I use MSEide+MSEgui in production since 2006. I have contributed reporting
bugs, translating to spanish, and suggesting ideas. Of course Martin not
always accepted my ideas. He never accepted other programmers to contribute
directly in the project (no commit access). He wanted to manage by himself.
The only help he requested was about documenting with no too much luck.

I hope the project will continue even when it's hard to maintain. I haven't
too much free time due work, family... but I'll be glad to help like I have
been doing till now.

[MSEide-MSEgui-talk] Updated spanish translation

2018-06-15 Thread Julio Jiménez
Hi Martin.

I have seen that a few translations strings were out of order in
mseconsts_es.pas file. I have attached the file with the fix. French
translation is also affected by this issue.

Instead of Yes, No it was: Yes, Yes All...

[MSEide-MSEgui-talk] Xorg error with las changes in MSE

Hi Martin

After updating MSEide+MSEgui every time I close a child window I get this
error (at console) for every closed window except the main one:

X Error: BadWindow (invalid Window parameter) 3

May be this is related to your changes trying to fix Mutter/Muffin issue
with minimized windows

LinuxMint 18.3 Cinnamon (with same Lazarus gtk2 program):

Can minimize, maximize and restore to normal a window EXCEPT if minimized.
If the windows is minimized it doesnt's work.

Sorry, I dropped Cinamon time ago. No Cinnamon to test.

Lazarus GTK2 + Debian 9.4 amd64 Mate Desktop.

Minimize, Maximize and Normal are working fine... I can do it in software.
A note, when the second form is minimized if I restore to normal, it takes
the focus.

I haven't generated any pdf yet, only compiling.. but it's a first step,
the worse is the need to modify a standard fpc package.

No, there aren't paths or config problems. The problem is because MSEgui
units. Martin has forked lots of fpc units in
"lib/common/fpccompatibility". There is a fpimage unit in fpccompatibility
path that's why the checksum error.

I know you have implemented most of fcl-pdf. I was following your work. It
took more time than desired but it's really good. I'm also waiting for
fcl-report to be added to stable/fixes branch, I know it can be used in
fpc 3.0.4/5 too but I fear breaking changed to be used in production. For
now, I'll continue using lazreport for desktop (mse and lazarus) and my own
pdf implementation for web.

Hi Martin

I have attached a updated file. I forgot to translate a string.

BTW I have seen a difference between mseconsts_es.pas and another
mseconsts_* files. Your original mseconsts_es.pas file show:

'Window',  //sc_window

But mseconsts.pas and other languages show:

  'Window activated',//sc_windowactivated

I have updated mseconsts_es.pas to show sc_windowactivated instead of
sc_window.

Thanks.

I remember it took me some time to understand how it worked. It was years

Well, you said it in your first sentence :)

The actual text is:

"2016-09-28
 Frame buttons options fbo_disabled overrides readonly state of widget.
 fbo_disabled in existing widgets must be reset at design time once. "

But as you say this is not totally true. Seems that only components with
frame buttons and a dropdown datasource are affected. Probably this note
will help other users.

Thanks.

Hi Martin.

There is no problem to change it manually, don't worry. Probably it was my
fault not interpreting properly the note in VERSION.TXT, but seems this
change is not affecting every component having a button frame (example,
dbcalendar components... date, datetime...). I'm not sure if a note added

Yes it is. I was confussed because I had added a new component and suffered
the same issue. Probably I added it using copy/paste over an old one... :/

There is no problem resetting it. I saw it added 'frame.button.options =
[fbo_disabled]' to every tdbenumeditlb widget.

[MSEide-MSEgui-talk] Firebird lib is required for compiling MSEide

2016-09-24 Thread Julio Jiménez
Hi Martin.

My last try to compile MSEide failed because lib firebird is required. I
fixed it installing firebird-dev package (under LinuxMint and Ubuntu).

I also have seen that now mseide binary requires libfbclient for dynamic
linking:

  ldd mseide
linux-vdso.so.1 =>  (0x7ffeeffa3000)
libpthread.so.0 => /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libpthread.so.0
(0x7f292be49000)
libX11.so.6 => /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libX11.so.6 (0x7f292bb14000)
libdl.so.2 => /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libdl.so.2 (0x7f292b90f000)
libm.so.6 => /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libm.so.6 (0x7f292b609000)
libfbclient.so.2 => /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libfbclient.so.2
(0x7f292b32)
libc.so.6 => /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6 (0x7f292af5a000)
/lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 (0x561924897000)
libxcb.so.1 => /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libxcb.so.1 (0x7f292ad3b000)
libXau.so.6 => /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libXau.so.6 (0x7f292ab36000)
libXdmcp.so.6 => /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libXdmcp.so.6
(0x7f292a93)

This wasn't required in older versions. I wonder if this is as intended. I
also wonder if this is correct. Now you are enforced to have installed
Firebird even if you don't use it (In my case I use it) for
compilingMSEide. Probably this is due your latest changes for Firebird 3.0
support.

BTW, do you have plans to use Freepascal FCL-PDF for MSEide reports instead
of postscript output?

Regards.

Hi Martin.

Inside .mfm file I see it uses old decimal format (not using four digits):
 caption = 'Gesti'#243'n de clientes' instead of caption = 'Gesti'#0243'n
de clientes'

Is this correct? In execution mode I see all characters are ok.

2016-06-18 Thread Julio Jiménez
I see... thanks.

