As others said, one find has been confirmed, estimated at 100 grams and found
near Saint-Pierre-le-Viger in Normany, by the Vigie Ciel / FRIPON team.
I have very high confidence in my search area prediction, since the trajectory
was derived by two independent sources (UKMON and IAU MPC) and the wind data is
good.  My simulation input data is attached. Let me know if you have any

 Dear Fellow Collectors,
Hope you are all doing well.

Available here is a very rare specimen of the Uwet meteorite. Supposedly a
witnessed fall in 1825, it was venerated as a source of prosperity by the
locals for decades. It was removed temporarily by English colonists in 1903 and
sent to the British Museum. As the story goes, the town of Uwet subsequently
fell into devastation amidst a Smallpox plague. The locals attributed this to
the removal of the meteorite, and the town is said to have prospered ever since
it was returned. Less than half the 55kg mass currently resides in the village,
with another ~28kg spread out over various institutions, the bulk of this in
Heidelberg.

This specimen originated from a larger portion sold by Eric Twelker. Afterwards
reduced by Russ Kempton. Now weighing 12.86g. It has a small inclusion and also
displays an array of prismatic rhabdites which are a characteristic of Uwet.

Asking 770$ with shipping included

Please inquire for photo.

Re: [meteorite-list] New UK VAT Requirements

2021-01-12 Thread MSG - METEORITES via Meteorite-list
Hi Mike,

Yep, sadly correct if the value is less than £135. Crazy! So you as a
vendor would have to register for VAT with UK authorities, charge and
collect 20% VAT on behalf of the UK government then file quarterly VAT
returns and pay the UK government what you've collected on their
behalf

Madness!

Cheers from across the pond.

Re: [meteorite-list] [IMCA List] Dave Gheesling

2020-11-12 Thread MSG - METEORITES via Meteorite-list
Sean,

Just devastated to wake up this morning and hear this sad sad news. Dave
was an inspiration to many, me included. He was so kind and generous and
was a huge figurehead for the meteorite community. If he talked, we
listened and with good reason. He often uttered the deepest and wisest of
words in such a humble manner. He will be missed by us all.

My thoughts are with Maddie, Kasia and all his family.

2020-05-22 Thread MSG - METEORITES via Meteorite-list
(FREE AD 2 of 2 for 2020)

Hi all,

I have a 7 gram part slice of historic Wold Cottage with fusion
crusted edge for sale. This piece has perfect provenance from the
British Museum to Jim Schwade to Mike Bandli to myself. It comes with
original labels from all and a copy BM label (as this slice was cut
from Jim's larger piece)

To add some extra clout and display potential to this historic
specimen I will also include the following:

- A half brick from the Wold Cottage monument that was erected in 1799
to mark the fall location. Personally collected by myself with
permission from the owners.

- An empty bottle of 'Falling Stone' beer

- A 12" X 8" archival printed photo of a view of the Wold Cottage
monument that was published in Meteorite Magazine.

Open to offers over $300 per gram

[meteorite-list] AD - Tucson is just around the corner!

2020-01-21 Thread KD Meteorites via Meteorite-list
Hello to Everyone!

Can you believe that Tucson is here already? lol

We want to invite everyone to come check out our room this year - we
will be introducing our newest endeavors this year and they are
definitely worth seeing!

We will have our usual stunning Pallasites, Irons and Stones; some
unbelievable new meteorite blade pocket knives and Meteorite Damascus
pocket knives; and way too many other meteorites to list here.

We will also be offering Copper from Michigan! You have got to come
see it to believe it - we have specimens with silver as well as copper
slices. And please ask us about "The Scorpion King". :-) You will
definitely want to see this!

Another new item we will be offering are Lake Superior Firelights -
also known as "Yooperlites". If you haven't seen these they are
totally cool! Only found on the shores of Lake Superior, they light up
like they are on fire if you shine a blacklight on them. We will have
one that weighs 295 pounds - it is pretty impressive!

Lastly but certainly not least - we will be offering the Brazil
tektite. I received these from the original finder - very little of
this material has been offered to any collectors, so stop by and check
these out too.

Don't forget that Matthew Martin and Natural History Lab is sharing
the room with us and will have a wide variety of beautiful meteorites
as well!

We are looking forward to seeing you there!

Cheers!

Hello!

We have added some exceptional meteorites to our website!

Check out these amazing full graphite slices:

painstakingly restored them to their natural beauty, without altering them.
These specimens still have some fusion crust, flow lines and green
crystals! The discerning collector needs one these in their collection!
There has only been a small amount of this material recovered - the hunting
area is at a high elevation and is difficult hunting, so this may very well
be all that we ever offer.

