[MOPO] A Great Day in the history of world wide justice.

2011-05-02 Thread Adrian Cowdry

At last Osama Bin Laden has been brought to justice.

American forces have dealt a blow to the forces of evil that are
responsible for the war on terror.

Unfortunately Bin Laden will be seen as a martyr in the eyes of some
and there will undoubtedly be reprisals from those who followed Bin
Laden.

However the head of the serpent has been severed, now it remains that
the rest of the serpent be destroyed, this may take time it has taken
nearly ten years to find the serpents head and destroy it. This is not
the end of the war on terror, there are too many conflicts in the
middle east ongoing that will not stop overnight.

But this is a major victory in the war on Terror and to use the words
of Churchill about the defeat of Rommel's forces in North Africa "Now
this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. but it
is, perhaps, the end of the beginning." Hopefully the strike against Al
Qaidya last night is more like the beginning of the end and soon we can
see our boys return home. Perhaps the light at the end of the tunnel
can be seen.

From one Brit to those who performed what became an almost impossible
task, that of tracking down the worlds most wanted man, I congratulate
you and wish I could buy you a beer because you surely deserve it.

2011-05-02 Thread James Gresham
Ari, I think most people would agree, we dont really celebrate a death.
Yet, in this case Osama Bin Laden was a monster, an evil person. He killed
babies, children, women, and innocent men. And he bragged about it. You
have to agree, even if you dont understand the US perspective, that the
World is a better place today without someone who had no qualms about
killing. On May 1st 1945 the world woke to the news that Adolf Hitler was
dead. Now, on May 1st 2011, it awakes to similar good news. Fortunately,
Osama didnt do the same damage that Hitler did. But, they both were beasts.

[MOPO] WTB Pressbooks

2011-05-02 Thread MnTwister
I am looking for pressbooks for
(very important to me):

There's No Business like Show Business(large Cinemascope True Grit, edition)
How to Marry a Millionaire, (Large cinemascope edition)
Samson and Delilah (oversized red cover)
Hercules Unchained (oversize color cover),
The King and I (Cinemascope 55)
South Pacific (larger edition not the regular fox exib.manual)
any other Fox Cinemascope large formats from '54-56.

also on my want list: Vera Cruz, High and Low, The Music Room, Kiss me Deadly,
Big Jake, Diabolique, The Hustler, Horse Soldiers,Twelve O'Clock High, Houdini,
Man who could Cheat Death, Greatest Story Ever Told (larger sized), Sweet Smell
of Success, True Grit, Oceans 11, Poltergeist, A Star is Born (1954), Rio Bravo.

I do not mind small cuts, the most important part is the news headlines section
with news stories(behind the scenes, publicity articles). I write about movies
for a website and prefer to buy these but would pay to loan them from you (I
have over 500 feedback on Ebay 100% honest guy here). To those of you who
answered my last post, I am almost complete with my want list but thought I
would post this one for now until that is done sometime this week..

[MOPO] WTB PRESSBOOKS: ADDED NOTE

2011-05-02 Thread MnTwister
Sorry I forgot to add that I am interested also in pressbook lots. I am
interested in many more titles than I listed in my post a few minutes ago.
Please send lists, or lot lists with price. I do not re-sell, I am a pressbook
addict who just loves them, have about 11,000 and always looking for more.
Should I buy a lot, I would sell the ones I do not have. Any source for
pressbooks would be great.

There's a seller on Ebay who gets his pressbooks from auctions in bulk. One was
a New York Auction, the other he says he now found a huge batch of 1930's in
northern Nebraska, how does one find these lots?

Unfortunately I am disabled and cannot go to many of the trade shows, but are
there any that usually have alot of pressbooks? Maybe I could make it there. I
am new to MOPO and the world of buying pressbooks outside of Ebay, so thanks
for
all your help and wisdom.

I write a column for Blu-ray.com called The Silver Screen and while I don't get
much pay for it, but I love doing it I use these.

