Subject: [meteorite-list] Battle Mountain AD/ Field Report

Hello List,

A few days ago I returned from my second trip to the Battle Mountain
area. I found a total of 4 meteorites in 20 days of hunting, a 29g,
32g, 33.g, and a 236g, respectively. Interesting how it works out. I
found my first one on my first day, my second one on my third day, then
went 7 days straight without a find. I went home for a while caught up
on things, and returned to hunt for another 8 days without a find.
Finally, on my sixteenth day (combined days) without a find, with only
2 days left before I have to return home I find BaM 026, a 33.2g
oriented stone with a thumb size regmaglypt of primary fusion crust.
There is a tiny speck of white that I thought was a chip but upon
closer ispection I believe it's where the crust didn't finish forming,
through the glass you can see it lapping over. (This meteorite is for
sale, contact off list.)

The next day, the last day, I found BaM 027 in the first 5 minutes of
hunting. It weighs ~234g with out the 1.8g chip, 236g with it stuck on.
Keith found the chip for me with a metal detector, it was 18 feet from
the stone! We couldn't find the other small peces. Most agree, this is
perhaps the most beautiful stone to come from this fall so far. It's
highly oriented with 4 different phases of crust. A perfectly level
primary crust makes one wonder how large the original body might have
been. Once it bolided this fragment immediately oriented itself,
producing some nice flow lines and a rollover all the way around. There
is a 'drip' of crust that came off and stuck to the side leaving a
small cave over un-burnt, white material that can be seen when you tilt
the stone and look under the drip, I've never seen anything like it.
This rock is for sale. Email me off list with serious inquiries. This
is a world class meteorite worthy of the finest collection or institute.

I'm interested in selling BaM 026 a 33.2g fully crusted and lightly
oriented individual.Taking offers.
I'm interested in selling BaM 027 a 236g oriented specimen, as well.
Taking offers.

The images aren't in any order, just a hodge podge.

Re: [meteorite-list] New Southern AZ cold find

2011-12-13 Thread U.S. Airborne
Hi MikeG I got a pic over on facebook, But will put up some on photo
bucket later. Ya I got a google earth map of all the recent finds across
the US and there are no finds in this location. Yes I will get it sent in to
be classified but there are 7 new finds ahead of it that need thin sections
cut sent in. But before I send it in I gotta work the area over for more
new finds see if there is more of it there , or if it's a loner out
there all by its self. been raining here quite nicely for last few days. So
once the sun comes out it will be time look over the area.

My poor wife's gotta put up with this 53 year old kid. So not sure if she
could handle a 41 yo son as well :)

Hi Scott,

You sound like the adventurer and explorer. I envy your globetrotting
and access to the remote outdoors. You are living the dream many of
us share - hunting meteorites outside your back door. :)

Your clan seems to have a natural affinity for finding meteorites?
Are you looking to adopt a 41-yo son? If I join the clan, maybe I can
start finding meteorites with equal success! I promise to keep my
room clean and do my chores in a timely manner. ;)

Do you have any photos to share of the new finds? And do you plan on
getting these finds classified? You should really consider getting
them classified and check your find coordinates against known finds
and see if your stones are paired with any known meteorites.

Best regards and good luck!

MikeG

A little more background on the fall,

First want to thank Greg Hupe who went with me for trip #2 less than a
week after trip one. I wanted to get more money, get the first stones home
safe and in the lab and back to Kenya. I had to cancel another trip
planned for months with Greg, so only proper thing to do was invite him.
He was most accomodating of the rapid change in continents we were going
to visit when he saw the stones I got from the first trip.

Congrats to Robert Ward who also recovered a stone in the field, saving it
from sure destruction under tropical rains.

We had a lot of fun, we also worked our asses off, dawn to dark, endless
hours of every day stuck in traffic jams just to reach the strewnfield.
Cobras, yes, I am not kidding, Greg had close encounter with a Cobra that
stood up and scared one of our workers nearly to death, he ran from the
field, Greg went to see it but it went down a hole before he saw it. Place
crawling with snakes, I was of course in shorts:) so after the worker came
screaming to the car, I left the field myself for safer quarters.

