It strikes me as strange since the iPhone 3 was rounded and iirc the first to do so... The iPhone 3 was rounded and IIRC several reviewers thought that was stupid, because with the rounded back component space was sacrificed. Apparently you can pack more electronic stuff into something square as opposed to rounded. I recently bought a used Samsung Galaxy II with Jelly Bean OS. I am amazed at the accuracy of the voice-to-text capability of Android. I never type or swipe anything for text messaging, and only occasionally must type corrections when the OS misses something I've dictated. Results are positive. I only have a couple minor complaints which will probably be fixed once I know more about Android. The biggest positive is predictive typing and autocorrect which are vastly superior to the iPhone 5 I had before, I've played with swipe type a little but while its neat I don't know if I'll ever really get into it. I LOVE the rounded back phone. Why does Apple insist on hard corners? The front edges of my macbook pro cut my wrists too, bad design. Republic's use of WiFi for calls has been pretty flawless. It hands off to cellular nicely, if we didn't not have cell phones I'd consider the $5 WiFi only option for a home phone. Anyway, I'm still getting used to it but all things considered Apple would have to do something amazing to lure me back to a phone that costs twice as much with no advantages. I dictate all of my text messages with my iPhone 5s. Is long as I speak slowly enough, it usually gets everything right. Re: [MBZ] Two weeks with the MotoX
What Tim is talking about is having complete voice control over the phone. For instance I can say Okay Google now theres a pause it and it asks what I want to do (this is all without touching the phone BTW) and I say text Angie theres a pause and it says What do you want to text? and I say I'll be home late, traffic is bad which it writes out, understanding me with frightening accuracy, then it asks if I want to send. All without the phone leaving my pocket... Siri can suck it, she couldn't understand a word that I said no matter how slowly I went. -Curt From: Craig via Mercedes mercedes@okiebenz.com To: Tim Crone bb...@crone.us; Mercedes Discussion List mercedes@okiebenz.com Sent: Saturday, August 30, 2014 8:29 PM Subject: Re: [MBZ] Two weeks with the MotoX On Sat, 30 Aug 2014 20:08:16 -0400 Tim Crone via Mercedes mercedes@okiebenz.com wrote: Have you played with Google Now? I just discovered the voice to text on my LG Optimus, which is a truly awesome phone. I agree with Curt that the auto correct feature is a royal PIA, however.
