[Mono-list] mBloggy 0.1 released

2004-08-09 Thread Pablo Fischer
Hi!

The first release of mBloggy is released.

mBloggy is a C#/Gtk# client to send/edit/delete posts to a blog, it
supports XMLRPC (Blogger and Metaweblog) and SOAP (bloggyws, JUST for
Jaws).

Each *blog service* works as a plugin (.dll, P/Invoke) that the client
reads and use to connect with the blog service.

This is my first app in Mono, so maybe some users can find some bugs
sending posts with XMLRPC very fast.

Thanks to mono community for helping me with P/Invoke issues and some
other issues.

For next release I promise to clean the code.

Url: http://mbloggy.jaws.com.mx

Tested with: 1.0 stuff.

See ya!

[Mono-list] Events / Assign Variable Event

2004-07-27 Thread Pablo Fischer
Hi!

I have a class that returns a Stream of a downloaded image, so one the
image is downloaded I just assign it to a pixbuf for example

Pixbuf p = new Pixbuf (RemoteImage.Image);

However, I need to Close the request, is there an event that can be
executed once I pass a variable to another object?. What I'm looking for
is to close the Stream once I create the Pixbuf (new Pixbuf
(RemoteImage.Image)) automatically.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

RE: [Mono-list] Using Exceptions with external Plugins

Thanks!

However, I think the best idea is to use generic Exceptions, if I try to
use the CookComputing.XmlRpc Exceptions I need to compile ALL my
application with CookComputing.dll and I'm not looking that, that's why
I'm working with plugins to just compile CookComputing.XmlRpc in the
plugins and not in all the application.

Thanks for these suggestions!

 You might want to take advantage of the fact that Type.InvokeMember actually
 performs virtual dispatch based on the runtime type of the object *AND* all
 of the parameters, IE, it performs double/triple/ntuple dispatch.

 That means the following will work the way you want it to:

 catch( TargetInvocationException e )
 {
   Type t = this.GetType();
   t.InvokeMember( HandleException, BindingFlags.InvokeMethod |
   BindingFlags.Instance | BindingFlags.NonPublic, null,
 this, new object[]{ e } );
 }

 // ...

 private void HandleException( CookComputing.XmlRpc.XmlRpcFaultException e )
 {
//...
 }

 private void HandleException( FooException e )
 {
//...
 }

 private void HandleException( Exception e )
 {
// called if there are no other matching signatures
 }

 Of course, it isn't particularly fast...

 The docs on TargetInvocationException has this:

 When created, the TargetInvocationException is passed a reference to the
 exception thrown by the method invoked through reflection. The
 InnerException property holds the underlying exception.

 So tex.InnerException should give you what you need.

[Mono-list] Casting and Plugin Issue

2004-06-27 Thread Pablo Fischer
Hi!

I'll explain what I'm doing and what I'm looking for:

I've three plugins to post/get data from different Blogs (supporting
XMLRPC and SOAP). In order to standardize these plugins I'm using
Interfaces and three type of Structs (PostStruct, BlogStruct,
CategoryStruct) each one XmlSerialized.

So, the method to retrieve a list of posts should return a PostStruct.

The problem is: When I'm using the plugin to Invoke the methods of these
plugins (dll's) I'm having problems with these objects, for example:

my_method = t.GetMethod(MGetPosts);
object retVal = my_method.Invoke(activator,
BindingFlags.Instance |
BindingFlags.NonPublic |
BindingFlags.InvokeMethod,
null,
new Object[]{3, user},
null);

Will return a PostStruct (cause I'm asking for Posts) with the last 3
posts (3, and the userInfo).

When I do a WriteLine of retVal I get a PostStruct, that should be,
however, When I try to cast retVal to a PostStruct so I can read I get
this:

Unhandled Exception: System.InvalidCastException: Cannot cast from
source type to destination type.
in 0x0020e PluginLoader:Main (string[])

From:

PostStruct p = (PostStruct)retVal;

What I'm doing wrong if the Console.WriteLine(retVal) show me that
retVal is a PostStruct?.

Any Clues?

