[mp3encoder] Please add address encryption for mirrored mail list

2003-10-26 Thread Warren Toomey
Lars,
I'm the guy who runs the mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] which
you are mirroring. Would you be able to turn on address encryption, so
that the subscribers to the list can't get their e-mail addresses harvested
from your web site.

Many thanks,
Warren Toomey [EMAIL PROTECTED]

RE: [mp3encoder] SPAM - Admin

2003-10-26 Thread Chizl
I contacted Gmane about the Newsgroup mirroring.. They said you have to
request it, before they will encrypt it.. That's about lame. They don't
care about the user and their email, just what the forum admin thinks??
Very lame indeed so I'm posting his email address in this post so that his
email will become part of that OPEN SEASON for SCRAPPING.

It being my personal email server, I don't care if I block innocent people
or not. That's why I have all of Chinanet blocked. 90% of the spam I was
getting in the past was from their servers. Once I blocked all their
subnets, I hadn't got a spam until this one. Which I found also came from
Chinanet, but a new A Class range of IP's.

[mp3encoder] Seminar paper help...

2003-10-26 Thread Vladimir Mincev
Hello everybody,

Where can I get a documentation for live (realtime) encoding of voice?
I still don't know what to use: mp3, aac , ogg... What you suggest?
Trying to see how many voices can I encode in real time and transport
them using a 33,600 modem, then decode them again. This is part of my
seminar paper from Telecommunication Systems. All documents and
sources regarding this matter are welcome!

Yes, you can block for life a range of IP addresses but problem
remains. You did probably blocked completely innocent people! Why is
that, you may ask? Almost all ISP's use dynamic IP resolving of
addresses, so (let us call those "bastards" by name hackers (in
negative context of that word)) hacker has one IP address one day and
another one next day. You may also say that you blocked a *range*, but
in fact bigger your range is greater amount of people who never did
something wrong is being blocked.

Once I remember that I got warning from some server that I am on their
"black list" and that I can't get any content from that server. That
was first time that I tried to connect there, but you can guess that
someone with same IP was already there before me and did something
stupid, so I got banned from accessing that server!

While working on one ISP I got a conclusion that is best solution for
spamers to be kicked out by administrators of their own network. So
people, as soon you get spamed or abused in any way, don't waste time
to report that to your administrator and/or administrator of network
from which specific IP is spaming you. That way the hacker will be
traced down and some measures will be taken!

Sorry for this off topic letter, just to say that I got spam letters
also, reported to my ISP administrator, and they are gone!

I know the developer of my personal mail server. I had asked last year, and
got, the abiltiy to block IP ranges. Not just bounce email, completly
refuse connection from the mail server. If I put someone's IP range in my
mail server for blocking, they can't even query my server for anything.

Plus I have some serious logs, that let me know exacly what people are doing
at all times. Noone has brute forced nothing on my mail server. If they
tried it wouldn't last long, before they're blocked for life.
