I don't have hatred for them, I just don't like (most of) the ideas that
they promote and the "stories" that are being promoted about them.  I
dislike intensely these old political hacks somehow thinking they have
the answers, when they have been the ones who have created the
problems.  But then I realize they are just fronts for the real power in
the politics, and that puts me off even more (and maybe I hate that and
those people, I guess I do, not particularly individually but collectively).

I also find it exceedingly odd that the candidate who drew the least
support in the primaries, the woman whose "color" keeps changing and
clearly a strong feminist who ed her way into politics and who
called her boss a racist rapist, is now next in line for the job and
everyone is gaga about her when just a few short months ago very few had
any interest in her.

These are perfectly rational reasons for disliking the choices, at least
as rational as any in politics.  (NOTE:  I helped a black woman who was
running as an R for a local County Council seat in her campaign, mostly
because the black woman D we now have is dumb as a rock and a
self-avowed racist and totally useless except as a total tool for
whatever she is told to do by a coupla people.  I kept suggesting we
talk about these rational points, taxes, economy, libraries, education,
things that like that which affect everyone, but this guy she knew who
was also advising her told us that politics and elections have very
little to do with rationality; it is all about emotions and emotional
reactions and feelings.  That kinda stunned me, but it makes perfect
sense because it is true for about 95% of the voters I guess.  Now she
did not make it through the primary but I did get behind her competitor,
a white guy with whom I had a fundamental disagreement about one major
issue but who I knew would be an excellent council member.  He did not
win but made a very good showing, and he and I are friends now even
though we still disagree about this one big thing.  I learned from that
experience that rationality has little bearing on anything in politics,
so that makes me a real outlier in my cynical views on things.)

I kinda the like the idea of citizen representatives, not career
politico functionaries whose primary interest is in perpetuating
the organization that they have been part of for 30 or 50 years or
whatever.  I realize we all have the chance to vote them out every
2, 4, or 6 years but so many seem to become adept at playing the
game, mostly around money and favors and cronyism, that it is
difficult to counter their election propaganda.  This guy who is
now apparently becoming DNC head, Jaime Harrison from SC, spent
$110mil trying to bump out Lindsey Graham, who spent like $100mil,
and lost an uphill battle but did OK in losing.  (That's like $40
per person in the state, probably $80 or $100 per voter)  Ol
Lindsey grows a spine every 6 years, talks big, and most of the
voters who have not been paying attention for the last 5.5 years
get energized, re-elect him again, and then he's back to his swamp
ways.

My opinion is that most of the DC functionaries hated Trump
because he was that outside guy (and his abrasive narcissistic
personality did not help, but hey, he's a nooyawka, look at
Chuckie Shoomuh too) but in general I think the guy mostly did
what he said he was going to do, and that really pissed off a lot
of interests that wanted things to continue as they had been.  We
saw that starting even before the election what with the spying on
his organization by the swamp dwellers and the "dossier" business
from Hills, and it continues to this day.  He has to be stomped
out for good.

But the election has been done, the old guy is the new guy, the
press is now giddy over Dr. Jill's and KHarris's wardrobes, and
life will go on in ways yet to be seen for some period of time.

Good point, I'll concede that.  Plenty of stuff Trump did that I find

Graham, who spent like $100mil, and lost an uphill battle but did OK in
losing.  (That's like $40 per person in the state, probably $80 or $100

To more than half the country. The others just voted against Trump due to
irrational hatred (TDS) with the exception of the few who are too stupid to see
the destructive nature of his socialist policies and the few who are both
losers and failures in life and leech off the welfare state.

Re: [MBZ] Serious question that does not need to turn into a political baby fest

Well said.

Biden is an illegitimate and illegally installed president. Period. The
Republican Party needs to be eviscerated for not backing Trump. I hope a third

power for a long time because of that. But it’s a necessary price to pay to
finally cleanse the swamp rinos out of DC and finally get a conservative
President back in office. The way things are going the Republicans will never
win an election again because the Republicans are too spineless to do anything
about the Democrat’s blatant widespread and systemic election fraud. Hopefully
by that time I’ll be living in Greece so I don’t give a damn anymore. This

My wife, a generally moderate sensible person, lives and breathes social media.
I have been recently accused by her of being a racist, and she was brought to
tears, multiple times, by the fear that Trump would be re-elected. WTF? I
don't
need any more than that to know that I NEVER want anything to do with social

That shit rots your brain.

Ask any engineer what he thinks of positive feedback systems.

Re: [MBZ] Serious question that does not need to turn into a political baby fest

2021-01-21 Thread Jaime Kopchinski via Mercedes
I hate to get involved in these conversations but consider this:

Perhaps what you're seeing is actually designed to increase division
between left and right by reinforcing their preconceived notion people
already have as the "enemy" on the other side. Remember that social media
runs on extremes, conflict, click bait, and extreme ideas. People then
feed on this, share it, reinforce the idea and it spreads like wildfire.
Algorithms make sure you keep seeing the same ideas, not new ones that may
offer a conflicting message. Promoting the idea that "everyone is getting
along, things are getting better" doesn't make much money.

Generally accepted now that there is significant foreign influence in
creating these divisive posts. Lots of it doesn't originate in the US.
Think about that for a moment!

If you haven't seen anything positive on Biden in the last 24 hours, then
you really need to reconsider your sources. I'm not talking about whether
you like what he did or not, I'm saying that the news has been flooded with
what he's been up to as president. He, like any other president from any
party, is quite busy his first day in office.

It saddens me to see people I've known for a long time take on extreme
positions. I believe most people are moderate in their political views by
nature, and we have a huge amount we agree on as Americans. But the
current situation with social media and media in general is ensuring that
we forget that and turn against our friends and family.

I’ve asked that question too and the answer is either nothing or undoing bad
things Trump did ( no mention of any positives) or that Trump is a bad person
and Biden is a good person. No indications of what specific policies would be
implemented although I guess we are now seeing those, but no one I know could
articulate much beyond a coupla sorta marginal things.

Trump made it clear when he announced he was running for president that he was

seen non stop obsessive posts (on Fakebook) bashing Trump. He is now out of
office and I still see this. I do not recall ever seeing any positive posts
promoting Biden and what good he is going to do for our country. With that
said, can any of you help me out and give me your position in support of Biden
that does not involve Trump bashing? I am trying to keep an open mind to find
out what I have to look forward to for at least the next 4 years. If you don’t
have anything to say regarding the positive things Joe is going to do, then
there is no need to post.

Re: [MBZ] Serious question that does not need to turn into a political baby fest

2021-01-20 Thread Dimitri Seretakis via Mercedes
Biden is an illegitimate and illegally installed president. Period. The
Republican Party needs to be eviscerated for not backing Trump. I hope a third
Patriot or whenever party is created just to destroy the Republican Party. It
might not gain traction for a few election cycles and the democrats might be in
power for a long time because of that.
This
country is a joke and our political system is a third world sham.
