They coudn't help me with tyres for my Metropolitan.
It uses 5.20 X 13" !
The workaround was to remove the wheels and have them mount 155r-13 on
them.

Costco has smart lawyers that will not allow you to fit tires that are
not specifically pass the buck able. If there were to be issue, some
liberal whiner would then sue costco. Best to protect the liberals
from themselves as part of corporate policy.

Re: [MBZ] Tire size calculator

2006-03-24 Thread Robert & Tara Ludwick

It's a corporate decision.
More than one moron has tried to put tires that are way too small on ,
and when they blew out and the car got wrapped around a tree, they went
after the tire shop, same thing with rediculously oversized tires where
someone didn't check clearance and tried to turn and the rubber jamed
into the frame and flipover city time, ( this has happened quite a bit
with the new SUV crowd wanting to look extra cool with t REAL big tires
but no thought to how they would actually work with the vehicle, those
monster mudders may clear when pointed straight, but they drastically
cut the turning radius ) and of course, they went after the tire shop

Just buy tires online or at a smaller shop that doesn't get into all that.

2006-03-24 Thread OK Don
A local tire store just sold and mounted four new Kumho 205/65-15
tires on my '90 300D 2.5 without batting an eye. Must be Costco or
it's manager. It's certainly not a national law, and not an OK law
(pun intended).

i don't think it's a legislative thing - i'm pretty sure that's a
business-dependent decision. if you order tires from Tire Rack or somewhere
else, then have them mounted by that shop I'm pretty sure they'd do it.