The people were nice, the secret police found us, threatened us, got to
the point and demanded their cut of the payday to allow us to work. The
usual in Africa, another day, another shilling.

I paid great money to the locals, either for stones or for workers and
supervisors to monitor the workers, money none of them could refuse, most
of them got a year or years of salary for stone worthless to them, changed
their lives. For example the woman who sold me the 3.5 kg stone bought
cows and pigs, went back to give her photos I promised her, she told me
she invested some of the money in livestock, she bought 4 piglets and told
me in a year she would have 20 pigs. she could not afford a single pig
before that meteorite fell and like a gift from heaven, she got more money
than she had ever seen in her life. I will not sell it.

More than one month after the fall, hundreds of deperately poor people
searching, 11.8 kg has been found plus the ~2.5 kg original mass.

I thought more would be found, but not so easy.

I flew 39,224 miles, spent more than $28,000 on expenses, went on safari,
saw things I have never seen, and recovered a meteorite for science and
collectors alike.

Hopefully this is a good thing, but sadly I am sure some will try to
destroy my work.
Thanks for the support from those who like what I do to get you the things
in your collections.

Trying to work on a webpage, but my computer will have none of it, so
giving up for the day. Will try again tomorrow.

agreed initially with my respected and more experienced colleagues,

Hi List,

I wanted to share some exciting news about a phone call I recently
received.

While I was out in the field looking for meteorites I came across some
fossilized bones that were eroding out of the desert ground. I took a few
pictures and showed them to the agency responsible for that area. They
called me the other day to let me know that what I had found was a
Mammoth! I don't believe any Mammoth's have been found at this location
before. I hope to post some pictures of this when I get home.

Re: [meteorite-list] From Meteorites to Mammoths

2011-07-25 Thread U.S. Airborne

Hi Larry
Funny story. I have one kinda like it.
Before I left home in WA State for this Documentary film in the North
Atlantic Sea . I got a call from a

guy that read one of my Meteorite wanted posters . A older fella that builds
logging roads . He does a lot of heavy equipment work . He said he found a
big strange rock on one of his jobs a few years back. It was real rusty on
the out side was sluffing off what looked like rusty stuff but the inside
looked like Iron. He said in all of his time 30 years of heavy equipment
digging he has never seen a rock like
it before. And that there are more at this same location. But he just kept
the one.

He said it was about 18 ft underground He loaded it with one of his tractors
into his truck took it home. He said he would pay my gas to drive up
look at it when I get home in Sept. Sounds like a good lead So I will go
have a look see when I get back.

Greast find Sonny!

You never know what you'll find when you go looking.

About 6 or 7 years ago I was working as an electrician on a big industrial
new build, and thinking I was being funny, asked the guy that had the
excavating contract if he had ever dug up a meteorite. He said, No, but I
once dug up a Wooly Mammoth! Turns out that he dug it up in the town of
Lake Orion, only about 10 miles from my house.

Too bad he didn't say that he did dig up a meteorite and then lead me to a
giant iron or something.

Happy Hunting,

Hi List, I wanted to share some exciting news about a phone call I
recently received. While I was out in the field looking for meteorites I
came across some fossilized bones that were eroding out of the desert
ground. I took a few pictures and showed them to the agency responsible
for that area. They called me the other day to let me know that what I had
found was a Mammoth! I don't believe any Mammoth's have been found at this
location before. I hope to post some pictures of this when I get home.

Hi List,

Here are a couple of photos from my Gunlock meteorite hunting trip. From
the mapping program and google earth it looked like a simple trip. The
trip was anything but simple. With a Big Gulp in hand I started down the
graded road to the second fork to the North. The road turned into an ATV
trail and the planned route was washed out. My map showed three separate
trails leading to to the meteorite find location. To make a long story
short 6 hours later I arrived at my destination which I thought would only
a couple of hours at the most. I would recommend a four wheel drive
vehicle or ATV. The majority of the trail was four wheel drive only and
the slightest amount of rain could make the trail impassable. Due to the
location and condition of the road I could only spend a few hours hunting.
I will have to return when I can spend more time.

