RE: [MMouse]: sonic youth or death cab for cutie
without a doubt the death cab...i have seen the youth many times (why i keep going back i'll never know) and think that they just my be the all time most overrated band indie rawk has ever seen...oh well.. chris i agree. but i think saying "they may be the most overrated band indie rawk has ever seen" might be a little too restricting. i think they are the most overrated band in the history of music. i just never got it. but it's ok if YOU like them. johnny.
Re: [MMouse]: HotMouseKids
if we really wanted to take this thing seriously: maybe all the pics should be collected (like have an entry date set) and restart the voting. then have perimeters set so you can only vote once or something.
[MMouse]: 'more movie talk'
three words: gummo. see it. it's like nothing i've ever seen. but then i'm used to the formulated, processed, hollywood movies. so whatever. this movie shatters all of that. rent it. YOU'LL hate it. (apologies to those who don't hate it). (up 'ere in canada, we listen to modest mouse to keep us warm in our igloos)
[MMouse]: cd's
ok. i've had about 40 people email me about the cd-r. i'm gonna make one for everyone that emailed me, but i'm not keeping the emails you guys sent. so, when i get someone's money i'll make them a cd and put it in the mail. if i never get your money i wont realize 'cause i didn't keep the emails. if anyone else wants one just email me and i'll tell you where to send the money. but please be patient guys 'cause like i said, i've got about 40 of you in line already. rock and roll in the year 2000! johnny.
RE: [MMouse]: movies anyone?
story is. you have to admit milla did a wonderful job of playing a psychotic person and her burning eyes are forever imprinted in my memory. yeah, i think milla is a wonderful actress. she did a great job, but the movie still stunk. i'm really surprised no one's listed "twin falls idaho" on there top ten movie lists. i'm not gonna make mine yet 'cause i'm waiting to see "magnolia" and "man on the moon", but i can almost guarantee you "twin falls idaho" will be my number one movie. the only thing that i believe might top it is "magnolia." i can't wait to see that one. johnny.
RE: [MMouse]: the way a leash feels
my favorite movies of the year: (in no particular order) happiness not to be pickyok in fact, to be picky "happiness" and "rushmore" both came out in 1998. so when making a "best of '99" or "favorite movies of the year" list, they should be left off. however, it is quite alright to include them or any other movies in a "best movies of the best two years" or "best movies i saw this year" list (which would have to include all your favorite movies you watched this year no matter how old they are). that's why i like to keep it to a "best of this year" list. sorry to be so picky. johny.
RE: [MMouse]: movies anyone?
3. joan of arc (milla style) i thought this movie was absolutely horrid. it was all i could do to keep from walking out on it. it's the same basic story as braveheart (tramatic episode as child where family dies, then 2 hours of battles, then the hero dies); only differences are this one stars a female and this one sucks. johnny
RE: [MMouse]:
ok. i have a new theory. a believe God created the universe on december 27, 1979, the day i was born. everything is centered around me. on this day god also created everyone else, made them various ages, gave them memories and created everything that else that existed on dec 27 1979. but i am the center of the universe. really, i didn't mean to cause such a ruckus. i honestly dont care that much about it. it's not a major point for myself in regards to religion. i just wanted to present a different theory/belief. god also said that a day is as a million years to him. so, each day of creation could have actually ben a zillion years, and all that stuff (and us) did evolve. as far as dinosaurs existing and noah being 700 years old, there is a (creationist) theory i heard once that explains these things. dinosaurs did exist in the bible. they are mentioned (i.e. leviathon). some creationist scholars believe that before the great flood it had never rained before. there was a mist or canopy covering the earth. there was a lot of dew which made rain unnecessary. when it did rain, it covered the whole earth. afterward, the dinosaurs couldn't take the ultra-violet rays (or whatever) that could come through now that the canopy was gone. so some animals died off. this doesn't really make a lot of sense to me 'cause there are still reptiles and such. also, in the bible god said after the flood that no man would live past 120 years (i think it was 120). and no man in the bible after noah did live more than 120 years and no man that i know of period has lived more than 120 years (i could be wrong. i haven't done extensive research on this). this could also be because the lack of protection from the sun now that the canopy is gone. whatever. dont hate me. sorry for the long non-mm post. i am not a scientist. johnny. there is this thing called a fossil record. its where you can take a bunch of fossils and look at them, and tell that each one is an evolved version of the last. that's how we got here now, and johnny, you can't physically evolve as a person. it takes thousands of years and generations. thank you for your cooperation and concern. ben A. of the 21st century
RE: [MMouse]: sunny day christians
what do you mean "supposedly the world is 2000 years old"? phrased wrong..supposedly ONLY 2000 years old...which is bullshit, since it's millions of years old if not more :P hmm. i am a christian. i believe the bible. i also believe in the creation theory. i believe the world is probably around 10,000 years old. it can't be undoubtedly proven that it is older, just like it can't be undoubtedly proven that the evolution theory is correct, just like it can't be undoubtedly proven that the creation theory is correct. ben, i know you're dying. johnny.