I'm running Beta3

Thanks!
Pablo

Re: [Mono-list] Casting and Plugin Issue

2004-06-27 Thread Pablo Fischer
Hi!

 Maybe you're compiling the source file where PostStruct is defined in
 both assemblies, caller and callee. What you should do is to compile it
 only in the caller, and then compile the plugin with a reference to the
 caller assembly. Beware that you can't do this if the caller is an
 exe.

Yeah, It works!. I compiled these *Struct.cs files as a Assembly (dll)
and I'm compiling the plugin and main app with a reference to Struct.dll
and it works!.

 Maybe you could also add an interface, lets say IPlugin, which defines
 the method GetPosts. This way you wouldn't have to use reflection in
 order to invoke methods.

Uhm, I did not understand very well this. In IPlugin.cs I have defined
these methods (GetPost, GetPosts, etc) and in each Plugin I'm inheriting
from it (IPlugin) so with the Wrapper I just call GetPost instead of
calling each method with different names (Blogger, MetaWebLog,
LiveJournal, etc). Or you have another idea? :-)

Thanks!!
Pablo

Re: [Mono-list] Casting and Plugin Issue

2004-06-27 Thread Pablo Fischer
Hi!

 I don't have any other idea, but I thought that maybe instead of doing:

 snip
 my_method = t.GetMethod(MGetPosts);
 object retVal = my_method.Invoke(activator,
 BindingFlags.Instance |
   BindingFlags.NonPublic |
   BindingFlags.InvokeMethod,
 null,
 new Object[]{3, user},
 null);
 /snip

 You could do:

   IPluging p = (IPlugin)t;
   object retVal = p.MGetPosts(3, user);

Sounds great, I tried what you said with two assemblies: one is the
Structs.dll (*Struct.cs) and the other Plugin.dll (Plugin.cs and the
interface IPlugin.cs), then I compiled MyApp with

mcs MyApp.cs -r Structs.dll

And then tried to cast it, and it fails:

Test7.cs(20) error CS0246: Cannot find type `IPlugin'

Also I did a Console.WriteLine to 't' (Type) and prints
MBloggy.Plugins.IPlugin.

Seems that I can't cast an interface, or what I'm doing wrong?.

 Assembly a;
 Type t;
 MethodInfo my_method;

 a = Assembly.LoadFrom(BloggerPlugin.dll);
 t = a.GetType(MBloggy.Plugins.IPlugin);
 Console.WriteLine(t);

As I said, I'm testing what you suggested, but with Reflections the
plugins are working great!

Thanks

Re: [Mono-list] Casting and Plugin Issue

Yes sorry.

However, 't' is a BloggerPlugin that is inherited from an Interface
(IPlugin), how can I cast it and use it as an Object, like this:

 IPluging p = (IPlugin)t;
 object retVal = p.MGetPosts(3, user);

Can I cast an object that is inherited so the casted object will be the
'father' object?. Like this:

class Foo {
Foo() {}
public void Read() {
//Something
}
}

class Bar : Foo {
Bar() {}
}

Bar b = (Bar)f;

I tried and it fails:

Unhandled Exception: System.InvalidCastException: Cannot cast from
source type to destination type.
in 0x00080 PluginLoader:Main (string[])

[Mono-list] XSP links bug?

2004-06-15 Thread Pablo Fischer
Hi!

I'm running xsp 0.14. I have a file.webapp, with this data:

apps
  web-application
namesamples/name
vpath/samples/vpath
path/usr/share/asp.net-demos/asp/path
  /web-application
/apps

When I start xsp:

xsp --port 8081 --appconfigdir /etc/xsp (where I have file.webapp)

It starts, but when I go to http://localhost:8081/samples it opens a
index.aspx (as expected), but the links of the samples are:

http://localhost:8081/session1.aspx

INSTEAD of

http://localhost:8081/samples/session1.aspx

I found that if I replaced the /samples with /samples/ in file.webapp
it's fixed, however I need to point my browser to
http://localhost:8081/samples/ (note the last slash).

Is it a bug?.
Thanks!

