't be surprised at all if his evaporator was leaking big time as well. I've been three summers without A/C now just waiting for the nerve to undertake an evaporatectomy. Problem is that since I sold the 300D for a song a couple of years ago I have no backup wheels. Once I tear this thing apart I'm grounded until I get it back together. There was a guy here in Austin trying to sell a 1995 E320 without air for $2900. Of course it also had 197K miles on it. Makes me cry to see these things cheaper than a 1979 300D... Basically if you can't turn the compressor by hand it is stuffed. If the compressor idler bearing is seized you should still be able to turn the compressor but a seized compressor is a great bargaining tool and not that expensive to fix with a S/H one. A lot of people looking to buy a car will be turned off straightaway if the A/C is not working and this leaves the DIYers with cheap cars. andrew strasfogel wrote: > Oh the evil that men do when trying to sell a used Mercedes... > > On 8/31/07, Jim Cathey <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > >>> I once purchased a 1976 300D that was missing its AC pulley belt. >>> After >>> purchasing the car, I had the belt installed but it immediately broke >>> because the rotary AC compressor was seized! >>> >> If the belt is missing, that's the first thing I assume! >> >> -- Jim >> >> > ___ http://www.okiebenz.com For new parts see official list sponsor: http://www.buymbparts.com/ For used parts email [EMAIL PROTECTED] To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

Well, write a letter to Honda America and make them aware, that the manager chose not to respond to your letter of complaint. If Honda don't get back to you then you know that they are selling that much, that customer care can take a backseat. BTW how do you know that the spamming originated from that Honda dealer? archer wrote: > > During 60 years of fiddling with automobiles I thought I'd seen the lowest > forms of auto dealer life, but I recently ran into one even lower. I never received a reply. I never have spam because cookies are always turned off, there is a good firewall, adaware, spybot, crapcleaner, etc.; and all I use this computer for is email to reputable websites, purchases, etc. The only unusual contact I had that day was the dealer. The flood of emails the next day had to be the dealer. > archer wrote: >> >> During 60 years of fiddling with automobiles I thought I'd seen the >> lowest >> forms of auto dealer life, but I recently ran into one even lower. For a while, I had trouble downloading the emails fast enough to keep my good emails from bouncing due to a full mailbox. I of course thought the person from my net rage incident was responsible. It turned out to be the biggest virus outbreak the internet had ever seen, and the timing was just a coincidence. I wish I could remember when that was, maybe 2003?
