Re: [meteorite-list] Munich Show----book
Merry Christmas everybody! Now for the bad news: going strictly in the order your emails came in my in-box, I can say that the Munich Book sold out late last night. Sorry. However I know that the Munich Show does send a representative to the Tucson show, so I will ask if that person could bring a few books with him. More later I hope. And Thank you everybody for the enthusiastic response. Anne M. Re: [meteorite-list] Munich show book (Meteorites) report
I have to concur with Martin that this publication is top notch, from the content of the well written articles to the photographs, to the printing, paper and binding (I was in the printing industry in another lifetime). It is highly recommended and well worth the price to find a home in your meteorite library. Its also a bit less expensive than traveling to Munich for the actual show, but Im not scratching that off my bucket list. gary On Nov 5, 2014, at 8:44 AM, Martin Goff via Meteorite-list wrote: > Hi all, > > This book cones highly recommended. Re: [meteorite-list] Munich show book (Meteorites) report
Thank you Martin for the recommendation. And thank you for all of you who asked for a book. We have the minimum 10 already. Now for the cost as some of you have asked. If you were to order just one it would cost you 28 euros plus 36 euros for shipping, so 64 euros, or $80 to $85 depending on the exchange rate. So I would like to ask you all for $45 per book plus whatever the postage will be from me to you. Is that acceptable? Do let me know as soon as possible. Thanks you. Anne M. Re: [meteorite-list] Munich Show Photos
Thanks for sharing, Marcin. I wonder how many of our American friends could easily identify most (or all) of the guys in the group photo at the top of the line of pics. Some well-known people, collectors/dealers/scientists, from Europe here concentrated right on the spot. There will be hardly anyone out there on this list who really does not know who that guy from the U.S. is, in about the middle of the top row? Do I see any fingers up..?? :-) Nice, representative pics! I especially like the closeups of the Kraehenberg meteorite from Germany, a famous historical and very nicely oriented stone, with just a few grams from likely only very few earlier cuts in private collections. Re: [meteorite-list] Munich Show 2010 - Photos
Aloha Hanno, Many thanks for publishing your fine photographs of the Munich Show. For me, and perhaps many others as well on this metlist, seeing the meteorites on display are very cool, but better yet are the opportunity to see many friends with whom I have only a written correspondence. Its certainly nice to be able to connect a face with a name, and maybe I'll be able to attend next year to meet them all in person. In the meantime, there are 92 days before the Tucson Gem & Mineral show beings. Let the countdown commence. gary On Nov 2, 2010, at 1:22 PM, Hanno Strufe wrote: > Hello, > > here are my photos from the Munich Show last weekend. > You will find the pictures on my website at > > http://www.strufe.net > > go with your mouse cursor on the top at “Foto-Galerien” and the sign for > München-2010 is coming up, there you see the 5 pages on the right that > include each 10 photos > or copy the following link into your browser > > http://www.strufe.net/0334af9a5a0cf8e1d/0334af9e24108a702/0334af9e241099907/index.php > > > Best regards > > > Hanno Strufe > Langenbergstrasse 32 > D - 66954 Pirmasens > Germany > > Phone + Fax: +49 6331 225105 > E-Mail: h63str...@aol.com > WEB: www.strufe.net > > Member of The Meteoritical Society > (International Society for Meteoritics and Planetery Science) > > IMCA-Member: # 4267 > (International Meteorite Collectors Association) > > __ > Visit the Archives at > http://www.meteoritecentral.com/mailing-list-archives.html > Meteorite-list mailing list > Meteorite-list@meteoritecentral.com > http://six.pairlist.net/mailman/listinfo/meteorite-list Gary Fujihara Big Kahuna Meteorites (IMCA#1693) 105 Puhili Place, Hilo, Hawai'i 96720 http://bigkahuna-meteorites.com/ http://shop.ebay.com/fujmon/m.html (808) 640-9161 __ Visit the Archives at http://www.meteoritecentral.com/mailing-list-archives.html Meteorite-list mailing list Meteorite-list@meteoritecentral.com http://six.pairlist.net/mailman/listinfo/meteorite-list

Good Day List, The days get shorter, the winds colder and it smells like Munich Show! And of course also this year the fair can't be without the traditional, meteoritical Friday-get-together at the Fliegerbraeu after the show. Same procedure: Friday evening, October 31, from 8p.m. on. Address is in nearby Feldkirchen. Fliegerbräu Sonnenstr. 