[Mono-list] MonoApplicationsConfigDir instead of MonoApplications

2004-06-13 Thread Pablo Fischer
Hi!

I'm running mod-mono-server 0.14 and mod_mono 0.10.

I'm trying to run many applications using a .webapp file. However, when
I try to view an application with my browser I get a:

Service Temporarily Unavailable

In error.log are messages like:

Not running mod-mono-server.exe because no MonoApplications specified

So, how can I use MonoApplicationsConfigDir to read those
'MonoApplications' instead of using the MonoApplications directive?, is
there a trick?.

I preffer a .webapp cause each user can setup his applications instead
of writing them in mono.conf.

Thanks!

Re: [Mono-list] MonoApplicationsConfigDir instead of MonoApplications

2004-06-13 Thread Pablo Fischer
Hi!

Well, I don't know whats happening with my mod_mono, I did that and
worked, then get back (removed MonoApplications and replace
MonoApplicationsConfigDir) and is working with webapps (without
MonoApplications) I restarted my computeres and continues working,
strange...

Also, When I try to open http://localhost/samples the browser tries to
download the page (like a zip), but if I open:
http://localhost/samples/button.aspx it works.

My mono.conf

# Default configuration, don't edit it!
IfModule mod_mono.c
  MonoUnixSocket /tmp/.mod_mono_server
  MonoServerPath /usr/share/dotnet/bin/mod-mono-server.exe
  AddType application/x-asp-net .aspx .ashx .asmx .ascx .asax .config
.ascx
  MonoApplicationsConfigDir /etc/mono-server
  MonoPath /usr/share/dotnet/lib:/usr/lib:/usr/share/dotnet/lib
 Alias /samples /usr/share/asp.net-demos/asp
   Directory /usr/share/asp.net-demos/asp
 SetHandler mono
   IfModule mod_dir.c
  DirectoryIndex index.aspx
   /IfModule
   /Directory
/IfModule

Maybe more bugs?

 That was a bug in 0.10 that is fixed in CVS. If you dare, try it from
 CVS, if not, add one application using the MonoApplications directive
 and the rest with .webapp files as a workaround until next release (that
 will be soon).

Re: [Mono-list] Debian help

2004-06-07 Thread Pablo Fischer
Hi!

This is what we have at pkg-mono:

Unstable (official): 0.31
Unstable (queued): beta1, if you try (as you said) to install mono from
unstable you will find problems with dependencies, we have two packages
in the queue, but we can't do nothing for this situation, just wait.
Beta 1: at pkg-mono.alioth.debian.org we are uploading the last
releases, add this to your sources.list:

deb http://pkg-mono.alioth.debian.org/beta1 ./

Beta 2: in process, we are having little problems with System.Drawing
and the GAC.

I suggest you to install beta1 if it's very urgent for you (pkg-mono
repo) or wait for beta2 (at the repo to, just change beta1 for beta2).

Beta1 is 'nice', however the support for System.Web or
System.WebServices is poor, and all this bugs (well, most of them) are
fixed in beta2, so.. choose your repo ;-)

You can find us at #debian-mono (at freenode).

See ya

[Mono-list] Multiple Root in XSP

2004-02-28 Thread Pablo Fischer
Hi!

Ok, I'll explain my problem: I have 2 projects:

* asp.net-examples (/usr/share/asp.net-examples/asp)
* school projects (/pablo/aspnet)

What I'm looking for, is to run both projects with XSP but each one with
a --root.

I need to tell --root to both projects, cause If I just run with :

--applications
/samples:/usr/share/asp.net-examples/asp,/school:/pablo/aspnet

It runs ok, but in the browser I can't see the images (for example, the
mono logo in /samples), cause the WebServer doesn't know where to look
the images (the root dir).

I found that I can solve my problem running two xsp's, each one with a
different root, for example:

xsp --root /usr/share/asp.net-examples/asp --applications
/samples:/usr/share/asp.net-examples/asp

xsp --port 8081 --root /pablo/aspnet --applications /pablo/aspnet

But that isn't too secure, cause I'm using 2 ports, just to imagine when
I need to test 10 projects, 10 ports?.

