Check out Octave. There's even a pre-built package for OpenBSD. Octave should be compatible with your Matlab scripts. For statistical computing there's also the R programming language. Activating ip6.forwarding and accept_rtadv at the same time
Hi, I am trying to figure out why OpenBSD won't let me activate net.inet6.ip6.accept_rtadv and net.inet6.ip6.forwarding at the same time. My ISP started an IPv6 beta, and I am trying to configure my OpenBSD router for it. I want to get the IPv6 address of my gateway (the address of my ISP's router) on my pppoe0 interface via resold and to run rtadvd on my lan interface, so my hosts can configure themselves. What's the clean way to get that working? For now, I disabled ip6.forwarding in sysctl.conf and didn't enable rtadvd in rc.conf.local. That way, 'rtsold' starts and works correctly. Then, I added sysctl net.inet6.ip6.forwarding=1 and /usr/sbin/rtadvd LAN INTERFACE to /etc/rc.local Everything works fine that way (as far as I can tell, for now), but it doesn't feel clean... I need autoconf to find what's my IPv6 default gateway. And I need to have a router on my LAN telling my devices how to configure themselves. Or am I missing something? Is the only clean solution to statically configure my default route on my OpenBSD router? I can't really do that; since my ISP assume I would be using autoconf to find it, it could change at any time... Just to make sure things are clear, I have bean given by my ISP a /64 for my router interface, and a /56 for my LAN. Would I need to configure two OpenBSD boxes? One establishing the PPPOE connection to my ISP with autoconf, and the other one with rtadvd running. (With static routes between the two OpenBSD boxes). That would be somewhat overkill... I'm apologizing for any noise I may have created on other mailing lists. I am trying- with help from members of the OpenBSD community- to get it working on an HTC Apache. Instead of having to ask everytime a build breaks for cross-tools or cross-distrib, I'd rather be able to use documentation. Again, my apologies. I understand that OpenBSD is a developer oriented OS; and, I am not a developer. However, I'd like to be able to try making it work. If anyone can point me to where any helpful documentation exists, I would be grateful. Apologies for the noise.

Problems sending correct Netmask with ospfd 4.7-AMD64

I am trying to configure OSPF in my environment between OpenBSD 4.7
(Release)-AMD64, an Allied Telesyn 9924T switch and a Cisco ASA 5505.
The ASA and the Switch appear to have no problems forming a neighbor
relationship, however the OpenBSD box is having more problems. Below
is the interface information for em0:

Which tells me that it is configured to expect a netmask of
255.255.255.0 but it is actually receiving a 255.0.0.0 netmask. The
only thing I can think of is that osfpd is not getting the correct
netmask from ifconfig, so it is sending the classful /8 netmask to the
other clients. I didn't see anything in ospfd.conf regarding
netmasks, so I'm a little confused as to how to proceed.

I'm pretty sure IPv6 forwarding and accepting routing advertisements will be a necessity going forward. At the current time I don't know of any other way to dynamically find the default route in IPv6, necessary for end user gateways on consumer ISPs. Even using DHCPv6 your default gateway is found only via routing advertisements, and they have added the Prefix Delegation option to DHCPv6 to provide end user gateways with their address space, DHCP will take care of providing the ISP their forwarding information at that point. This is all based on what I've seen discussed and read myself, if I've misunderstood something speak up. Back to your initial problem, it is a bit of a bummer. The same happens with Linux as well. As has been stated before, it is accepted that router discovery is for end-hosts only. DHCP used to be a client configuration tool, but DHCPv6 is more specifically designed for router configuration. My ISP does that over a PPP link, and it works wonderfully. blank virtual consoles, blank screen after exiting X11
using a current amd64 or i386 snapshot i can't see any output on the virtual consoles after starting X11. I'm using a lenovo t410i Once i start X and do ctrl+alt+f1 there is just a blank screen. The same thing happens when i kill X and try to shut down my cpu. After exiting X11 there is just a blank screen. I can still type 'reboot' or other commands to shutdown the computer, i just can't see anything.
