Sort of. I would be more concerned about this being a first gen W140. Wiring 
harness (probably dealt with) and AC evaporator are all concerns. Looks pretty 
mice, though.

Some people gripe about the 3.0 liter in the W140, but I’ve driven one and 
they’re really not bad at all. As long as you don’t want that “push you back in 
your seat when you step on it while going 70 mph” experience you get with the 
M119//120, it’s not that noticeable.

What's wrong with a first year 126?
I don't recall any major teething pains.
The nice thing about 1981-1982 is I can buy license plates by weight, 
not by the $30k+ MSRP, in Michigan. A 4000lb car is something like $60, 
as opposed to $150ish for a 1983-1985 S class.

It reminded me of the long laundry list of needs Frosch had when I brought her 
home.  The rust is most likely in the footwells, trunk, and under the hood.  
Also door lowers if the weep holes are plugged.  Sitting outside, there could 
be rust under where the dew settled overnights.  There is a BUNCH of rubber 
parts/hoses to swap out, along with cooling system services, fan, water pump, 
and fiddling with the Djet once the injectors are fixed.   I was ticking off 
all the parts I had on hand that went with Froggy when she sold that would have 
replaced the wear items in the pix here.

It probably could be a driver with some minimal work then work on it as time 
and dineros allow.  Maybe $2500 if it starts and runs but id go $2k on it

Might be location dependent, but the four I've been to had a gate on the
front entrance, a gate on the yard, and a scattering of wrecks on the far
side of the parking lot in between the gates waiting for pickup.

When I had my busted radiator ML delivered (I used my repaired ML to pick
up subsequent purchases) the driver showed up mid evening, told me there
was a keypad at the gate so it didn't matter if he got there after five as
long as I'd already had it moved out of the back yard for him.

I say they don’t let you drive them out but let me put it this way. They bring 
it out with a fork lift and if they set it on the ground, what do you do it it 
won’t run and drive? It may say it runs and drives but that just means it will 
start and move under its own power.

tired of looking at it sitting in the garage unused, or because they
didn't want to pay to fix it?
A donated car that was a regular driver should be fine.
A donated car that was running when parked might be an adventure.
Especially if it's got tiny critters in the fuel tank.

into a single web site. Like “here’s one from Craigslist, here’s one from the 
Auto Trader", etc. In fact, that’s all it was for a while. The auction thing is