So, I'd like to know If I can give to --root multiple paths, and when I
access via Browser xsp will know which --root to use.

Thanks!

 By putting a bunch of echo statements into the postinst script, I was

 it is this, apparently, which aborts with exit code 10 and no error

 I took a guess that this line was somehow related to debconf and

 Any chance of libapache-mod-mono-cvs? I imagine that would be easy

Ok, we have been talking about that in the #debian-mono channel:

* Build two versions: the snapshots (the -cvs prefix will be renamed to
snapshot) and the 'official' packages (.26, .28, .29).
* When I released the last packages (debian2.pablo.com.mx) I needed to
edit the debian/rules (the file that do must part of the build package
process) and found problems with the libs: I cannot be compiling two
versions (official and cvs) in the same computer cause if some file of
the official package get in contact with a cvs version that will be
painfull.
* What we are going to do?, I'm going to prepare both packages, but I'm
going to build all the snapshots versions (mono/mcs/mod_mono/xsp/others)
but I need another person or to access to a remote computer to build a
cleanly official package.
* I know that I can fix these issues but if I remember, when I make a
debian package I cannot be using paths like $HOME/directory/file/etc to
point to a 'virtual root (like doing a chroot)', why? because if someone
tries to use my files of debian/ and doesn't have the directories that I
used.. he is going to have some problems.

Also don't worry, I'll take care of the snapshot versions once we have
the final debian/ files (we are in a 98%). :).

Re: [Mono-list] Mono Debian Packages

2004-01-09 Thread Pablo Fischer
Hello Michael!

 Can i now download the files anywhere or can i download it with apt-get?

Today I have mcs, mono, xsp and mod_mono for apache 1.3 tested (I'm
creating a new one for apache 2). I need to look where to upload them
cause the hard disk of my server crashed.

Tomorrow I'll upload the packages that I have to a RH server where you
need to download them.. one by one. And the next wednesday you can
download them with apt-get (tomorrow I will go for a new HD and install
it in Monday or Tuesday).

Also, the relase that I'm working is the .28, cause I hate the .29, lots
of errors in the build process and they will be for unstable, so, If
someone wants to help me with the stable packages, thanks!, just mail
me!.

 Have you tried adding 'export' statements to your profile?

 export MONO_PATH
 export PATH
 export BOOTSTRAP_MCS

 That causes make to set the variable for sub-makes and set it in the
 environment, which is what you need for the PATH variables.

[Mono-list] A Build Profiles Issue

2004-01-06 Thread Pablo Fischer
Hi!

Well, thanks for all for helping me with the enviroment vars that use
the build system of mcs.

Now, I'm creating a profile (build/profiles/debian.make) adding this
text:

MONO_PATH=/home/unmada/debian/mono-0.28/runtime:/home/unmada/debian/mono-0.28/debian/tmp/usr/lib:/home/unmada/debian/monopackage
PATH=/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/bin/X11:/usr/games:/home/unmada/debian/monopackage
 BOOTSTRAP_MCS=/home/unmada/debian/monopackage/mcs
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/home/unmada/debian/mono-0.28/debian/libmono0/usr/lib:/home/unmada/debian/mono-0.28/runtime
RUNTIME=/home/unmada/debian/mono-0.28/debian/mono-jit/usr/bin/mono.exe

profile-check:

PROFILE_MCS_FLAGS = -d:NET_1_1

And then I build it with

$ make PROFILE=debian

And obvious, it stops, why? don't know.. but I found that if I export
every variable it start compiling some libs but then it stops again
giving me an error that It can not find corlib.dll (and corlib is in the
mono path!).

Also, I was looking the other profiles and any of them export their
variables.

And yes, if I type:

$ make EVERY_VAR.. like..

$ make MONO_PATH=blabla PATH=blabla BOOTSTRAP_MCS=blabla..

it compiles ok!, so I think the error is in my profile.

Any help please?
Thanks

[Mono-list] Mono Enviroment Variables

2004-01-05 Thread Pablo Fischer
Hi!

A few days ago I asked how to compile mcs-0.28 with a different mcs.exe
version, and hopefully I got answers :).

