Re: [MBZ] W123 in Botswana

2007-11-06 Thread Jeff Zedic
I think it can be annoying in several ways. One, as in the episode last
Sunday here on BBC2, it was a show about them, not really about cars. The
way they always have that staged reality annoys me. The have a car
challenge, Clarkson chooses some oddball car, they all make fun of him, and
then he wins the challenge an he gloats.

I really wish they'd go back to the cars and it'd be even better if the
tried something other than Aston Martins and Maclarens. Give him a British
car and Clarkson will almost always go for it...he's too much of a
buffoon now...what happened to the drier more acerbic wit that didn't spout
his right wing, anti-environment agenda?

I really dislike the way they show how superior the car is to public
transport and he's driving a Ferrari 612 Scaglietti! Let's see now, they all
got there at approximately the same time but Clarkson had a $350,000 car
which will probably run you another $30,000 a year to run and gets 6
mpg.

I'd like to see more about the real cars because there's lots of good cars
here in the UK!

I think a show about the behind the scenes - what it took to make the
show would be even more interesting --

So all car shows are forced to be serious and only talk about the
specifications/handling/reliability/etc of cars? Personally, I like the
change of pace of something funny. How is that show different then a
bunch of guys at a GTG talking about crazy adventures they've been on in
their cars?

I'm not saying it has to be serious all the time but the show has become too
much about Jeremy Clarkson and not enough about cars. Two weeks ago the show
had 8 minutes of carstuff and 52 minutes of Clarkson. Kind of like his
column in the Times14 column inches allowed, 12 used for him ranting,
one to introduce the car and one to summarize...

We all have our own opinions of what wed like. I'm not looking to defend
mine, merely saying what I think. You're allowed to think what you want.

The crazy adventures would be much better if they weren't, like so many
other shows, so highly choreographed.

The only irony of reality tv is that there's no actual reality
involved.I must be getting old
