[mou-net] Cardinals - St. Louis County
Again with this qualifier that it may be old news to the locals, but these were my first cardinals, singing or not, in Duluth since 2010. The song attracted me over to the thicket, behind the row of crab apple trees, as I was jogging along Park Point between the playground and the last few houses. Another cardinal responded to the first one over nearer the beach. And these are birds that will come check you, the human prowler, out when you go peeking at them (unlike a Connecticut warbler...) *Tanya Beyer - d.b.a. Eurasian Collared-Dove - Winona County - Several Eurasian Collared-Doves were relocated in the town of Lewiston, near the grain elevator. To reach Weaver Dunes SNA, take Highway 84 South from the town of Kellogg to 605th Street (TWP 141), go East on 605th street for about a block and turn left on the small dirt road at the end of 605th street. Follow this to a parking area, about 1/4 mile East of the end of 605th street. The birds were heard and seen from this parking area. [mou-net] Minnesota Lake shorebirds, Faribault County
John Hockema just called to report that he and Andy Nyhus are looking at about 2,000 shorebirds on the mudflats of Minnesota Lake in northern Faribault County. He mentioned at least nine species present (but probably more) highlighted by four American Avocets. They were viewing the lake from the park in town on the northeast side of the lake.