Now, I have another problem, one thing is to tell the mcs.exe and the
other is to tell where the libmono lib (version .28) is.

So, somebody knows all the enviroment variables that use MCS?.

My plans are: use officialy the CVS version, so I'm not looking to be
making downgrades and upgrades.

Thanks!

 The MCS build system uses two variables that will be of interest to you:
 BOOTSTRAP_MCS, which is used to compile the new mcs and corlib, and MCS,
 which is used to compile the rest of the libraries. MCS is in turn
 defined in terms of INTERNAL_MCS, which is the mcs.exe compiled while
 building the class libraries.

 Anyway, all you should need to do is set those variables and you should
 be good to go. You may also need to set the RUNTIME variable if you want
 to use a specific version of the mono runtime.

 $ make MCS=/path/to/my/mcs.exe BOOTSTRAP_MCS=/path/to/my/mcs.exe

 You might make a build profile out of that setup by creating a make
 fragment in mcs/build/profiles/myprofile.make that sets the variables
 that you need; then you can just do

 $ make PROFILE=myprofile

Hi!

Well, First, I said thanks cause I thought that would work :), but it
isn't.

If I run in mcs-0.28 make with:

make MCS=/home/unmada/debian/mono-0.28/debian/tmp/usr/bin/mcs
BOOTSTRAP_MCS=/home/unmada/debian/mono-0.28/debian/tmp/usr/bin/mcs
RUNTIME=/home/unmada/debian/mono-0.28/debian/mono-jit/usr/bin/mono.exe

The first two files are compiled ok, but when It tries to compile corlib
it fails with the following error:

System/Decimal.cs(168) error CS1502: The best overloaded match for
method 'int System.Int32[].GetLength (int)' has some invalid arguments
System/Decimal.cs(168) error CS1503: Argument 0: Cannot convert from

System/Decimal.cs(168) error CS1501: No overload for method `GetLength'

And there, other 15 errors appears, am I doing something wrong?

Thanks!

[Mono-list] Mono Debian Packages

2003-12-31 Thread Pablo Fischer
Hi!

Well, I'm creating debian packages for mono, mcs, gtksharp, xsp and
mod_mono, both 'stable' versions and CVS versions.

For the CVS Versions I'm going to be creating new packages every Friday.

What I'm trying to say? Soon the Debian users can start using debian
packages again (since the last deb package was .26-2 by Alp).

I can't upload the package to my debian server cause I have serious
problems with the SCSI HD but If someone has a good bandwith I can
upload the packages to a Debian Server.

Also, the packages are for 'unstable' if a 'stable' user wants to help
me with stable packages, please mail me.

Thanks an Happy new Year!

 If you save the wsdl to a file, then run wsdl on that file it appears to
 generate correct code. Unfortunately I don't have time to work on this
 at the moment, but it does look like a bug in reading XML from a network
 stream.

 Coincidently, the close-tag that is failing is the same one that the IP

[Mono-list] Mono Documentation Project

2003-12-08 Thread Pablo Fischer
Hi!

Yesterday (or today for the first hours) I was in the #mono channel and
everybody (more Miguel than others) about the MonkeyGuide, to write more
docs and in a 'better and easy' format, so my ideas are:

* Create a system, that will have a client, a website (for mozie users)
and a WebService. The concept idea:

* A Client where the 'documentation' guys can Add/Delete/Modify
sections, subsectiosn, content in a easy way, for example if I like to
create documentation I just run the client, connect to the site and
communicdate via SOAP or XMLRPC and check the sections that exists or
create new sections (for example a gtkhtml-sharp section) and Add
content and th econtent will be send to the Webservice (that could be in
phpxmlrpc, or pure ASP.NET).

* But Why just a client and a webservice? I think that the client could
have a 'parser' that will convert the typical html, text, docbook style
to ECMA. So, when the documentation is send to the Webservice, the
content will be 100% compatible with the ECMA Standard Documentation.

* So a mortal user can download the monkeyguide module for monodoc and
ALL the documentation of monodoc will be 100% ECMA Style.

