[MMouse]: re: bts

Pleasesomeone. >> >> >>Neil Johnston I saw BTS both Friday (pier) and Sat. The pier show was disappointing being that the crowd was excessively talking. And I'm sorry to report that on Sat. at the early show (which was great to begin with), but on steps idiot Calvin Johnson (Halo Benders) and it almost totally deteriorated. He was singing way too loud and no one bothered to turn him down. And he decided to make more than a spectacle of himself on stage: dancing, swinging the mic around (even more than Bob Pollard), chanting and being what I consider to be ANNOYING, visually and acoustically. It would have been 'ok' for one song, but the idiot stayed on the rest of the entire show (which turned out to be about half). I have seen BTS many times and this was the worst, it wasn't even good. And why they didn't kick his lame ass off stage is beyond belief. mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Sometimes Arlie whines a bit on stage (more drama than I like), but if you like their cd you'll love the show. They haven't played much lately-probably trying to write some new stuff. I guess that Travis left and they have a new bass player. I really want to go but this singer/songwriter, Joseph Arthur, is playing at, of-course, the same time. And since he is from Ohio (via NYC) he hasn't been around much. Check him out: http:www.josepharthur.com http://www.lanset.com/kthalken/

NPR, go figure with it's sweaky-clean sense of some conjured morality. Don't forget Joseph Arthur on July 21 at Dante's (seattle cmj 7/22 baltic room, 7/23 bc starfish). If you haven't heard of him-- he is from akron, ohio and on RealWorld/Virgin. He is really great and does a one man show with his guitar and this 'loop machine'. He is kinda unknown but really good. Check him out at: http://www.josepharthur.com or a more comprehensive fan site w/ lots of very cool links to streaming video, etc: http://www.lanset.com/kthalken/ Deborah ps Juno is at the Crocodile on 7/22 as part of CMJ
Re: [MMouse]: RE: God Ween Satan
I would have to be counted among the ones whom don't like and/or appreciate Ween. I saw them in Seattle for the first time a few weeks ago (on the guest list). They were like seeing a bad movie or bad art. We gave it a chance and then left. To me, they are like some cheesy vaudeville style of superficial humor (shallow stand-up). The over-flocked showmanship is a bit much. But hey, I walk out of alot of shows (and films). I prefer the stage presence of BTS or MM (whom I have seen many times and enjoy the unpretenious unpolishedness). I would rather laugh (darkly) at the conjuring of poetic writing than trite clownishness. Deborah
Re: [MMouse]: Wanted: Your Faves
don't forget: mogwai, smog, juno, joseph arthur, go-betweens, south pacific, rumah sakit, tarentel, . . . . .
Re: [MMouse]: the website message board
yeah, I've been reading some of them. It is probably not too likely that it is the 'real' one. What do you think?
Re: [MMouse]: BTS & Macy Gray
Yeah I saw the bts show. The mc cover was surprisingly good. I'm not a m gray fan. I was disappointed that bts only played 45 minutes. deborah
