Not at all intenting to bring the iPhone/Android battle to the list. But both platforms have their strengths and issues. Apple has done a pretty decent job with iPhone accessibility, that is my impression from some admittedly limited use of the iPhone. But Apple does come across as control freaks, and there is very little customizability available. Absence of a micro sd card support, and issues with mode of transfer like Bluetooth are other issues. As for Android, even the stok Android has room for accessibility improvements. But there is far, far greater customizability in the platform. It comes a lot cheaper as well, you have phones that provide far more storage at prices less than the cheapest available iPhone, and there are any number of free apps on the PlayStore that can address many of our accessibility concerns. Apple has already withdrawn some of the previous versions of Android available in the Indian market that were on the relatively less expensive side. PS. I am a regular Android user who has experience of using the other platform sporadically, and these are just some of my impressions. Re: [Mobile.AI] to buy a new mobile
Among phones with skinned android, Samsung certainly has the best accessibility features in my observance. However I haven't come across a Samsung phone with the latest Android in the mid-range segment. The S5 and the Note3 have got the latest OS, but not in the lower end of things. So it is better to go for a phone with the latest Android rather than getting stuck with a Samsung phone with an older version of the OS. Indian phone makers like Micromax and Xolo offer cheaper phones with latest Android and decent configuration at a price range starting from 7000. But there is a wide-spread perception that their after sales services are not great at all. So a more global brand like LG or Motorola might be a better option. Particularly so if you are spending around 15000. They both come with pretty good quality hardware as well, compared to the Indian models. So I would suggest you find out a bit about the LG L90, LG L70, and Motorola Moto G before taking a call. And if you want to start with an Android phone in the sub-1 range, consider Micromax Unite 2 or a phone from the Q series from Xolo. Overall, complete touch phones aren't quite easy when it comes to type out emails on the go. If lot of typing happens to be a concern, go for touch and type phones. Touch and type phones in Android segment have been scarce. But one can find one touch and type phone online right now. It's Intex Aqua QWERTY. Comes with Android 4.2.2, 5 mp rear camera, 0.3 mp front camera, 512 mb ram, 1.2 dual core processer, 4Gb internal storage, support for external storage up to 32Gb, 3.5 inch display, physical QWERTY keypad and dual SIM. You have to first enable the option, but after that it is quite a help. L90 has a better camera and more internal storage, as well as a slightly bigger screen size. But its sibling the L70 comes at a slightly lower price, around 12500-13000, and its also a pretty decent option. The other obvious option is the Moto G, but it does not have a micro sd card support and that could be a downer for some. All the 3 phones run Android KitKat, the latest version of the Operating System.