The trip was not a waste I did make a new meteorite find at a different
location.

Dear List,

A few people on here already know, But on 4-9-2011 I found my 1st
meteorite here
in Butler county Ohio.(very oriented, thumb printed) On the 11th I had a
job
interview and got hired on the spot after being laid off for some
time.(Talk

about finding your lucky star)

Then on 4-16-2011, I find a broken fragment of a second chondrite on the
same

farm, which is sitting on a glacier morian.

Both of these are so different, But they are chondrites. In the past
month I
find 5 other stones that look like they could be Achondrites, (will post
later)

I have no interest in selling meteorites, I think these should go to our
local

Geology museum which has a cool meteorite display.
6 yeras I was on a mission to find a meteorite, I think now it is
complete. I

found these out side the small town where I grew - up

These would be the 1st chondrites found in Butler county Ohio. The only
other

meteorite found here is the Fairfeld meteorite (iron)

If all the other suspect stones turn out to be meteorites also, then a few
miles

north of where the last glacier ended in ohio, Indiana

and Illinoise is where meteorite hunters should be looking. I think the
sandy-gravel soil drains water quickly, and meteorites may be perserved
longer

then people think.

Also I have found 40+ artifacts since april, this farm I had found
artifacts 25

years ago. will post them also. The soil is only 8-10 deep on the glacial
morian, 5 paleo points have found here, I found 3 of them, Most of the
artifacts

are Adena Mound builder material.

But here is the albums of the two meteorites.

Re: [meteorite-list] Meteorite fell near Wynndel

2011-05-24 Thread U.S. Airborne

Hi All
I spent two days hunting all logging roads north NE of Wynndel B.C. for
this visitor or visitors from space. All roads end just at top of hill in
3ft to 4ft of snow. Logging companies only snow plowed the roads to there
present logging truck loading areas. I did find some real nice Paraglider
launches at the top near the lake side ridge just north of Wynndel ,wish I
had my PG wing with me a driver as cloud base was nice high. also hunted
3a the road on east shore of both lakes going north. Some hunting in fields
north of town then spent a day hunting the HWY 3 to the east and the Goat
river forest service roads that are just east of the projected fall area.
The snow melt has all creeks river at Max flow with some flooding in
areas. Snow level is low but once it melts off opens up the roads I fill
that there is still a chance for some one to stumble across some meteorites.
I do have to say the timber brush is really thick in this area. So finding
one will surly put a feather in your cap. Even thou I found no new finds on
my hunt. I did fully enjoy the hunt and being connected to mother nature and
seeing all the wild life. I did post a lot of my Meteorite wanted posters
around the area and talked to some logger that log the area. So now iam just
waiting for that call from a Logger telling me he has my 10 KG meteorite
.When I get time I will post some pics

http://www.dailytownsman.com/article/20110524/CRANBROOK0101/305249994/-1/cranbrook/meteorite-fell-near-wynndel

Meteorite fell near Wynndel

Last weekend's meteor over Cranbrook would have fallen north of Wynndel,
experts have calculated.
A Finnish astronomer, Esko Lyytinen, analyzed footage from meteor cameras
in Cranbrook, Saskatchewan, Penticton and Calgary to determine the
possible location of meteorites from the fireball.
He went frame by frame through the video and he enhanced the stars so he
could know the position, explained Rick Nowell, physics lab technician at
the College of the Rockies.
According to Lyytinen, the meteor entered the atmosphere at a height of 79
kilometres. Initially weighing 20 kilograms, the meteor broke apart at
least twice before dissolving into a trail of gravel. The flashes caught
by the camera indicate the explosions.
Last week, Lyytinen drew on a map the area in which he believes the
meteorites may have fallen. On Tuesday, he emailed The Townsman to add
that he has received new footage, and he advises that the line should be
continued up to another 10 kilometres further west.
I will not give at this stage a new map, but it looks probable that it
fell down more to the south west than the line or ellipse, said Lyytinen.
It probably had a bigger entry velocity and higher beginning. This would
also mean a somewhat smaller (than earlier expected) meteorite size on the
ground.
Still, meteorite hunters could head north from Wynndel and search east of
Duck Lake. If there is snow, Nowell said, look for a hole in the snow.
Otherwise, take a metal detector.
Your metal detector would beep as it goes over it and a magnet would pick
it up. It probably has a lot of nickel and iron in it, said Nowell.

