Re: [Mikrotik] Hotspot login errors
What are you using as AAA? Usermanager? FreeRadius and other implementations has options to trigger this kind of messages. I was watching the log and noticed a customer having trouble logging in. She was trying all variations of her user name but was never getting in because she forgot to capitalize the first letter. Her user name is Ruththegoddess I called her, verified her identity and then told her what she was doing wrong. She was very grateful after she successfully logged in. I was wondering if anyone has an idea how to make the router send our help desk an email or trigger something in The Dude when it notices a certain number of invalid logins. This would help out in this sort of problem and also let us know if someone was trying to compromise someone's user account. Ideas? Re: [Mikrotik] Hotspot login errors
I think it's a problem of the user to fill the correct user/password. Or use only capital letters.. You can make a small writing for help writing use capital leters, blabla as we give you your username/pass. * Martín Ruiz* * * 2011/10/27 rwf ralphli...@bsrg.org We have several Muni Mesh systems that are powered by Mikrotik routers. Re: [Mikrotik] Hotspot login errors
Thanks for your suggestion, but we find that if you run a hotspot system serving an entire city, and you have a help desk, then those login errors will become trouble tickets and you will still have to deal with them. Being proactive when possible helps build customer satisfaction. Our AAA/RADIUS is managed by a 3rd party, so I don't really have the option of setting anything to happen there, -Original Message- From: mikrotik-boun...@mail.butchevans.com [mailto:mikrotik-boun...@mail.butchevans.com] On Behalf Of Martín Ruiz [Ibersystems.es] Sent: Thursday, October 27, 2011 3:55 AM To: Mikrotik discussions Subject: Re: [Mikrotik] Hotspot login errors I think it's a problem of the user to fill the correct user/password. Re: [Mikrotik] Hotspot login errors
How fast do you want to be proactive ? You could probably have a script look through the logfile for failed logins and send off an email. -- Original Message -- From: rwf ralphli...@bsrg.org Reply-To: Mikrotik discussions mikrotik@mail.butchevans.com Date: Wed, 26 Oct 2011 21:31:23 -0400 We have several Muni Mesh systems that are powered by Mikrotik routers. Re: [Mikrotik] Hotspot login errors
You could spit those logs to remote and put them on a Dude server. Then watch the Dude or make it beep/alert/etc. Josh Luthman Office: 937-552-2340 Direct: 937-552-2343 1100 Wayne St Suite 1337 Troy, OH 45373 On Thu, Oct 27, 2011 at 9:23 AM, Stuart Pierce spie...@avolve.net wrote: How fast do you want to be proactive ?
