I'm not sure of the model number, but the sierra wireless hotspot I
had worked because it attaches a cdce device. You may want to try
 trading for one of those.

Ted, thank you for the hint, I'll try it asap and report about the test results.

 Hi.
 From umsm.4:
Some modems have multiple serial ports, however almost all modems have
only one effective serial port for PPP connections. For example, the
Huawei E220 has two serial ports, but only the first port can be used to
make connections; the second one is for management. The Option
GlobeTrotter HSDPA/HSUPA modems have three serial ports, but only the
last port can be used to make PPP connections.

My Huawei E1820 by Megafon have three ports, and only one of them (ucom0)
replies OK on AT. Other ports are dumb.

Try to set up your device to behave like a modem, not NDIS in setup utility it
 shipped with.

Thank you Kirill for the answer, but I'd checked umsm(4) and tried different
configuration parameters in device setup utility /g before writting Email to
misc@. Somehow, the problem is still in air here... Maybe, it is the answer:
umsm.4:
CAVEATS
For Verizon Wireless (and possibly other services), cards require a one-
time activation before they will work; umsm does not currently support
 this.

UMSMBUFSZ in sys/dev/usb/umsm.c ?

2008-02-25 Thread Sergey Prysiazhnyi
Hello misc@, I'm playing a lot with UMTS/CDMA devices in OpenBSD.
Do anybody have any umsm devices or any other USB WAN devices on
umsm for testing Subj parameter?

Try to change UMSMBUFSZ to 4096 in sys/dev/usb/umsm.c ?
Any changes/improvements in fact?

For those, can you please share your results if it is possible?

Please help test these! Thank you a lot,

ppp set speed problem?

2008-02-14 Thread Sergey Prysiazhnyi
Hello misc@, can you please answer a question? How can I solve the speed
problems with ppp,pppd, like:

itp[p3]:~sudo ppp
Working in interactive mode
Using interface: tun0
ppp ON itp set speed 921600
Warning: 921600: Invalid speed
Warning: usage: set speed value|sync

; you can only set speed 230400 in OpenBSD. For 3G devices, for exmp. it is too
small speed... ? Thanks,

Question about ral max speed?

2007-09-12 Thread Sergey Prysiazhnyi
Hello,

I'm using a lot of MiniPCI ral cards in my work with OpenBSD, such as:

dmesg | g ral
ral0 at pci0 dev 16 function 0 Ralink RT2561S rev 0x00: irq 10, address
00:1a:4d:28:e0:47
ral0: MAC/BBP RT2561C, RF RT2527

In this case I have Subj question: what is the top speed, that I can get from
such stuff?
I'd tested different options and flags from man 4 ral, spent a lot of time on
it, tested all the
media from the ifconfig -m ral0 list with all the mediaopt opts. The max speed
that I'd saw being
in my office with the total distance between points about 2-3 metres is 11,8
Mbit/sec.

Is it normal? Any dmesg? What about the max speeds that you'd ever seen on ral?

Can I see smth. about 54 Mbps between 2 OpenBSD boxes? If it is yes, please,
what stuff? Producer, vendor?

; Can anybody tell me more about chan option: values, influences, etc? Or,
where I can read about it?

Thank you very much for your reply.

Ralink has some 802.11n devices on the work but they're not supported (yet).

On the openbsd gateway you need something like this

ike passive from any to 10.1.1.0/24 \
   main auth hmac-sha1 enc 3des group modp1024 \
quick auth hmac-sha1 enc 3des psk secret

The default transform of the greenbowclient for phase 1 is
 3des/sha1/modp1024, for phase 1 3des/sha1.

Thank you Hans-Joerg, but it is still useless for me: :(

sudo cat /etc/ipsec.conf
ike passive from any to 10.1.1.0/24 \
main auth hmac-sha1 enc 3des group modp1024 \
quick auth hmac-sha1 enc 3des psk secret

pf.conf rules relative to ipsec:

set skip on { lo enc0 }

pass in on $ext_if proto udp to ($ext_if) port { 500, 4500 }
pass out on $ext_if proto udp from ($ext_if) to port { 500, 4500 }
pass in on $ext_if proto esp to ($ext_if)
pass out on $ext_if proto esp from ($ext_if)
pass in on enc0 proto ipencap to ($ext_if) keep state (if-bound)
pass out on enc0 proto ipencap from ($ext_if) keep state (if-bound)

further:

isakmpd -dKv
ipsecctl -F
ipsecctl -f /etc/ipsec.conf

Hello community, I wana do something like:

http://openbsd.org/papers/asiabsdcon07-ipsec/mgp00065.html

I have:

cat /etc/ipsec.conf

ike dynamic from any to any \

quick auth hmac-sha1 enc aes psk secret

; ike passive, ike passive esp, ike esp, etc - no results.