* And also, the website of MonkeyGuide (like gotmono.com) could give so
many options for the 'mortal user', for example: using templates, many
languages, select their sections and download them as pdf, html, docbook
or ecma style!.

Maybe sound very stupid my idea, but this may help for new users to
download the source code and learn to use XmlRpc (or Soap), WebServices,
Gtk#.. etc..etc..

And however, thanks!
Pablo Fischer (pabl0).

  create documentation I just run the client, connect to the site and

  create new sections (for example a gtkhtml-sharp section) and Add
  content and th econtent will be send to the Webservice (that could be in

 Unlike the Mono Class Library documentation where the stubs are already

 The problem with the handbook is a human problem: someone needs to read
 the whole text, make changes, edits, removals, clarifications, updates
 and this is a manual process. Unlike the class library documentation
 where things are fairly well isolated and the framework is set, in this
 case you need someone to actively drive this process, and a tool is not
 the solution to the problem, the Monkeyguide problem has nothing to do
 with tools.

[Mono-list] CookComputing Exceptions TimeStamp question

2003-12-05 Thread Pablo Fischer
Hi!

Well as somebody knows and somebody dont :), Im creating mBloggy (a gtk#
client to connect to a blog and post/remove/edit posts), today I can do
all of that :), but I'm making it easier for the 'end-users', ok.. The
question..

I've been testing and looking for all the posibles Exceptions in
CookComputing.XmlRpc, However I have a problem, If I don't edit/post or
something to the site, simply.. my app hangs with a *nice* message in
the terminal (message.. NOT Exception):

nread == 0: may be the connection was closed?

So, somebody knows how to 'catch' this type of messages?.. Also, I have
another Idea but I don't know how to do this:

Create a DateTime (or TimeStamp) object every time I connect, and BEFORE
doing other thing (such as editing/deleting/posting) check that
TimeStamp with a 'current' one, and check the difference in seconds..
How can I do this?.

Thanks!
Pablo

Re: [Mono-list] Encoding Decoding..

2003-12-05 Thread Pablo Fischer
Yeah.. we are talking about the same subject: Encoding, however, I'm not
using a file, I'm using a simple string to send it via xmlrpc to my
site.

For example, when I send messages with quoted words to my blog, they
appear like:
EL NIO *|* El nio canta una cancin

Where it needs to say: El Nio canta una cancin (I know, a stupid
test).

So, I'm not looking to decode/encode a file, I'm looking to
encode/decode strings :(, thanks anyway!

 I don't know if I catched your question. If I'm not wrong, you want
 support for characters that are recognized by the stream. Sometime ago I

 stream object.

 In my case, I made up a stream with this

   StreamReader reader = new StreamReader (file_name,
   new UTF7Encoding ());

 With this, the input uses another encoding, ovveriding the default one.
 Maybe you will have to check if UTF7Encoding or UTF8Encoding is the best
 for you (Note that I haven't used XML in Mono too much ).

 Carlos.

[Mono-list] Deserialize with an index

2003-12-03 Thread Pablo Fischer
Hi!

I'm looking to deserialize a 'xml serializable' file.. but with an
index, let me explain:

I have a file called accounts, in this file I have this xml structure:
mblogg
  mbloggyaccounts
account
  usernamejoe/username
  passwordfoobar/password
  identifierfoobar website/identifier
  urlfoobar.com/xmlrpc.php/url
/account
  /mbloggyaccounts
/mbloggy

Today I can deserialize it into an ArrayList, however Im looking to
'generate' and index, so I can access/update/delete data very easy, for
example:

accounts.updateAccounts(1, account_info_array);

So I'll update the information (account_info_arrray) of the Account
number 1.

More clear? I'm looking to access the information more easier with an
index (an autoincrement).

Also.. I DONT want to save that index in the file, I just need the index
in the memory to access more faster.

Another note: I can have information 'repeated', for example I can have
the same username (if the user has many sites but with the same
username) or the same site with different usernames passwords.

Thanks anyway!

I think, create a simple bash script that executes it and save it in

 Subject: [Mono-list] Mono Ideas

 Hello!