The meteor probably came from the asteroid belt, Nowell added.
Usually they have little indentations in them. The rock will be smooth,
but with lots of little dimples in it where it evaporated. The atmosphere
sandblasts it coming down and melts it a bit, he said.

The meteorites' value could range widely.
Common iron meteors can range from $.50/gram to $5/gram, rarer stoney
meteorites $2 to $20/gram, and really rare ones $100 or $1000/gram or
more, depending if they have embedded gems or if they're from Mars or the
moon, said Nowell.

2011-05-18 Thread U.S. Airborne
Hi Chris The weather just broke today here in Eastern Wa. So Iam headed up
to Creston to have a look about. In my younger years we did a lot of hang
gliding there with the local pilots. I would love to speak to any eye
witness that say they saw it plung into the lake. Or saw it there in
Creston before dark flight. There was a moon out but I fill that it would
be quite hard to see at night unless it was a real monster in size. In that
case I bet the sonic boom was a really loud one that raddled a few window
panes in the area.

I should be there by 3 or 4 this afternoon . My cell is 509-780-8377
Any one else up in the area hunting can contact me if you want to meet up
for dinner at the local pub.

Dreaming of great finds in B.C.

[meteorite-list] 4 lake bed hunt, New Lake Bed finds

2011-05-09 Thread U.S. Airborne
in 1 winter this area totally changed. I followed some
ice rafted rocks and some other debris like old rubber tires that all got
blown across the lake bed in super strong NE winds likely frozen lake bed.
So we followed the signs hunted the western shore line where it all was
blown into. Within 15 min of hunting that shore I located a nice 30 gram
meteorite that feels like a H to me. Terri hunted her butt off but nothing
else reviled itself to us all morning. By noon the lakebed was a blow down
we had to leave. It was a total white out of dust very difficult to drive
or find our way off this now dusty mess. I found my tire tracks followed
them off in the white out. Terri was driving the Kawasaki side by side off
she surely ate lots of dust on her way off the lake bed. The blow down
happened very quickly lasted for the afternoon. We are now in Ca. teaching
flying I got to say I wish I was back hunting for flying rocks. On a great
note, my wife Terri is hooked big big time now on meteorite hunting. And I
got to say she is quite the hunter gal. Also, Larry is quite the fun
knowing meteorite hunter great to hunt with. Now back to important issues
in trying to figure out where to hunt on our way back home to WA State.
Happy hunting to all!

Greg, Jim, List,

I found something while following up on a meteorite lead, a story of a
witnessed fall by a farmer who picked up a 25 lb. rock that supposedly
fell
right in front of him. Many years later the great grandson wanted to get
the 'meteorite' but it was nowhere to be found.
He enlisted me to search the property where the farm once stood and I
found this enigma in about an hour. When the great grandson saw the rock
still setting on the ground where I found it he got really excited about,
saying that he recognized it, I had found the 'meteorite'.

I almost hate to dredge this story up but it is relevant to the thread.

I found the rock in 2001. Within 3 weeks of its discovery and after
passing through
the hands of several esteemed meteorite experts It was sent to the
U.S.Dept. of Energy for

