Re: [Mobile.AI] Managing Homescreen Icons on Android 5.1.1

2016-03-11 Thread Zujar Shabbir Kanchwala
Haven't come across such an option, maybe, someone else on the list
can throw light on it. Here's how I remove unrequired app icons from
the home screen:

1. Identify the app icon on home screen to be removed.
2. Long press the same.
3. Swipe it to the upper edge of the screen.

Note:-
1. Swiping to the left or right help you move the app icon to the
previous/next screen if it exists.
2. Sighted users get to see a Remove icon towards the upper edge after
long pressing the app icon which is not indicated by Talkback. I just
swipe the app icon out of the screen to remove it and touch its
location back again to confirm it is removed.

[Mobile.AI] Talkback: weird behaviour

2015-10-24 Thread Zujar Shabbir Kanchwala
Hi All,

Recently I switched from a static wallpaper to a live wallpaper on my Lava
IRIS X8 phone powered by Android Kitkat running Talkback 4.3.1.2. Post this
change, Talkback speaks "Screen Off" when Power switch is pressed to lock
the screen (this is what I wanted since the time I started using Android in
June 2015). Earlier, it used to speak below details:

. Current Date and Time
. Next Alarm Date and Time
. Network Service Provider Name
. "Screen Off"
. Battery Status (unsure if it spoke)

I switched back to static wallpaper to check if it's really due to the
change in wallpaper that Talkback is responding differently to Power switch
press. No wonder! it speaks "Screen Off" now irrespective of the kind of
wallpaper.

. Has someone noticed this behaviour of Talkback earlier?
. Can someone tell me what must have caused this change in the way Talkback
is responding to Power switch press when phone is in the unlocked state?

Best Regards,
Zujar.

I believe MotoG 2nd generation is for Rs. 12,000, a little over budget when
compared to the preset budget of Rs. 8,000 to Rs. 10,000.

Thanks Bhavya for the suggestion! Caller Name Talker worked as desired. And
Yes! it has a good 8 mpx rear camera and 3 mpx front camera with HD video
recording and good quality image capture as told by my family members. I'm
anxious to upgrade it to Android Lollypop which is yet to come for this model.

You have made a great purchase, and, from its specifications, its
 seemingly a powerful device.
Getting to your question about announcement of caller id, to get
repetitive announcement of the caller's name, there are some third
party apps like Call Announcer and Caller Name Talker that provide
this functionality in a more advanced form. Search on the Playstore
and play around with the two mentioned apps, and, revert with any
 persisting questions.
 Thanks.

@ Payal. i've figured out a bit lengthy way to turn off the packet
data and thus stop the consumption on the battery. its not perfect
but works like a charm in a pinch. you will need to install an app
called M guard which is free from nokia store. run a memory check
post installation, and disable whatsap from starting automatically.
now if you want whatsap to stay completely off and not use packet
data, just exit it and reboot your phone. whatsapp is now not enabled
and thus ensures your packet data stayhs off. if only i could figure
out how to do this without re booting my phone ..

@Payal: I checked on my phone and found that It's behaving weird - it reads
contact info of the selected contact from the chat list while it doesn't do
so for the selected contact from the Favourites list. This too is not
certain. Thanks for the mention so that I could discover this.

Another way to read the long messages:
1. Take your curser to the starting of the long message.
2. Press Key1 and select the option Message submenu.
3. Select the option Copy from the menu. Now the message has been copied
to the clipboard.
4. Open the messaging application press Key1 and select the option Editing
submenu.
5. Select the option Paste from the menu. The message has been pasted into
your messaging application.

Now you can read the message with Up, Down, Left and Right arrow keys.

There is no other version of whatsapp that can be used but the one you

upgrade available. i have tried endlessly to be able to get better

information on a group chat, to no avail.

In fact there is a strange thing happening when i look at contact info

of any contact. once in a way it flashes all the details a contact

might have put up like status, last seen and so on. but, this is not a

regular occurance. i am in fact looking for a solution to this as

2014-02-18 Thread Zujar Shabbir Kanchwala
The approaching railway station is announced well in Mumbai suburban trains.
For determining the nearby tower, you need to turn Cell Info Display on.
This option can be found under the below path:

Menu Tools Settings Phone Network Cell Info Display

Press the SELECT key to toggle between On and Off. Note that this works well
on Basic standby theme only. You can switch to the Basic standby theme at
the below path:

Menu Tools Settings General Personalization Themes Standby
Basic

The active theme in the above navigation appears checked, pressing the
SELECT key on a different option switches the theme to the selected option.

Re: [Mobile.AI] few questions regarding whats app-really important for me

2014-01-28 Thread Zujar Shabbir Kanchwala
For sending messages stored on your phone, you need to copy the message
text. Then open WhatsApp, select the desired recipient and hit the SELECT
key to open a chat window. Paste the copied content to the WhatsApp chat
window followed by the SELECT key to send.

For sending quotations stored on your computer, create text files and take
them on to your phone. Select the text file using File Manager application
present on your phone and press the SEND key. You get a popup with various
options that can be made use of, select Via WhatsApp and hit the SELECT key.
WhatsApp is launched, select the desired recipient and het the SELECT key.
It asks for a confirmation (this screen is probably not friendly with the
screen reader), just hit the SELECT key or OPTION 1 key and it would be
sent.

Note that I'm using Symbian 60 based Nokia N79 and the above methods work
well on it. They may differ in case of other phone operating systems.

Best Regards,
Zujar..

Dear friends,
This time I have really a weird question.
I have few great quotations stored in my laptop.
Now I want to send them to my friends via whats app.
Is it possible?
If yes then how?
Another question is I have got few sms messages on my mobile and I would
like to send them by whats app.
Is it possible?
I have heard that we can do this. But couldn't find proper way.
Hoping for a good solution.
Thanks in advance