 Well, the last week I talk with a consultant of Microsoft in Mexico that
 his job is to develop applications in .NET, so here are some ideas that
 maybe exists or maybe not in the mono world :)

 1. I think that in the application side (the exes that all we know) Mono
 has a good position, I can develop applications in Linux/Mono, compile
 them and in windows download them and just run them, without installing
 Mono in the other side (also if we are not going to develop, just to run
 the application). In the Visual way I think they're equal, in the MS.NET
 world you can use the VisualStudio and use SWF and in Mono you can use
 Glade (that I think it's better, cause you can run it in more OS -gtk-
 than the SWF).

 2. Also, the man shows me the real power today of .NET. He created a
 simple Hello World application and ask me that f*** question: What do
 you want to do today?.. urgh.. he compiled and copied the code to his
 www root directory and opened it in a browser.. then opened an exe with
 the same interface :(.. and then copied it to his pocket pc and opened
 in it!!!. So I have a question.. Today, in Mono I can create
 applications for PocketPcs, Web applications and the same time?

 3. And also.. he allows me to create a simple web page in ASP.NET using
 VisualStudio first and then WebMatrix, wow.. I created a stupid w page
 in 5 minutes with labels, fields, calendar, validators and get data of a
 AccessDB in 5minutes!. So my question is: Exists or plans to be an
 opensource project similar to WebMatrix? for developing ASP.NET websites
 very fast?. If not, I thing that would be a good idea, I can contribute
 with code or as beta tester

 Thanks and happy hacking!

[Mono-list] The Exceptions and the protection Levels...

2003-10-19 Thread Pablo Fischer
Hi!

Well Im testing mbloggy but I'm having a problem when connecting (using
CookComputing.XmlRpc), I have a method (Connect) that returns true or
false if the client can connect to the site. However I'm 'extending' my
app from the CookComputing.XmlRpc so to connect to the site I just need
this.Url = url, The problem begins using exceptions (to catch all the
posible errors) cause I'm getting a:

mBloggyClient.cs(69) error CS0122: `url' is inaccessible due to its
protection level

So, any options for working with methods/members 'extended' from other
classes?

ThankS!

[Mono-list] Gtk#+Mono = Windows Crazy? or Wrong Version

2003-10-06 Thread Pablo Fischer
Hello!!

I need to install Mono and Gtk# in 25 computers running Windows (Im
going to develop an app for the university in Linux and run it in
Windows).

Im installing this packages in this order:

* .NET FrameWork
* Mono-.28 (I tried with .25 and I have the same error)
* Gtk#-10, but the stable version (like 3.xx MB), it contains the
GtkRuntime

Now Im testing with a simple app created with glade-sharp, gtk-sharp,
its a simple button that says: Bye World. But Everytime I try to run it
it crashes, giving me this error:

FAiled to load function gtksharp_glade_xml_get_filename from
gtksharpglue (this error appers twice)

Unhandled Exception: System.TypeInitializationException: An exception
was thrown by the type initializer for
Gtk.Application---System.NullReferenceException: A null value was found
where an object instance was required.

I compiled this in my linux, running

Mono .26
gnome, gtk, glib, gtk-sharp-glue with .8-1

Thanks!

Re: [Mono-list] Gtk#+Mono = Windows Crazy? or Wrong Version

2003-10-06 Thread Pablo Fischer
Why?.. I didnt know that I needed just Mono to run Gtk, cause in
go-mono.com, one of the requirements for Gtk# are Gtk Runtime and .NET,
but if It's not necesarry.. I'll remove it :).

Ok, I'm a Debian user and a fan of apt-get.. so the last version for
Debian (Alp's Repository) is the .26. I know that I can compile it and I
really want to do that.. but damn.. I love apt-get :).

So, If in the Windows (2k) I uninstall the .NET framework, change the
Mono version from .28 to .25 (cause .26 doesnt works for me) and the
Gtk# from .10 to .8 it will work?,

Also, another question: If I have my .exe app, the windows users can
download and use it with .NET (installing the gtk# in the .NET
directory) but WITHOUT mono, does my app will work or needs of Mono?

