In perfect shape it might be a $5k vehicle but $4500 might be more realistic. It’s 16yr old but maybe the diesel adds a bit of value. Add up all what might be needed (CP swap figure $1k easy to get a “new” one for $400, maybe $400 for programming, and $200 for fluid/filter, you do the work not paying someone to do it) and back out from say $5k and there’s your number. Let’s see…..Johnny Italiano bought it for $5000 at the auction and when he went to drive it home he learned it was in limp mode. He has it priced at $4000, and told me that he’s prepared to lose his shirt. It for certain needs the conductor plate, a windshield, and tires soon. You can get a good used (or something) refurb for $400 or pull one at a junkyard (that might not be good) for not much and then clone it from the old one. Ok I just picked up an 09 in “limp mode.” Basically same vehicle I guess. Starts right up and runs ok but won’t accelerate very well (which is not really “runs ok” but you know what I mean). It will get up to speed but slowly. A scan with DAS showed 3 or 4 sensors wonky. The Icarsoft wouldn’t talk to the ECU but DAS did, unclear why. A cheap scanner might not pick those up. Seller won't answer the oil cooler question I asked but he did supply the VIN so I ran a Carfax. Two prior owners, 90% of all maintenance/services done at dealerships (CA and WA). One report of "minor" rear end damage in 2016. Having read through the Carfax it seems all the important stuff has been done and maintained, no mention of oil cooler work.