2 85622 Feldkirchen Tel. 0 89/9 03 60 32 http://www.fliegerbraeu.de Here you find a map, how to get from the fair ground there. Anyway, the beer is good, after all those years the meteorite people know, where it is, and most seem to like it, right? Of course it would be nice, if you'd let me know, if you plan to take part in, cause in past there were always to few places in the beginning. And here are the general show information: http://www.mineralientage.de/?lang=en For any questions, feel free to contact me. Chladni's Heirs you'll find in the middle hall A5, booth A5.633 and I'm glad to announce, that Stefan already will take be back again. You have to purchase a lot from him, that was the recommendation of the doctors. Regarding the meeting point of the meteorite aficionados on the show, Friday, Saturday, Sunday - I heard, that Erich won't have a table this year. Hello Munich was very interesting this year. Two new spectacular falls in one place. Thats what I like. Mali fall was well represented on many tables from tiny complete specimens to large regmaglypted stones. Morocans show each fall on different box, so there was no problem with mixing both falls together. Both falls have similar crust but very different interior. Ofcourse everything depends of the size of specimens and how fresh they are etc. Carancas specimens was incredible. It really SMELL very strange. Its fragile like dust, so every touch produces new tiny fragments. I belive its becouse of high shock while meteor hit ground. Another surprize was that I have found 90% complete, crusted specimen. I belived its impossible as this meteorite was sooo large. Will show it soon. [meteorite-list] Munich Show 2007 & Friday Evening at Fliegerbrau
Good Day List, impatiently asked by those, who can't await it anymore: Yes, also this year there will be the Friday-get-together with beer & more beer (also with non-alcoholic beer for our friends from Maghreb) at the Fliegerbraeu after the show. As always Friday evening, November 2, from 8p.m. on. Address is in nearby Feldkirchen. Fliegerbräu Sonnenstr. 2 85622 Feldkirchen Tel. 0 89/9 03 60 32 www.fliegerbraeu.de Here you find a map, how to get from the fair ground there. Starting from the main entrance/exit East, where the show halls for the mineral fair are located. http://kuerzer.de/Fleagerbroy (because of my German IP, the map legend of the google-maps-thing is displayed in German, I hope for you in English then...) I was thinking about finding a better place, cause those Fliegerbraeu-guys are somewhat strange and non-professional, but didn't manage to find a suitable restaurant so close to the fair. Anyway, the beer is good, after all those years the meteorite people know, where it is, and most seem to like it, right? And more than the ambience, the fun and the people are important. Each year more meteorite people took part, and I gave up to ask, who will join, as each time more than twice as much, as confirmed, came, sometimes causing some narrowness. Though nice it would be, if you could let me know, whether you'll join, so that I could add on more places, in case. Please also don't forget to pay your food and drinks there before leaving, Chladni's Heirs are successful, but not so successful yet, that we could invite you all.. For those, who have their hotels in inner city, and don't want to drive: Fliegerbräu is easy accessible from the city center by public transportation. (It is safe, also at night). For any questions, feel free to contact me. Let me see... Pictures of the shows/Friday Eves of the last years, you'll find on Hanno's page: http://www.strufe.net/English/english.htm More show pictures at Peter's place: http://www.marmet-meteorites.com/id21.html Show info: http://www.mineralientage.de/?lang=en They improved their website with some helpful features. Was always a problem to get plans of the halls. Now you can customize your own detailled plans, by marking the sellers you're interested in - and afterwards you easily can print your personal plans. So Francesc, you're free! Here you can search for meteorites offerors: http://www.mineralientage.de/index.php?kat=68&typ=angebot and here you can mark them in the plans of the three halls: http://www.mineralientage.de/index.php?kat=68&typ=lageplan Chaldni's Heirs will have their booth in hall A4. Booth number is A4.616 Therefore this year it won't be difficult to spot a meeting-point at the show, last year was a little collision, whether at Erich's or at Pani or at Chladni's, cause this year Erich's and our booths are in the same row, with only 3 tables in-between. A hint for those coming by car, approaching from West and South: Use the beltway A99 to get to the fairground, even if you have to circumnavigate whole town. Many were desperate, that they stuck in traffic for half a day, when they tried to cross Munich. Peter tried it last year the A99 and was happy. Hotel situation seems to be more relaxed than the year before. I even found still rooms in the somewhat spartan Ibis close to the show at 69Euro for a double. (Not suitable, if you're coming with your wife/husband, who is fed up with your boring stone - there better book a hotel in city center). Hotel rates in Munich: 45-55Euro/night is very cheap, 55-80 cheap, 80-130 normal. Into the telephone pool I'm throwing Stefan's cell phone number, (until the show I will have to buy one, oh modern times, my first one, number later). 0176-20035983 But for any Munich question, it's m province, so don't call him now! Now I hope to see as many as possible of you soon! Martin __ Meteorite-list mailing list Meteorite-list@meteoritecentral.com http://six.pairlist.net/mailman/listinfo/meteorite-list

Martin PS: Excuse, if double posted, but exactely that email seems not to got through? Why? [meteorite-list] Munich show notes.