Thanks!

 runtime on both operating systems will allow you to have greater
 confidence in the functionality of your software.

  * Gtk#-10, but the stable version (like 3.xx MB), it contains the
  GtkRuntime

  Now Im testing with a simple app created with glade-sharp, gtk-sharp,
  its a simple button that says: Bye World. But Everytime I try to run it
  it crashes, giving me this error:

  FAiled to load function gtksharp_glade_xml_get_filename from

[Mono-list] Modify XML Docs

2003-10-05 Thread Pablo Fischer
Hi!

Im creating an app (mBloggy, to post 'posts' to a blog), however I'm
going to use a xml file to save the user configuration (the blogs).
Today I can write (JUST new files), read it and identify some parts, but
I dont undestand what the inet says about modifying xml files, so How
can I modify an xml file? to modify nodes and remove elements, for
example:

mbloggy
 account
  usernamePablo/username
  passwordCrypted/password
  identifierPersonal WebSite/identifier
  urlhttp://pablo.com.mx/xmlrpc.php/url
 /account
 account
... the same..
  /account
/mbloggy

Thanks!

But today I can 'talk' with the xmlrpc file in my server and post

Re: [Mono-list] Modify XML Docs

2003-10-05 Thread Pablo Fischer
Hello Miguel!

Well Im creating something like that, cause I'm loading the xmlfile
(LoadConfigFile) in a struct like this:

  private struct ConfigInfo {
string username;
string password;
string url;
string identifier;
  }

So if the file exists I 'load' the file in a struct

ConfigInfo[] configtmp = new ConfigInfo[node_username.Count];

And then start 'saving' the xml data in the struct.

Once I have the configtmp loaded I just use it every time I need some
information. But what happens if the user wants to remove an account or
modify something (like the password), how can I save that to my xml
file?

Thanks!

Hi!

Ok, I'll check the xml serialization, however the configuration NEEDS to
be saved in a file, not in 'the fly', so every change to the accounts
needs to be saved to the file (and then to the array, an array list or a
struct array).

Thanks!

 Reserialize it. Read the msdn docs.

Uhm..

After sending the last reply I think in that option..

1. Load the xml file like you and Miguel says
2. Work in the array list with add/remove
3. After closing the app (delete_event), creates the new xml file

Is it a good idea?

Thanks!

Yeah, I didnt know that, now I'm using two classes, arraylist (in one
class) and the XmlSerializer and I can add, remove and modify accounts.
And everytime the user want's to exit from mBloggy the XmlSerializer
will update the XmlFile.

Thanks!

 read-in the structures for you.

[Mono-list] Autoconnect and Glade

2003-06-25 Thread Pablo Fischer
HI!

A few months ago I update my version of mono (apt-get install mono, from the
site located in debianplanet.com), now that I have time again to continue
working in a project I get and error running a file that loads a Glade file
(the GUI), the error looks like this:

[EMAIL PROTECTED] Yaka]$ mono yaka.exe

** ERROR **: Invalid IL code at IL0019 in 00 .SignalConnector:Autoconnect ():
IL_0019: ldsfld0x0a0a

aborting...

I tried to comment the line of Autoconnect from my .cs file and it works, but
I cant get the events of the buttons :(, just the GUI.

Suggestions?

Thanks!

Hi!

Yep, I update it (gtk#). However looking in google I found that there are
errors with the .8 version of the Debian Package, So I remove it (apt-get
remove gtk-sharp) and compile the last version?, the result?, it works! now I
can open my programs again! :-)

So in the next hours I will release a debian package with the last gtk version
and upload it to my website.

Also, theres no problem running Mono .24 with gtk# .10?
Thanks :-)

Now that I have time to start building an application (A point of Sale

very basic level (just how to call the glade files).

2. Also, where could I found more examples of glade#? exists some
'complete' application(s) in glade#?.

 Hmm. That is not really in glade#.
 All Widgets, that have the [Glade.Widget] Attribute are accessible just
 like normal gtk+ Widgets.

 You'll most likely want to have some Gtk+ docs.