RE: [MMouse]:
yes, sonic youth is the most overrated band in the universe. they suck. johnny i confess. i dont like sonic youth either. i kind of like that one song, "compilation blues" from the DGC rarities comp., but besides that, its just a bunch of noise to me. that's all. ben A.
[MMouse]: i need mice eat cheese
i'm putting together a cd non-cd modest mouse songs. all i need is the "mice eat cheese" from the magic eye tape. can someone please help me out? if someone can send me a (good) copy of the song, i'll send them a CDR of every modest mouse song not available on cd. or we can work out some other trade. also, is the version of "edit the sad parts" on the Long Drive LP the same version as on the Interstate 8 EP? my ears can't tell. but i'm betting that they are. thanks, johnny.
[MMouse]: birds vs. worms 4 sale
Birds vs. Worms 7" up on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItemitem=152725120 johnny.
Re: [MMouse]: Re: eyes wide shut. grrr

[MMouse]: long drive
is the "this is a long drive" double lp out of print? or is the person bidding on it on ebay just dumb? (it's up to $23) johnny.
[MMouse]: braid
So, did anyone else hear about braid breaking up? I'm not sure that any of you actually care, but I figured I would inform those who did not know. NOoo i love braid. like, i LOVE them. so much. are you sure? xoxo nicole it is true. go to their webpage http://www.prairienet.org/braid they are disbanding in august. they've got a few shows before then though, so catch 'em while you can. johnny.
Re: [MMouse]: Braid
not true. when i talked to them at the Yale show in New Haven they said that they were going back in the studio after the tour. straight from the band, the web page which is run by Braid says they are. the may 31st update states that they are breaking up. the june 4th update keeps with this proclomation and has their last shows listed, which are aug 19 - 22.
Re: [MMouse]:
craig kilborn is better than conan. you are funny
Re: [MMouse]: Bedhead (no mm)
Check out Beheaded and Transaction de Novo though every note they've put down is damn fine in my book. Did Bedhead break up?? yup. the last thing they put out was that really cool 10" where the song on the b-side is the song on the a-side upside down. (they took the music sheets and turned them upside down and played it). and "whatfunlifewas" is by far their best album. although, every note they've put down is damn fine, indeed. johnny
[MMouse]: modern lyrics
yeah, i agree...i was the one who said the internet thing and then someone pointed out "jesus christ was on only child" to me--it's when bands mention shit like the internet or leonardo dicaprio (see joan of arc's last album...that part absolutely makes me cringe, altho i love it otherwise) in their songs, in an attempt to sound "hip" or "ironic" or "90s", that i get turned off. yeah. xoxo nicole this list seems to be comprised of a lot of cool people, but shut the fuck up. (insert smiley face) these songwriters you mentioned aren't trying to sound "hip" or "ironic" or "90s". they're just writing songs. and it seems ridiculous that someone would be "turned off" by a song that is written about the times the songwriter lives in. i especially like that joan of arc verse (but probably because he's adapting it from a t.s. eliot line "in the room where women come and go and talk of michelangelo".) but i love the lyrics to that whole freakin' song (and every other tim kinsella song), including "and dear lord for poor fiona. swore on some music awards she wished she'd never been born." that is "90s" and it's fantastic. johnny cakes ps- jesus christ wasn't an only child. he had brothers and sisters. np-where's wolfie.
Re: [MMouse]: Re: Digest modestmouse.v001.n267
-never-ending math equation (which i'm sure was since renamed. . ."i'm the same as i was when i was 6 years old and oh my god i feel so damn old. . .") star nope, it's still called "never ending math equation". it's on the subpop singles club 7".
[MMouse]: VIRUS
shit. DONT open HAPPY.EXE. it's a virus. it came from me, not my fault though, it sends itself. i've been trying to get it off my computer for days now. johnny.
