Re: [MOPO] WOW!! 99-cent Lobby Sets! TAXI DRIVER!
Hi from Joe B. I have to admit that I can live without the midis on auction and websites in general.. Particularly late at night when you don't expect something to jump out and wake up the household. Of course, I don't mean to suggest that it shouldn't be done. I just mute the speakers and continue browsing. Great lobby card set auction, by the way, Dave!! Best of luck with it. In my 9 years of selling on Ebay, I think this is my first time I have EVER tried 10 day auctions. No real rhyme or reason to it other than I wanted to get the auctions up and running but more importantly I wanted them to end on a Monday night - which I think personally (and solely a personal opinion) is the best night for auctions to end. I do not have a shred of evidence to back this up but for me, my auctions seem to do better when they end on a Monday night. I( would love to hear others opinions on this if the care to offer. 2. As far as the music goes, I had fun adding the tunes to a lot of the auctions as it brought back alot of fond memories from those particular films. I think the music adds to why true collectors collect movie memorabilia in the first place: it let's us have our own personal piece from that film and it lets us hold on to or revisit probably a happy place or time in our life. I'm sorry if the music is tinny or annoying or repetative and I don't have a great suggestion other than maybe turn the volume down on the computer or your speakers. To stop the music from playing over and over, in the HTML code, you have the word "infinte" that can be removed and then it would only play once. That is a GREAT suggestion and any future auctions, I will eliminate that word. Thanks for the tip - it's a good one. Re: [MOPO] WOW!! 99-cent Lobby Sets! TAXI DRIVER!
JR, I have bgsound on all of my auctions and have done so for over 7 years. The consensus based on many Emails from my bidders/buyers are that they "love it". Many have said they keep going back to the auction just to here the music. Many want to know the name of the "tune". There are midi's out there that are "tinny", but many have a quality sound. That is why there are 100's of midi sites on the net. Possibly, the type of sound system you are using could effect the quality, I, quite, frankly, have had only two negative comments reference the music in seven years, and of course, your dislike, makes three..however, as I have said, many positive Emails. The bottom line, as David possibly shares...I enjoy finding just that right sound for a particular auction. It is time consuming and, perhaps, not worth the effort in terms of return, but.I enjoy music and it's fun! ...I'm sure if someone goes on to one of my auctions and does not want to hear the sound, they simply "turn the knob". Your thoughts were certainly interesting and thought provoking! ..and did motivate me to look at David's auctions (see below).some real nice stuff, and David! I like the sound; haha.Vaughn At 01:11 AM 5/6/2006 -0400, JR wrote: David, Nice selection of card sets at super starting prices... just two questions: Why 10-day auctions?
