Man, I feel like I've been at the Star Lanes all weekend. I've bowled six games there in less than 36 hours. My thumb is swolen... I was wondering if anyone who was bitching on the This Aint no Picnic message boards about water n' stuff has heard anything lately. I decided last night to go, but I'm still wary...and if I recall, I can't even bring in my parasol. [MMouse]: good books
okay the last book i read was "DANCING QUEEN" by lisa carver. it was entertaining..but i think the more recent writings ive read by her are much better than whats in this book..but still i highly reccomend this. its all essays about her "white trash" upbringings..but she never writes in a mean way..like shes making fun of them..she handles it very well. and theres a lot of interesting stuff about being an awkward teenage girl..and reading too many romance novels as a kid..which i think was funny cause all my female friends are fucked up from reading too many V.C. ANDREW'S books as kids. also good that ive read recently are "miss wyoming" by douglas coupland, "the captain is out to lunh and the sailors have taken voer the ship" by charles bukowski (soo good..a great representation of where bukowski was coming from...its all jounal entries of the last like...two years of his life.) , also the newly released thing by richard braughtigan of old writings..some of his first. (as an interesting conversation peice..think of this...charles bukowski vs. richard braughtiganbraughtigan is more hippy-ish...writing more "happy" poems..and relies on simplicity..and seems to be all about the little things and the beauty of them...but the guy killed himself...while bukowski was an obnoxious guy who hated people and most facetts of existance..but the guy lived to be so old and obviously was stronger willed and seemed to have a better understanding of a beauty of the BIG PICTURE...its just hidden in there more. yeah im an idiot thanks.) and also ANGERY YOUNG MEN-a collection of old beat writing. its a rad really old book...i found it in my attic. im in love with it love andrew
Re: [MMouse]: monkeys getting tampons inserted in their mouths/green party
> But it IS! I know this is mean, but visualize a monkey sitting on a counter. A guy in a lab coat comes a long and stands in front of him. He smiles at the money. The monkey laughs at the lab coat, his mouth open wide. The lab coat whips out a tampon, aims for the mouth, and pull s the trigger. The monkey has a string coming from his mouth. He frowns. Lab Coat's partner hi fives him. The monkey scampers away. Another monkey takes his place on the counter, and another Lab Coat starts smiling at him. And this is the life of a medical research assistant. > And this is not funny. But come on - it is! it's funny in theory, it's sick and wrong in reality. i brought a poster once of all these animals getting tampered with in a lab and i made about ten people cry, but that's the reaction i want and that's the reaction i try to get. plus, it made me realize that some kids around here do have feelings..maybe even more so for animals than people which is fine by me because i feel the same ;) - amy ps i think ralph nader became the official candidate for the green party today. does anyone know where i can call and complain that we haven't gotten a bumper sticker or anything? if they want good support they're gonna have to send bumper stickets, pins, or SOMETHING when people donate like $30 to them. that's just ridiculous not to. we never got a thank you or anything. so anyway, if you have a number where we can reach someone to give some some useful criticsm, that'd be great - thanks.

If you don't like Bright Eyes, buy Cursive's Domestica. If you still haven;t heard Bright Eyes, but Fevers & Mirrors, listen to it incessantly for a week and a half, and the buy Cursive's Domestica. i'm in the middle of reading a book called "the unbearable lightness of being" by milan kundera. it is so very excellent. and an added bonus for any bright eyes fans is that they obviously thought highly of the book as well. many songs carry similar themes that the book deals with, and on "letting off the happiness" the last song is called tomas and tereza, after 2 main characters in the book. go read it. - GINA

Re: [MMouse]: Any good bookz lately>?
Book - "Understanding Comics" by Scott McCloud - A comic book about how comic books "work". I have absolutely no interest in comics whatsoever, but this is easily the most fascinating book I've ever read. If you have any interest in art and how the human mind works, you REALLY should check it out. One of my all-time favorites. Movie - "Bottle Rocket" directed by Wes Anderson - Everyone here should see this movie. Music - "I See a Darkness" by Bonnie "Prince" Billie - This record has been out for a while (early 99), but I just got it a few days ago and it's rocking my world. Possibly the most bizzarely enjoyable album I've heard since "In The Aeroplane Over The Sea". The title track is so beautiful you could pass out and bang your head on something. - Original Message - From: "Shane Overbay" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Saturday, June 24, 2000 5:15 AM Subject: [MMouse]: Any good bookz lately>? > 1.)