Well, I am home after a hectic week in Germany. The show was not as good as usual, for one, they moved the show to the opposite halls, so it was quite confusing for everyone trying to find dealers stands. Meteorite-wise, it was the worst show I have ever seen in Munich. Moritz Karl had amazing pieces of historic falls. Erich Haiderer had his usual eclectic mix of goodies and moon rocks mixed in the same boxes with chondrites and crystals, it is like a thrift shop! Chladni's Heirs had a nice display, their first. Many beautifully prepared specimens and their new lunar meteorites! Not bad. Ali Hmani has very few meteorites this year, but one in particular cuaght my eye! More on that one as soon as it arrives in Tucson, it was a tad too heavy to carry home in my baggage. Dean was there, with some nice pieces to my surprise! Gibeon was non-existant! There was maybe 5 pieces there in total. Sikhote-Alin again, was virtually non-existent. Hans Koser had an even split between Campos and Muonionalusta, one of which weighed over 230 kilograms and sold to a Swedish museum! Anyway, it was a good time, and I hope to attend again next year. [meteorite-list] Munich show - Chladni's Phone, Thu Hofbraeuhaus - Fri Fliegerbraeu
Hiho, Munich show is near!! First of all, if you get lost in Munich ect. here is the cell phone number, whith that you always find a Chladni's Heir. (Andi Gren): 0174-2587541 (dunno, how this roaming thing works, with preselection for Germany it's ++49-1742587541) Some of us will meet already Thursday evening in the famous Hofbraeuhaus. Not at a fix hour, cause one never knows, some have to set up their tables ect.. but who will miss a Mike Farmer, a Dean Bessey...you know them from pictures :-) It's in the very city center, easy to find. Go to the town hall (or by metro station "Marienplatz). Enter the street on the right side along the town hall, second street right until the end, there it is. Anyway, each Munich inhabitant is asked at least time times per year "Can you tell me the way to the Hofbräuhaus?" - don't wonder if they only answer "yes" and say nothing for a while, it's their kind of humour. Food is bad, I guess worse than in the "Bratwursthaus" in Tucson, but the beer is good (HB from the state's brewery). For Friday Eve, it would be nice, if those, who want to join, but haven't told me yet, would do so. Until now, collectors, hunters, dealers from 13 nations will come. How to get there...just attach yourself to those, who know it from last year, ask me on the show (stall B1.643) or call the number! See you all soon! Hi Martin and List, To those who are at the Munich show: >>Karls&Vassiliev had the first Hungarian meteorite I saw offered since >>many, many years. I guess it is difficult to find them on out overloaded stand but don't be shy to ask! ;-) Our stand is: A5.546 I had to leave Munich last night because of my family problems but will be back tomorrow around 12:00 Too bad I'm missing the today's party again this year... :-( All the best, Sergey Vasiliev Sergey Vasiliev U Dalnice 839 Prague 5, 15500 Czech Republic http://www.sv-meteorites.com and many meteorite people, but no Bernd :-( Today was still the setting up of the tables and stalls, so that I can judge the complete pomp not before tomorrow. Evident, as also last year, the NWA-flood dries out. Meanwhile Dean seems to have more stones than all Moroccains together :-) (there were sitting in 3 wellknown meteorite freaks indeed making faces like in a candy shop). Saw I nice fullslice of Page City at Andi Gren, the Karls&Vassiliev had the first Hungarian meteorite I saw offered since many, many years. Believe it or not, the Egers still haven't sold the phantastic Seymchan slice with the angular wedgeshaped olivine inclusion, which was also pictured in the Metorite Magazine. Abdullah had a perfect flat small iron, it was so oriented that the temptation was large to let it dance over the surface of the fair lake... > A new Dhofar-Ureilite... Thanks a lot Martin, If that is the new Dhofar AURE that I have recently purchased a thin section of from Ivan Koutyrev, I can tell you it is one of the most colorful, most fascinating ureilites I have ever seen. Alex who will also be with the "gang" in Munich soon can attest to this statement as I sent him a digital JPEG of that colorful, stunning cascade of weakly shocked olivines and pyroxenes of that achondrite. It also displays numerous triple junctions and the carbonaceous stuff seems to be concentrated in a thin interstitial "lining" in the areas sur- rounding the olivines and pyroxenes. B e a u t i f u l ! BTW, Ivan still has several of these thin sections available on Bay! Beautiful crystals of twinned pyroxenes, pigeonite and augite crystals! [meteorite-list] Munich Show 2005 and the evening at the Fliegerbrau