Check out our What's New page for everything that we have recently added
too!

Hello to everyone!

It's winding down to the Tucson Gem Show and we have some very
spectacular Sericho Pallasite slices we will be bringing with us.
These slices are very translucent at 3mm thick and above. Almost equal
parts of green and yellow crystals on these slices, with superb
translucency. They are completely Stabilized by us, and will make the
perfect collection slice as they are not paper thin; and have
excellent crystal color.

You can follow this link to see a sneak peak of the material we are
currently processing and will have available soon!

http://kdmeteorites.com/SerichoPallasiteforSale.html

We also have some Brahin that is almost completely green; with
translucent crystals at 4mm thick. These slices are beautiful, and
rarely seen. Our Brahin Pallasite slices have been Stabilized by us as
well. Look at the metal to crystal ratio on these slices: it is
stunning! The link below will take you to a sneak peak of the slices
we will have available at Tucson.

facing room and we look forward to seeing you there!
We will also set up at the Mineral and Fossil Marketplace, Booths R3 and B3.

These specimens are not in the meteorite bulletin as they are labeled.
This means that the provisional name or the field name was not used as
was assumed at the time of labeling. So one would need to take each
specimen one by one and do a little detective work via the internet to
determine it's true name and then to see if it has been classified.

I'm just to lazy to do it, so a little research can save you money!

[meteorite-list] A special request

2016-12-09 Thread KD Meteorites via Meteorite-list
To the meteorite community:

We were Larrys' "other" family, and I know he touched so many of us over the
years in many different ways.

I would like to ask anyone who has any pictures of their times with Larry and
any stories of Larry to please email them to me. I would like to create some
memories of how Larry touched all our lives throughout the years and share them
with his "biological" family. :-)

I think it will warm their heats to know how special he was to so many of us.

So please email your pictures and stories to me at:

meteoritel...@yahoo.com

I will also update you with the funeral info once it has been decided.

Thank you.

Dana

[meteorite-list] Sad News :-(

2016-12-09 Thread KD Meteorites via Meteorite-list
I'm sad to tell everyone that we lost one of the best men I ever met; Larry
Sloan. He was a very well respected and loved man, always ready with a smile
and some of his natural remedies! He loved everything meteorite and will be
missed greatly at the shows.

After I lost my dad in 2006 Larry stepped up and became my second Dad; and he
was always there with a smile and some advice.

The shows will be a little sadder without his smiling face but I'm sure he will
do his best to send down some Meteorites from heaven just to keep us on our
toes! :-)

Please send your thoughts and prayers to his family during this difficult time.

Thank you

[meteorite-list] Christmas is Coming AD :-)

2016-11-24 Thread KD Meteorites via Meteorite-list
Hello, Everybody!

Christmas is just around the corner and we have some Stellar
meteorites available. :-) Check out our What's New page for the most
recent additions.

http://kdmeteorites.com/WhatsNewAtKDMeteorites.html

We have several new items and still have some of the spectacular
Timbuktu available as well. What you see on the website is all of that
material that is available - there is no more!

We also have a stunning 15 kilo slab of Glorieta Mountain available -
this is the last remaining slab of the main mass and features flow
lines and regmalyphs. Beautiful! Gorieta is getting harder and harder
to find so add this one to your collection if you want something
outstanding.

http://kdmeteorites.com/GlorietaMountainMeteoriteSlab15Kg.html

Many other great items to choose from, as well as gift certificates
for that hard to buy for friend or family member. :-)

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone and we want to wish everyone a great
Christmas season and a Stellar 2017!

Cheers,
Dana

[meteorite-list] NOTICE! Tucson Storage Unit Meteorite Items Stolen

2016-09-12 Thread KD Meteorites via Meteorite-list
Hello, All;

I have been informed by some friends of ours, Jens and Cynthia Meier,
owners of Conlight Meteorites, that their storage unit in Tucson has
been broken into and all their meteorite stock has been stolen. They
do not have any idea when it was stolen as the storage unit did not
have any cameras in the building their merchandise was in.

Their products included rough and faceted Jepara crystals, some
assorted meteorite slices, and meteorite beads.

They are well known for their watches - all watches have "Conlight
Meteorites, made in Germany" on the back.