Here is a link to my first 2 columns there:

Ten Commandmentshttp://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=6005

Once Upon a Time in the West: http://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=6245

Please keep me in mind should you come across anything pressbook related such
as
lots, ect. Thanks so much (from a pressbook lover, Rob) :-)

Re: [MOPO] A Great Day in the history of world wide justice.

2011-05-02 Thread Richard Evans
The significance is dissimilar to the death of Hitler other than in
the scale of what they had perpetrated.

When Hitler died the Third Reich was on it's last legs, and his death
could justifiably be viewed as sign that the conflict was nearing the
end.

Can't see that here. One of the serpent's heads gone, how many left?

And considering martyrdom is part of the ideology, it's difficult in
this case to see his receiving the maximum penalty ten years on as
particularly effective justice.

Seems almost irrelevant, and on a par with celebrating the death of a
suicide bomber.

9/11 was abhorrent, certainly not sorry he's dead, but the party seem
delusional.

Babies, children, women and innocent men will continue to be killed,
and in the scheme of things it's a very small piece of world wide
justice.

2011-05-02 Thread Steve Haynes
In one of the less earth-shaking announcements of this morning, CINEVENT
announces the availability of advertising in its annual convention program
book.

In addition to increasing the size of the program book from the previous
digest size to closer to standard magazine size, for the first time we are
offering dealers the opportunity to get news of their classic film related
goods and services to the approximately 700 people who attend our event,
held in Columbus, Ohio over Memorial Day Weekend (May 27-30 this year.)

Deadline for camera ready ads is Friday, May 20, 2011 and ads are available
in the following sizes:

FULL PAGE (10" high by 7 1/2" wide): $100
HALF PAGE (5" high by 7 1/2" wide): $55
QUARTER PAGE (5" high by 3 3/4" wide): $30

Ads are preferred as .jpg, .pdf or Microsoft Word files and should be at 300
dpi or "Print Resolution."

If you want to place an ad, prepare your ad in one of the preferred formats
and visit our web site program book ad pages at:

http://www.cinevent.com/CV_PB_Ads.html. Follow the links at the bottom of
the pages to step through the ad submission process on line. You will be
able to pay for the ad using PayPal, or print out your ad submission
information to send payment by mail. Following payment, or printing to
submit by mail, you will be able to upload your ad to the Cinevent web site
(be sure to remember where you saved the ad file on your computer!)

If you have any questions, email me at

[MOPO] Cinevent 43 Dealers Tables

2011-05-02 Thread Steve Haynes
Cinevent 43 is coming, May 27-30 2011 to The Ramada Plaza Hotel and
Conference Center, Columbus, Ohio. Information on the show is available at
 www.cinevent.com.

There are two dealer room areas at the show:

The Grand Ballroom dealers area is adjacent to our Screening Room and
consists of approximately 140 tables (in the Ballroom, Room H across the
foyer and in the foyer itself.) This area is sold out, except for one foyer
table.

The Cinevent Gallery dealers area is on the 6th floor of the hotel and
consists of the three rooms not occupied by The Hollywood Poster Art Auction
(
http://www.hollywoodposterauction.com/). The rooms total approximately 40
tables. This area is sold out except for 6 center tables in the Columbus
Room, the largest of the four rooms.

Ballroom area foyer tables are not secured overnight, so a dealer wishing to
take these tables must remove their merchandise at the close of each day.

The Columbus Room center tables consist of 3 2-table "L" shaped set-ups,
which are prices the same as one of the (sold out) wall tables in that room
($85). The available tables are tables C-D, E-F and G-H, and their position
in the room may be seen at our Gallery Room Maps page (

http://www.cinevent.com/GalleryMap.html).

If you are interested in any of these tables, please contact me at
st...@cinevent.com or leave a message on our
voice mail: (866) 785-7687 and I will return your call as soon as possible.

Hope to see you at Cinevent!

2011-05-02 Thread James Gresham
The similarity is that two evil men were dead on a May 1st. Strange
similarity, but a similarity non the same.

Yes, children & innocents will continue to die. But not by the hands of
Osama bin Laden. That is reason to celebrate. Was the World better off
without Hitler? Is the World better off without Osama? I dont think you
need to be an American to understand the prespective.