Dear members, like last year, we will meet again at the Fliegerbräu after the first show evening on Friday October 28, 2005 Last year we had this event for the first time. Although it was more than a success, we had too less place for all. That was due to the circumstance, that most of all did not tell us that they will be at the meeting too. Only some people did, Martin Altman reserved a room for 30 people, and then there came more than 40 people. So we had the problem not to have enough tables for all and many had to leave or look for some other locality. This year we will do this evening again and we need to know who will be there to avaoid problems like last years. Everyone, dealer or collector, who will be at the meeting again please contact Martin Altmann at [EMAIL PROTECTED] The deadline for registration is at the end of this week, that means on Friday, Sept. 16 Further details later on (time, address etc) Hope to see a lot of you there again, Christian IMCA #2673 www.austromet.com Christian Anger Korngasse 6 2405 Bad Deutsch-Altenburg AUSTRIA email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] __ Meteorite-list mailing list Meteorite-list@meteoritecentral.com http://six.pairlist.net/mailman/listinfo/meteorite-list

Oh that's really a pity! I missed you last year on the show and freely spoken to the list, I remember the show 2 years ago and if I then had to award a prize for the best colletcors' prices, no doubt the Kammels would be the winner! More and more the specialized meteorite dealers are bringing their internet prices with them to the show, less and less small dealers with bargain prices are to be found as the fees for the stalls are horribly high and the business was mere during the last 3 years and finally the deserfication pullulates, so that it's more and more difficult for the conservative collectors, who like names rather than numbers to catch their bargains. Two years ago I remmeber almost nobody noticed the assortment of the Kammels, but on the opposite side of the aisle there was a guy selling etched shiny Nantan chips for 3Euro/g (!!!) with good success, whilst on the Kammel table there were waiting all the fine names from down under - Hamilton, Broken Hill, non shale Dalgarangas, a marvellous Millbillillie at so low prices, that, if I had more cash, I would have bought all what they had! So promise to come again next year!! Hi there, thanks to all who told me they will be at the Munich Mineral Show this year. The reason why I was asking is twofold: first of all, I am looking forward to see fellow collectors. I haven't been in the public so far :-), and this will be the first time to see those I am writing to. The second reason is that I will use the opportunity to buy some material there. It's my first fair, so I don't really know what to expect. So I thought that it would be clever to ask those selling there what they will offer, and maybe get some deals done before I come to Munich, so I can pay and pick up the meteorites there. Now, apart from getting this or that beauty that comes to my eyes in Munich, I have a list of items I will be looking for. I want to add some lower numbered NWAs to my collection, whether they are just ordinary chondrites or something more exotic. I am looking for a piece of Mauerkirchen, sized in a way that I can afford it. I want to get a larger slice of an ordinary chondrite (no prob if it is unclassified) in the range of 500-1500g. I am NOT really looking for new falls or lunar or martian material. Price DOES matter, of course :-). If you feel you have something I am looking for - or even something I am NOT looking for but could be interested in, feel free to contact me. I am no millionaire, so proposing me a $5000 part slice of something will just waste your time *g*, but I do not expect you to offer me a 25g CK5 for $75 either :-) Bernhard __ Meteorite-list mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://six.pairlist.net/mailman/listinfo/meteorite-list