There are various styles of watches that were stolen:

10 watches with a meteorite dial and titanium case
16 with iron meteorite faces and stainless steel case
1 with a pallasite face and titanium case
1 Chronograph watch with a meteorite face, stainless steel case and
fiber carbon band
16 with peridot crystals on the face
150 meteorite peridot sets which included one faceted and one rough
meteorite peridot
30 meteorite pendants in various styles.

There are more watches in various styles as well.

If you want pictures, please email me and I can send you the photos of
the watches.

If anyone sees any of these watches or other items please let Jens
know at conli...@larimar.info, or contact the Tucson police as a
police report has been filed.

Thank you!
Dana

[meteorite-list] AD - Select Collection Specimens for Sale! Don't miss this opportunity to acquire something SPECTACULAR!! :-)

2015-05-17 Thread KD Meteorites via Meteorite-list
Hello, Everyone;

We hope everyone is doing well!

We have decided to offer a few of our personal collection meteorites
for sale. These are stellar examples of collection worthy meteorites
and would be an outstanding addition to anyone's collection.

First, we are offering our 15 kilo Glorieta Mountain Slab. This is the
last remaining slab of the 300 pound main mass siderite. It shows
beautiful flow lines and regmalyphs as well as the stunning etch that
we all expect from Glorieta Mountain. This slab belongs in someones
personal collection or in a museum or university.

http://kdmeteorites.com/GlorietaMountainMeteoriteSlab15Kg.html

Next, we have a 162.9 gram full slice of the Portales Valley
Meteorite. This slice has been professionally finished by Keith. It is
a beautiful specimen and would be a great addition to any collection.

http://kdmeteorites.com/PortalesValleyMeteorite162.9gms.html

Also, we are offering the main mass of the Katherine's Landing
meteorite - 1225.5 gms. This is a very nice looking chondrite with
great shape and size. Very attractive.

http://kdmeteorites.com/Katherine%27sLandingMeteoriteCollection.html

We will also consider reasonable offers on our spectacular Sutter's
Mill collection piece - with it's unique, one of a kind ring of
fusion crust unlike anything we or anyone else has seen before. Our
Sutter's Mill collection specimen has been featured in both the
Meteorite Magazine and also the Polish Meteorite Magazine.

http://kdmeteorites.com/Sutter%27sMillMeteorite21.47gm.html

Please feel free to contact us with any and all questions and thank
you for looking!

Cheers,
Dana

[meteorite-list] AD - Chassignite NWA 8694 for sale (The missing link between the Chassignites and Nakhlites?)

2015-04-15 Thread Luc Labenne Meteorites via Meteorite-list
Hi List,

My new martian, a chassignite (only the third after Chassigny and NWA 2737) is
a small 54.8g single stone.

So there are less than 20g available for all the market, compare to the multi
kilo shergottites!

Few small pieces on my Ebay store:

Few larger pieces on my web site:

[meteorite-list] AD - 30 % on Carbonaceous C. similar to Coolidge / 30 % on Atacamaites‏

Hello List,

Anybody interested by special CC, I offer on my Ebay store,  30% on the Sahara

metal rich matrix showing armored chondrules (like in typical CR) but many are
filled with bleb of metal outside and inside the chondrules which is uncommon.

I was lucky to find, during my last meteorite trip in September 2014 with my
brother Jim, a part of this new strewn field of tektites. So for the first
time, you can acquire some Atacamaites. We offer here these tektites combo
including a nice teardrop and droplet. Buy from the source!

[meteorite-list] AD - EBAY - Eagle Station with old label, Silicate-bearing iron. Auction on a 177g Gao on EBAY

2014-04-20 Thread Luc Labenne Meteorites
Hello list,

I have recently added some new pieces to my Ebay store:

- A 37g end cut of the very rare pallasite Eagle Station, with an old label! A
pallasite found in 1880, in Kentucky. A very interesting isotopic link exists
between the Eagle Station trio (Eagle Station grouplet with Cold Bay, Itzawisis
and the newly recognized Karavannoe) and the carbonaceous chondrites of the
CO/CV clan. Anybody interested by this piece, contact me directly before you
use the Best Offer button as I can accept a much lower price this way.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Eagle-Station-Meteorite-Pallasite-37-g-With-Old-Label-Found-in-1880-Kentucky-/321380270008?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0hash=item4ad3c1bfb8

- A 64g full slice, half iron/half silicate of the NWA 5549, a silicate-bearing
iron meteorite linked to winonaites.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Meteorite-NWA-5549-64-g-Silicate-Bearing-Iron-Meteorite-linked-to-winonaites-/221408123917?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0hash=item338cf3dc0d

- The main mass, 14.38 g, of the Eucrite NWA 5803, uncommon matrix and glossy
fusion crust.

