Yep, my bad, guys. I'm kind of busy and I didn't take my time to read this reply. Next time I'll be more aware of that kind of tricks. RTFM. http://www.openbsd.org/security.html#process http://www.openbsd.org/papers/
Re: Why I uninstalled OpenBSD…
It would be nice to have an official report, but IIRC there have been many news on the net explaining results of this audit. It actually said what happened and what didn't happen. Looks like response to me. Probobly that is not sufficient for you and that's ok. The problem is that after this observation your post became way too emotional. OpenBSD songs, artwork have absolutely nothing to do with the actual code of the OS. Your final conclusion seems to be exaggerated, or - in best case - inaccurate, because you claim that this one incident itself makes OpenBSD "minefield of holes and cracks" and that "OpenBSD is about as secure as swiss cheese.". That just doesn't sound professional to me either. You're making unbased statement. It has nothing to do with reality, as I'm seeing it. Kepping things short: "Wow, you're overreacting." That guy must know a lot about security for sure. He has fcb account (find that, don't want to make PR for him) so real guru :-) It turns his complaints about security, FBI, backdoors and other stuff in to really high level joke :-) In the end his page has title which says enough how "serious" are all his post. BTW did not find his name in cvs@, tech@, misc@ so I'm curious with what he contributed to code as he writes about that. Maybe some invisible improvement? :-) > > Nick.
Re: Why I uninstalled OpenBSD…
Today's post: "I uninstalled OpenBSD the other day after using it since version 4.0 came out five years ago." Another post, dated 06/03/2010: "I was a long-time OpenBSD user since the 3.1 days, and cut my teeth on Unix development there." Of course, this guy lost all credibility here long before this post came along. Thank you, James Shupe

And then a bunch of people who should know better jump all over him, not unjustifiably, but include the link of the crap in their reply, giving more advertising to the site and higher search engine ratings. Mission accomplished. why are you trolling? any idiot who can rub two neurons can think of the following points: 1) formal audit cost $$ 2) this is a free project, always not enough $$ 3) anyone who can write code can audit it for themselves 4) the stupid troll's point that other project uses openbsd's code - that means they have read the code and looked at it and found it good enough to be incorporated into their code base - in other words, they audited it internally -- http://www.glumbert.com/media/shift http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tGvHNNOLnCk "This officer's men seem to follow him merely out of idle curiosity." -- Sandhurst officer cadet evaluation.