Hello Bernhard and list, I'll be in Munich on October 30/31 Sergey Afansiev usually is at the stand of Peter Pittman, while Sergey Vassiliev is with Moritz Karl. Yes Martin, I know them all from Morocco, and I have looked at all their meteorites, they want me to identify what they have, other than a couple of Eucrites and Howardites that are the same as already on the market, I have seen nothing very interesting. Hi Mike, you ate to much Bratwürst - you have to bend, the Morrocains have the boxes with the desert chunks under their tables! Hi everyone, just a quick note before I head down to work here at the Munich mineral show. It is a huge show, 3 buildings, all with several hundres dealers. Nice museum exhibits including the Neuschwanstien meteorite. There are of course, alot of meteorites here, but virtually NOTHING from the Moroccan dealers! Each one has a small flat or two of chondrites almost all are the several thousand kilo NWA under so many names. Some nice historical meteorites, ALL with very high prices. Nothing in any sort of bulk except the maligned Shirokovsky, which the Russian owner is still selling with the help of a very nice display and printed information that looks like it was made in hollywood. Hi everyone, I am in Prague Czech Republic. I have just visited the nice museum here and saw the meteorite collection. Some very rare historic meteorites, nice old displays, 200 year old fall reports. I will be in Munich this weekend selling with Hans Koser in the International hall. I hope to see many of my European clients there. Thanks Mike Farmer __ Meteorite-list mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.pairlist.net/mailman/listinfo/meteorite-list
[meteorite-list] Munich show,thanks Martin
Hi Martin and list Martin ,thanks for the useful info.I had taken a bit of a look through the 700 or so registered dealers and the various Moroccans certainly caught my eye. Thanks for the tip on 'haggling' *wink*. So it seems that you are saying it is possible for the general public to get access to the first day,I was under the impression it was dealers only?Must a ticket be bought in advance? Thanks for any more insights.I am drooling at the thought of attending my first show with digital camera in tow.Looking so forward to seeing all those space rocks in one place.Recently back from the NHM,London and while it was a nice display, most of their specimens are understandably hidden away.Dr. Grady graciously offered to let me 'backstage' so to speak but there was a mixup with the dates that was entirely my fault so I had to settle for the public display. [meteorite-list] Munich show & hello
Hello list, Hi Jim, as Im living in Munich and the Munich show is my home fair, I think Im predestined to give you my impressions about this show. But first I have to introduce myself, because Im joining this list only since two weeks, amused about the exchange of insults between the dealers ( Bruno, Mike, Matteo et.al: My prices are even cheaper! :-) and really glad that there is someone else on the list, who helps me not to be so ashamed of my poor English . My name is Martin Altmann and like Jim Im from the group of astronomical enthusiasts. First in contact with meteorites I got as twelve year old boy, of course during the Munich fair 20 years ago, where I acquired my first specimen. Uh, I was so proud three weeks later I found out, that it was only a tektite. But next year I bought my first real meteorite, a small Mundrabilla from german meteorite pope Walter Zeitschel. Well the meteorite prices were paradisiacally cheap at those times, but as a pupil I couldnt afford much and had always pangs of conscience in spending all my pocket-money for meteorites, regarded from my fellows and my family as a complete idiot . Later when the prices grew and grew due to the upcoming internet, I was forced to start to deal a little bit with meteorites to keep my collection growing like many others do. Im running a homepage ( www.meteorite-martin.de , www.meteorite-martin.com ), but because of a lack of time Im not able to keep it updated (for the case, that someone is interested in my assortment for sale or trade, I gladly will mail an actual list) and most stuff Im selling via ebay (ID: pardelmops). My collection is small but extremely conservative, I try to focuse on classical localities meteorites with names, not with numbers and from those I like most observed falls. Because the space for postings is limited, I have to split my report from the show into 3 parts