Al 26 counting. It was deemed by the
U.S. D.O.E. not a meteorite due to a lack of Al 26. When I asked what it
was they said they did not know, they were so certain it was a
meteorite that they tested it for 100 times less Al 26 than
they expected to find in a
normal meteorite but still found none. I was told that it is a rock
unlike any they had ever seen, perhaps from Disko Island (due to its Ni
content) but not like anything they had seen from Disko Island. Since
then, samples of it have been archived at three different Univerities
for 'future study' should anything arise (or fall) to justify it. My
own amateur research indicates to me that it may possibly be some sort of
impact

debris, possibly related to the KT impact. Two main reasons for this
potential conclusion are the fact that Argon dating puts it at the
right age, 75 ma. + / - 10 million, and the fact that there are some
unusual crystals, tiny Cr spinels with a peculiar feature that are only
found in one other place on Earth, the KT boundary layer. Those
crystals, (in the KT) are pseudomorphs after spinel and the dirt
immediately adjacent to the xtals is enriched in Cr. suggesting a
possible relation. These crystals in the KT layer are thought to have
condensed and
precipitated from the plume that shrouded the planet. There is another
camp that thinks the xtals may be from the impactor.

To address Jim Wooddells concerns, let me say that I was told flat out
that the reason they couldn't or wouldn't take this to the final
conclussion was simple, it could jeopardize future funding and
professional reputation. It seems that if a scientist spends a bunch of
money and wastes a lot of time on an object that turns out to be
nothing, monies and reputation are at stake. I can understand this I
guess, but it seems like a sure way to ensure that the really odd stuff
will not be recognized unless it's an irrefutable witnessed fall.

Of course it could all be a big coincidence, just a man made rock that
fooled the Argon dating process. Some have scoffed at it saying it is
nothing unusual, but the majority of experts say that it is a very unusual
rock.
This is evident when looking at a sawn surface, you ca see that it's made
of minerals with texture, it looks nearly

identicle to D'Orbigny. In fact, several experts thought it was
an angrite at first look. When I saw D'Orbigny the first time in ET's
room I almost fell

wasn't cloudy, but it went in and out of view 4or 5 times. It was awesome.
Incredible fragmentation, large pieces that had there own trains. It was a
glowing train with parts breaking off. There were some clouds so my line of
sight was a little broken up. ))

Iam really ready to go hunt some fresh meteorite falls this month, as i
Just got back home to WA State from my Florida airshow that I gotta do
yearly. Last week during the show a tornado tore down the runways airshow
grounds damaged about 70 aircraft ( updated tally of damage from FAA).
Luckily my two show aircraft survived as we broke them down stored them in
a 24ft trailer. My heart goes out to all my fellow aviators that lost there
dream aircraft to this big Florida storm. Luckily no one was killed .

Sure ready for some of these April green NEO to help produce some meteorites
on the ground out here in the western USA.

I wonder how many SR hunters headed to TENN. to give it a look over ? Were
there ever any reports of sonic booms any where near the area? I did not
read of any my self. looks to be a mixture of small pastures farm fields,
Lots of Trees some water. If any ones out there now I hope you get some

2011-04-09 Thread U.S. Airborne
Wow Marc that news got the adrenaline pumping . Opheim, MT looks to be
winter wheat farming country, with areas of range land around that. Its been
snowing on off here at my airpark in Wa. But the snow melts quickly once
the sun comes out. Temps in Opheim MT. are mid 40 day mid 20 night till
Thursday Friday then 30 percent rain snow. Thanks a bunch Marc.
Looks like I might need to load up the Lance camper on to the Dodge drive
north into Cold windy N.E. MT for a week. Waiting for a bit more intel
before I hit the highway

Howdy all

I've got limited internet access at the moment, but could someone have a
look at the town of Opheim, MT as the possible location of the
Montana/Saskatchewan fireball reported for 07 Apr 2011, ~0920 UTC?
Specifically, a location southeast of that town but not over the county
line.

This fireball was reported on AMS as event 381a and 382b.

 Approximate coords: 48.746170 N, -106.190109 W

I see a potential meteorite signature in data from the KGGW radar near
that location, with radar returns from near ground level up to ~84,000'
altitude. Rob Matson and others, could you check me on that?

