Let us hope that your PT is cute enough to offset the... Experience.

Obligatory mb content: I just saw an advert for the certified preowned

us hope that this is an indication of a renewed committment to the
legendary durability that has been made so evident by it's absence in
the 208 and 210 chassis (isn't the 208 just a 210 coupe anyway?)

2010-04-28 Thread Rich Thomas
A few weeks back my auntie calls me about 3PM one afternoon and tells me
I need to get to KY pronto, my dad is in bad shape and might die from an
infection. Dentist had told him he needed a tooth out, he didn't deal
with it, got infected (which he believed to be an ear infection), and
sorta went along for a coupla weeks then just exploded. By the time
they got him to the hospital it had swollen to the size of a baseball.
Doc decided he needed to get in there immediately, so they prepped for
surgery that evening. While that was being done, it actually blew out
his skin on his neck and was oozing stuff out (I know, TMI, but it just
goes to show). I got there late that night/morning, he was doing fairly
well by then with all the stuff cleaned out. Doc said another couple
hours and he probably would not have made it. He is still taking
antibiotics for another couple weeks.

Lesson: deal with stuff like that quickly, esp what seem to be minor
infections or such

Cellulitis is caused by staph or strep bacteria. Staph infections are
very bad (MRSA) and can be life threatening if they become blood
infections (as we now know).

Good hygiene helps (antibacterial soap), but as far as I can tell, it
is not totally preventable.

I had celulitis in my left leg nearly 3 years ago, a very fun
experienceNOT! The leg got very painful, red hot and swollen within a
couple hours, and shortly thereafter, I became feverish. Since the pain
wasn't getting any better by the next morning, I went to the ER and was
admitted to the hospital for 3 days during which time I was put on a course
of IV antibiotics. The strength in that leg hasn't been the same since.
Celulitis doesn't care how old or young you are (I was 34 at the time).

One of my favorite places for sea food is Hyman's on Meeting street;
reasonable prices and the sea food is generally very fresh. First time
you go, tell them you are a local and want a VIP card, and then you get
'head of the line' privileges when all the tourists have flooded the
place. Downtown I also like Moe's for burritos. On Sunday a.m. a place
call Saffron on East Bay St. has a really nice brunch buffet, mix of
local and Mediterranean food.

Beyond that, I'd recommend he take this opportunity to explore local
cuisine by asking some of the female students at C of C or MUSC for
their advice, and I'll bet he'll enjoy their recommendations a LOT more
than mine... Walk toward the King St area and he'll pass through

One of my favorite places for sea food is Hyman's on Meeting street;
reasonable prices and the sea food is generally very fresh. First time
you go, tell them you are a local and want a VIP card, and then you get
'head of the line' privileges when all the tourists have flooded the
place. Downtown I also like Moe's for burritos. On Sunday a.m. a place
call Saffron on East Bay St. has a really nice brunch buffet, mix of
local and Mediterranean food.

Beyond that, I'd recommend he take this opportunity to explore local

Last Dec, I saw a friend who had a blood infection about 20 years
ago. We thought he was a goner, but prayers brought him through. He
is still kicking 20 years later. That is the GOOD news!

Glad to have you back. Cellulitis is an abscess. They are not fun. I had nine
in one year. Fortunately, none of mine were life threatening. You can get them

abscess on the brain. Like I said, glad to have you back.

Subject: [MBZ] OT: Charleston area Restaurants?

Listers:

I know some of you are in the Charleston area. One of my sons is
currently at the FLETC there for USCG "A" school. Any good values in
restaurants to recommend?

TIA,

Greg
