[Mjpeg-users] libquicktime

2005-05-23 Thread E.Chalaron

Gday

For those who are not aware, my favourite hobby is to crash my linux box and therefore to compile mjpeg tools every so often...
today it is not mjpeg tools it is libquicktime :
make gives me :
libtool: link: cannot find the library `/usr/X11R6/lib/libGL.la'

what should provide this file ?
Thanks
ECh.

You don't have to wait for a crash to compile mjpegtools - I think
crashing a system is a bad habit to acquire :)

MESA?

I think Mesa is the effort that provided GL capability - look for
Mesa-devel. Something like:

rpm -qa | grep -i mesa
xorg-x11-Mesa-6.8.1-15
xorg-x11-Mesa-devel-6.8.1-15

So, Fedora (for example) does not ship installed .la files for a reason.
Really, libtool is ok'ishly useful for compiling uninstalled software,
but is completely, totally and utterly useless and a waste of my ls
output when installed. So I generally run "find / -name '*.la' -exec rm
{} \;" whenever I see something like this.

[Mjpeg-users] libquicktime from cvs...

2003-06-12 Thread Morten Bøgeskov

Hello

Just a little warning I couldn't get today's libquicktime from cvs to
produce files... but the libquicktime-0.9.2pre1 works great...

the cvs version produces:
"quicktime_open: error in header"
and then hangs (kill -9 is required)

[Mjpeg-users] Libquicktime Make Error

2004-01-10 Thread raen7
Hi.

I have checked the List Archive and apart from a Patch to Libquicktime in 2002
I could not fine a reference to this Error.

I am installing libquicktime-0.9.2 with jpeg-mmx-0.1.4 and
mjpegtools-1.6.1.92.libmjpeg
I have looked at libmjpeg.h lines 44, etc and libmjpeg.c, lines 96 etc, but am
unable to see what is the problem.

Any advice genuinely appreciated.

[Mjpeg-users] libquicktime image size limit?

2003-08-20 Thread Dehoff, Kevin
I don't know if this is in the right place, but here it goes...
I have the CVS version of mjpegtools, and the latest version of libquicktime.
I'm recording from a composite NSTC source at -d1 resolution from a DC10+, (zoran
0.9.4), stero sound, full quality. I continue to have this happen...

bash-2.05b# lavrec -f q -q 100 -U -i n -d 1 -s -w test.mov
Press enter to start recording>
Press enter to pause recording
**ERROR: [lavrec] Error writing to output file test.mov: Internal: broken JPEG format
++ WARN: [lavrec] Closing file(s) and exiting - output file(s) my not be readable due
to error
0.00.00:00 int:208 lst: 0 ins: 0 del: 0 ae: 0 td1=0.000 td2=0.000
Recording time : 0.00.00:00
Lost frames : 000
A/V sync ins/del: 000/000
Audio errors: 000

However, if I use the avi file format, I have no problems with all the same options.
Also no problems for -d12 or -d2 instead of -d1.

Similarly, using lavtrans,

bash-2.05b# lavtrans test.avi -f q -o test.mov
**ERROR: [lavtrans] Error writing output: Internal: broken JPEG format

when using a movie at 640x480 resolution.

I'm wondering if anyone else has had problems with this, or know of a way around it
(other than the obvious "use avi", "use -d12", or "lav2yuv|yuv2lav,
lavaddwav".)

Thanks,
Kevin

It took a little while to realize that the errors were from
building libquicktime instead of mjpegtools - time for another
cup of coffee ;)

The problem I suspect is the version of the PNG library installed
on your system. What version of libpng do you have?

libquicktime is (incorrectly I believe) using to obtain
the definition of 'jmp_buf'. If you look at line 34 in libmjpeg.h
you will see:

#include/* Need setjmp.h included by png.h */

If a program needs it should include it explicitly rather
than relying on another unrelated header file. libmjpeg.h should
have done a '#include ' rather than assuming that
would do it.

It seems that later versions of libpng do include and
the libquicktime folks rely on that behaviour. I'd report that
as a bug in libquicktime.

In the meantime you can work around this in two ways:

1) Add a '#include ' to libmjpeg.h

or

2) Install a newer version of libpng that has the libquicktime
   desired behaviour.