Finally, a beautiful 177g Gao currently on auction : ultrasonically cleaned  so
the fusion crust is as fresh as when it fell.

[meteorite-list] AD - Stellar Christmas Gifts - Nothing but Winners!

2013-12-01 Thread KD Meteorites
Hello, Everyone!

Happy Holidays to all!

Christmas will be here shortly and we have some stellar Meteorite
Knives and Letter Openers for that special someone that is hard to
find just the right gift for.

Check them out here:

http://www.kdmeteorites.com/MeteoriteKnives.html Don't forget to
scroll all the way down to see the Letter Openers. We now have some
Damascus knives handcrafted by Mastersmith J. Neilson - wait until you
see the Meteorite Damascus! These knives actually look like they have
meteorite in them instead of a typical damascus look.

We have a few slices of Winner, South Dakota available - there was
only one piece found so what is on the website is it. You should get
yours while you can!

http://www.kdmeteorites.com/WinnerMeteoritesForSale.html

And, the awesomely named Nothing, a very rare IID iron! This was also
a single find, so material is limited. What is on our website is it.

http://www.kdmeteorites.com/NothingMeteoritesForSale.html

Last but not least, we have some very stunning faceted Admire
Meteorite Peridot available:

http://www.kdmeteorites.com/AdmireGemstonesforSale.html

This is a perfect addition to your meteorite collection wether you put
into jewelry to make that special gift or just add it to your
collection.

[meteorite-list] Updated web site - meteorite history

2013-11-17 Thread Mark's Meteorites
Hi folks,

I've recently expanded and completely revised my site at
http://historicfalls.com.

My focus is still on old witnessed falls, with transcriptions of historical
documents, lots of meteorite photos, and some articles and explainers. I hope
you like it. Please send any comments or corrections to me privately.

Also, I'm happy to add links for collectors to the links page: again, just drop
me an email.

Best,

Re: [meteorite-list] Meteorite origin questions

2012-09-23 Thread Mark's Meteorites
Hi John,

Here's a lsit I drew up some time back with brief references. It's fairly
speculative in some places but it represeted pretty much all the info I could
pull together at the time.

 Hi List,
I’m working on a project and I have some questions about the origins
of meteorites. I hope some of you can help me.

Years ago I read the book “Meteorites and their Parent Planets” by
Harry McSween and saw him give a great presentation at Appalachian
State University in NC but I don’t remember the connections that he
 wrote about.

I’m familiar with the Howardite, Eucrite and Diogenite connection with
 the asteroid Vesta
and the Shergottite, Nakhlite, and Chassigny connection with Mars.

I’ve also heard about a possible connection with meteorites and Mercury??

Do we know specifics about where the other meteorites may come from or
do we just say “the asteroid belt”?
 What about the…
 Carbonaceous chondrites
 H chondrites
 L chondrites
 Irons
 Pallasites
 Mesosiderites
 and others

Any information will be greatly appreciated.

 Thank You!

Just heard on FOX News and MSNBC that Neil Armstrong has just passed away at 82!

So sad to hear ...I still fondly remember watching him and Buzz walking on the
moon when I was 14 and at summer camp
in July 1969.

Rest In Peace, Neil!!!

Best to all -

Hi All,

Thank you Mike for the heads up. As i have 25 or so UNWA's and almost always
check the Met Bull daily i did miss this one. I am lucky enough to have two
today, 6349-5.32g and 6709-5.59g, and wish to thank Stefan Martin for my good
luck. As well, i thank the big Kahuna (Gary) for 2 other unwa's i purchased
from him that were classified, 6573-1.39g and 6575-5.61g.

I hope others had good luck today and everyday of their anticipated acceptance
of their Unwa's.

Re: [meteorite-list] New fall...Mars / Nice inside too

2011-12-24 Thread Labenne Meteorites
You're right Jeff,
I am very sorry, I was excited, and still excited anyway... I was there
Tuesday, after receiving pictures the past week and when you saw the stones and
talk with the nomads (with Marocan dealer translating) the reality of an
observed fall is more than possible...anyway fall or not, this is a great
meteorite for science !
By the way, I personnaly saw a few hundred grams of fragments and very few
individuals. From my sources we are talking about a few hundred grams to a few
kilos. But as I noticed previously there is enough material for science and
collectors (considering the small meteorite market and the availabilty of many
small fragments around 1g or less) but there aren't kilos and kilos as some
other people are suggesting.
Best Regards and Merry Christmas!
