Exactly! I'm sure I'm not the only person on this list who would be
PROUD to be referred to as a crazy bastard.

Very good point Jim. I guess there probably isn't a diesel that will run
quiet enough to "respect" the Rolls tradition of silence.

Maybe something like that should have an engine that actually makes
power
like a Cummins from a Dodge pickup or if length is an issue a 4BT
Cummins
from a bread van.

But _so_ not quiet. Not really a good match for a Rolls I would think.
Now, a _new_ Cummins 6BTA is pretty quiet, but a lot harder to come by.

I don't think you are going to stuff a B series under an old Rolls' bonnet.
IIRC, the engine is about 37 inches tall, and the oil pan should be eight
inches off the pavement.

Depends on your goal -- what image you want to present. Some people
might enjoy the crazy bastard reputation they'd get from driving a Rolls
that was clattering like a UPS truck. And with all the sound deadening
built into those cars, you probably won't hear it inside as long as the
engine mounts are done well.

Well, it won;t be a drop-in. At the very least you'll have to power
the dual hydraulic pump for the braking system ---

You sure about the mounts? The 6.2 is not a Chebbie block and likely uses
the same mounts as a Buick, Olds or Pontiac.