Cheers,
Marc Fries

[meteorite-list] Mayanites- a New Tektite Strewnfield

2011-03-20 Thread U.S. Airborne
Hi Brian That is quite interesting news about a new tektite strewnfield up
by Chaa creek there on the western edge of Belize. Mick the owner of Chaa
Creek resort is a good friend and one of my aircraft buyers there in Belize.
I have to fly down to Belize in a month of so and will be up at Maya flats
airpark Chaa creek. So I really hope I get some spare time to hunt this
area. I do have hundreds of Aerial photos of this area of Belize . So if
you would like to see any just ask. Lots of great pics of the newer maya
digs on the Boarder with Guatemala.
please keep us up to date on your Belize hunting adventures. Maybe you
should take me with you on the next trip so we could do some flights with
video pics over the area. lots of jungle out that way.

here is the link to Micks web site
http://www.chaacreek.com/belize-travel-blog/2010/09/a-new-tektite-strewn-field-discovered-in-western-belize/

I do have a Qs for you Are there any web site you know of out there that may
have info on maya digs that have tektites' in the maya ruins ? I have found
some found in Tikal not to far from western Belize.

I have been all over Chaa creek on horse back and all of the hills jungles
around it are all Maya ruins covered by jungle growth . But Mick cant do any
digs on his own land or the Belize government can seize his land for doing
so.

Have fun down there in Belize.

Subject: SPAM-LOW: [meteorite-list] Mayanites- a New Tektite Strewnfield

The enigmatic tektites that were previously reported from Mayan
archaeolgical sites (Hildebrand and others) in Guatemala and Belize
have now been found in geological context. They have been reported
from the Cayo district in Belize where a few recoveries have been
made. An article about them is on the Chaa Creek resort website and
an abstract by Hal Povenmire was presented at the Lunar and Planetary
Science Conference last week in Houston, TX.

I made a trip to Belize in early February with Hal in order to confirm
the findings and will make a second visit in a few weeks. Several
locations were hunted and two of them produced samples of these rare
stones. The vegetation is dense and hunting is difficult. Much more
field work will need to be done in order to determine the size and
extent of the strewnfield. It will likely extend into Guatemala and
perhaps further.

Happy hunting,
Brian

Subject: [meteorite-list] Congratulations Todd Parker

Hi List,

I would like to congratulate Todd Parker on his new Arizona chondrite
discovery. I had the pleasure of hunting with Todd Parker and Larry Atkins
recently in the Arizona desert. While Larry and I were sitting on a hill
taking a water break with Brix, Larry's phone rang with a very excited
Todd on the other end. We could see him down below us, so we quickly
rushed over to see what he had found. We saw a beautiful chondrite in
situ. Todd was recording his find and preparing to take a photograph when
Brix ran up and gave the meteorite a sniff and a lick. Todd was the first
one to see the meteorite and Brix was the first (and only) one to lick it!
: ) It is a 30-40 gram chondrite with fusion crust and visible metal
flakes on on the broken end. It looks like Lawrence may have another
meteorite to classify from Arizona. Congratulations Todd!

Hello List,

This is my first youtube video, no music, no credits, nothing fancy. I
just wanted to poke a little fun at myself and share some of the
excitement I get when finding meteorites.

It's 2 clips, the first is from Franconia. It's kinda funny, I seem to
take this documentation stuff serious!

The second clip is from Mifflin. It's a brief, intimate view of my passion
for meteorite hunting. If you were one of the few people that got a piece
of my find you certainly need to see this! It's like you got a tiny piece
of my being.

[meteorite-list] Cargo Muchacho Meteorite hunt (Bill Sajkowicz where are you?)

2011-01-17 Thread U.S. Airborne
 and we
passed each other head on. We both had a surprised look on our faces as we
slid by each other. Both of our 4x4 units had meteorite hunting sticks
pocking out the rear.
We were both on our own missions and just gave a smile and a nod to each
other. A bit later I kicked my butt for not stopping to talk with this fella
as I had a inner feel it was very likely the rare bird himself Bill
Sajkowicz out doing what he does so well.

Terri I had a great month playing hunting around the Cargo Muchacho
Mts. Our base camp was on one of my pilot friends 120 acres that was once
the Pilot knob DWTC. It was kinda sad leaving as it stays so nice warm
around this area all winter. The desert pavement at camp was great for
flying off of, So I did a bit of fun flying during our stay.