The other warning errors (about bzero, etc) I think are due to not
including .It's possible that libquicktime is relying
on to also do the include of string. You can add a
'#include ' and see if that causes the other warning errors
to go away.

Good Luck!

Cheers,
Steven Schultz

[Mjpeg-users] libquicktime 0.9.4 is out

2005-01-13 Thread Steven M. Schultz
Hi -

The libquicktime project released 0.9.4 yesterday.

If you're using the cvs version of mjpegtools you can now use the
released version of libquicktime instead of the cvs version of
libquicktime if desrired.

cvs version of mjpegtools has had the autoconf/automake files updated
to require 0.9.4 as the minimum version of libquicktime. This is
done with 'pkg-config' (libquicktime is now a pkgconfig enabled
package).

Cheers,
Steven Schultz

Which mjpegtools version do you use, and which version for the quicktime
libary.
Might be a problem with the quicktime libary.

-q 100 might always be a problem, have you tried it with a lower quality
(like -q 95).

Do you have GL/glu.h (usually in /usr/X11/include or a similar
directory)?

Do you have the GL header files installed on the system? I think
those come out of the 'mesaglut-devel' package. Try installing
the Mesa development packages and see if the error goes away.

mesaglut-devel 5.0-62 was installed with my SuSE 8.2 system and I added
mesaglu-devel 5.0-62. I hope this is not a problem. The packages sound
so similar.

Did you run "ldconfig" after installing the packages? I think
ldconfig is the program that creates the symlinks - after installing
libraries on the system it is necessary to run 'ldconfig' and that
updates ld.so.cache as well as creating the symlinks.

No I didn't, because I think, that yast does this job. I ran ldconfig
and tried again:

gcc: /usr/lib/libGL.so: No such file or directory

So I did a ln -s and have now:

ls -l libGL.so*
lrwxrwxrwx1 root root   19 Jan 10 00:36 libGL.so ->
/usr/lib/libGL.so.1
lrwxrwxrwx1 root root   24 Nov 25 03:08 libGL.so.1 ->
GL/libGL.so.1.4.mesasoft

It looks like make and make install worked now. Thanks for your help!

Al

I found that by ignoring the Yast described file conflict between
mesa-devel and XFree86-GLX-devel that libquicktime then compiled.

Mjpegtools then configured and detected libquicktime but now I have a make
Error in mjpegtools as follows:

lav_io.c:946: error: `QUICKTIME_RAW' undeclared (first use in this function)

line 1306 is:
 res = fileno(((quicktime_t *)lav_file->qt_fd)->stream);

Can anyone help and/or should I refer this to Libquicktime Developers?
Thanks yet again

What directory did you install libquicktime into? /usr/local?

The real errors are 'QUICKTIME_RAW' and quicktime_t not being defined.
those are defined in quicktime.h.

WHen you compile what does the 'gcc' line look like? On my system it
looks like this:

gcc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I. -I.. -I.. -I/usr/local/include -DG_LOG_DOMAIN=\"lavtools\"
-DLAVPLAY_VERSION=\"1.6.1.93\" -I/usr/local/include -I/usr/local/include
-I/usr/local/include/quicktime -I/usr/X11R6/include -I /usr/X11R6/include -I../utils
-I/usr/contrib/lib/glib/include -I/usr/contrib/include -I/usr/X11R6/include
-I/packages/mjpegtools-cvs/../jpeg-mmx -mcpu=i686 -march=i386 -g -O2 -Wall -Wunused
-Wmissing-prototypes -Wmissing-declarations -Wpointer-arith -Wcast-align
-Wwrite-strings -Wcast-qual -c lav_io.c -Wp,-MD,.deps/lav_io.TPlo -fPIC -DPIC -o
.libs/lav_io.o

See the -I/usr/local/include/quicktime argument? That will allow
the compiler to find the file quicktime.h which is located in
/usr/local/include/quicktime/quicktime.h

It almost sounds like libquicktime didn't install its files into
where mjpegtools' build process is looking. I think once you
get the CFLAGS set to find the quicktime.h file everything will
build fine.

Cheers,
Steven Schultz

Yes, that fixed it. Thanks again.