For Jan we relocated to a new Meteorite base camp 10 miles SE of Parker AZ
. I grabbed a hanger for my sport aircraft here at Parker airport , and
have been out hunting for new finds. Flew out to Danby checked to see if
its dry yet. Then Terri I went and spent a full day hunting it. Now Iam
back hunting Desert pavement sites I located by flying that looks promising.

On our was north to Parker we stopped in at Quartzsite and I picked up a
nice little Mars Shergottite complete stone with fusion cut NWA 2375. Thanks
Much Mohammed ALI HMANI it was great meeting you doing biz with you. Now
I got a little of plant mars living with me.

Next new project is to Fly low level over the Old Woman Mountains . I want
to see if I can spot any areas in the area of the old woman find that look
like it could be in impact scar, or just anything out of the ordinary. I
hope to film it in HD.
On Google earth just NW of the O.W find location is a BIG JET? At 1st it
looked like a crashed jet. But thinking more about it I feel it's a Jet in
mid air flight Google earth took its satellite pic as it was flying.
Anyone know if there is a crashed Jet NW of O.W. MTS?

Trying to figure out now if we can come visit the Tucson show that's coming
up quickly . It would be fun to meet yall and put faces to names

If your out there Bill Sajkowicz I would love to talk with you.

I will get a link to PIcs ASAP

Have a great day

[meteorite-list] Happy Holidays from the Sonoran Desert M Hunting camp

2010-12-19 Thread U.S. Airborne

Happy Holidays from the Sonora Desert .
We got 5 hours of FOG here in the desert today, kinda strange. Only have
seen it twice before in my life.

Its been quite a long time since my last post to the list, as I had to go
back to my job teaching folks to fly

for a few weeks. I wanted to Wish you all a great and wonderfully joyous
holiday season. I also wanted to say congratulations to all the folks
that have made 1st finds lately. It is truly a out of this world feeling
finding space rocks that flew in from outer space. Kind of hard to explain
it
to folks off the street what a truly amazing thing it is. Also a big
congratulation to the

Hunters that have had there finds classified as of lately. Great job to all
of you. I finally got my Nov. Ca. find cut open she looks lovely. We have
been hunting the Sonora desert the last few weeks and I have
found some quite strange things I must say. But nothing that I can for sure
say yes it's a meteorite. I got a few that need cut looked at inside.
I just gotta say Meteorite hunting is so fun exciting to do that it really
does not matter if you bring home the space rocks on every hunt. I just love
just being out there in the middle of nowhere playing with mother nature ,
taking pics, smelling the different smells of the desert. Finding strange,
weird things trying to figure out what the heck they are. Finding strange
rocks that could possibly be a rare meteorite then researching them,
Studying the earths colors textures on Google earth then going out and
flying over it in person. Then

hunting those areas you have studied in detail. Cutting , slicing, and
polishing all my great finds. And now the excitement of getting special
finds classified by Science to see what type of Meteorite
I found. The excitement just keep growing. Now with new dreams of hunting
fresh falls from around the globe . Plus studying old falls that need to be
looked over again and again. WOW, I feel like the luckiest guy on earth.
I wanted to send a special thanks to some of my fellow meteorite hunters
for

all you have done this last year to make my journey into the world of
meteorites easer by watching videos and reading your stories of Hunts from
around U.S. and world. Out here in the desert I don't get T.V. stations to
watch. So I have now down loaded my favorite TV show onto my laptop. I now
have both seasons 1 and 2 of Meteorite Men to watch any time I wish. So a
special thanks to Robert Verish Moni, Rob Matson , Ruben Garcia, Steve
Arnold
and Geoff Notkin , Sonny Clary , Count Deiro, And John Harrison my Id M
hunting buddy. Plus my wife Terri for putting up with crazy me all the
crazy wildly fun things I love in life. There are many many more so thanks
all of you.
Happy Holidays and Happy Meteorite hunting over the Holidays . May you find
that rock of your dreams.

Best Regards