I also have noticed that now, convert to pascal string does the job
converting to hexadecimal instead of decimal.

example: 'Sí' -> old way 'S'#0237 new way 'S'#$00ED

In unit mseconsts_es you have included directive: {$codepage utf8} this
means you can type utf8 chars instead of pascalstring. What's the prefered
way,  pascal string or utf8?

Thanks

using tfbservice.cancel also hangs the program.. (stop responding, no
windows refresh...it shows the wallpaper inside the window..

I forgot to say the last BT was using tfbservice.cancel().

Using tfbservice.connected:= false

In your actual comment you forgot to put my name ;-)

Probably is better to say: // Bytes. Empty array for last file

What about closing attached service? ( tfbservice1.connected:= false)
Is not required?

Canceling the service closing it seems not having effect. I tried it while
restoring. Press a 'cancel' button. This execute 'tfbservice1.connected:=
false' but the service continues running in the server and the service ends
ok (restore is ok). The program hangs... may be is needed extra work for
cancelling a running service?

BTW, backup and restore are working fine.

Thanks.

I see.

This will be good.

BTW, the service is cancelled client side (in the program) but server
continues executing it. In fact database is restored ok. So seems something
is not working as expected (or running service can't be stopped once you
run it).

Does nback work for you?

nback does the copy but once it finishes fires an exception:

#0  08058B92 :0 fpc_unicodestr_decr_ref()

nbackup command doesn't return log info. may be because it's very cpu
intensive... dunno

BTW, I don't like nbackup... is not binary compatible with other versions
and have issues.

Don't worry. I'll try to investigate it.

Using gbak command and then ctrl-break stops the backup/restore service in
the server. I think there must be a way to stop it using API too. Probably
we must ask/search at firebirdsql forums.

Thanks.

OMG my fault. I'm mixing messages...

All is ok. One message window is from onasyncendmain event.. and the other
is in the button execute event...

Sorry.

Working but... a little issue.

Event if fired twice so it shows Aborted dialog and then it shows Finished
dialog (the two windows). And of course.. the service continues executing
in the server as I commented in my last message.

About Nbackup pros and cons:
http://www.firebirdsql.org/manual/nbackup-overview.html

I don't use nbackup because some of the limitations. My experience in the
past (years ago... with first versions of Firebird) was not very good.
Corrupted backups and more...

In server side I use gbak. Is not so fast but have lots of options and
advantages too.

Having firebird services in MSE is great. Delphi and Lazarus had it time
ago.

Cheers

2015-12-21 Thread Julio Jiménez
Hi Martin.

May be you are in the middle of a change. I get errors compiling mse with
FPC 3.0.1

Writing Resource String Table file: ibase60dyn.rsj
Compiling ./lib/common/db/msefbservice.pas
msefbservice.pas(747,75) Error: Incompatible types: got "ShortInt" expected
"pisc_resv_handle"
msefbservice.pas(1281) Fatal: There were 1 errors compiling module, stopping
Fatal: Compilation aborted

I see you are implementing firebird services :)

Not exactly ;)

if you read (at the image showing light and dark theme):

"The same 16 colors are used in both color schemes, with only four color
swaps needed to completely switch between light and dark modes..."

In this case:

diff pascal_solarized_dark.sdef pascal_solarized.sdef
5c5

But it is really easy to change from dark to light. Of course, these
themes can be changed/adapted to user preferences :D

In the ApiGuide that I pointed out in my last message, all is described.

[MSEide-MSEgui-talk] Problem with query

2015-10-24 Thread Julio Jiménez
Hi. I'm having problems with sentences containing non ascii chars.

This sentence works:
select * from ATABLE c where c.NAME containing 'Ñ';

This sentence also works:
select * from ATABLE c where c.NAME like '%Ñ';

This sentence fails with error: connection: Fetch - Malformed string:
select * from ATABLE c where c.NAME like 'Ñ%';

The sentence works with flamerobin, ibx4lazarus.. but not with MSE (checked
with a tmsesqlquery).

Thanks.

I mean liug2 is trying to compile using fpc 3.1.1 and it isn't (or wasn't
supported) I don't remember the fail but it was new strings type related
IIRC

I haven't 3.1.1 to test right now...

Martin, can you check export MSEDIR=a path...

It halts with

I forgot to say, my FPC are installed in my home directory. Actually I have
fpc stable, 3.0 and trunk.. because different config dirs and paths, I have
no problem in using both even at the same time. MSEide doesn't allow me to
do it actually because it shares the same config dir.. (and the
same${MSEDIR}).

 and one of them is mseide-msegui path.. I don't want to merge compiled
 units or having to build every time I change from fpc stable to fpc 3.0

 Actually I have two mseide-msegui installations, one for fpc stable and

 The joys of open source software. If Martin deems it unnecessary, it
 will literally take you 5 minutes to apply a fix on your side - I had a
 look at the code, it is easy.

 On a side note:
   Do what I do. I already have quite few of my own customizations I
 apply to MSEide and Lazarus IDE ever time I get an update. Git makes
 this process simple and painless. So I have best of both worlds. ;-)

   git checkout master
   git branch -D graemeg // throw-away branch where I do merging
   git pull
   git checkout -b graemeg
   git merge custom-mods
   (build mseide here)

After reading README.TXT:

MSEide environment variables

Macros in 'Settings'-'Configure MSEide' can be overridden by environment
variables. They will be overriden by --macrodef and
'Project'-'Options'-'Macros'.
Possible names:
FPCDIR, FPCLIBDIR, MSEDIR, MSELIBDIR, SYNTAXDEFDIR, TEMPLATEDIR,
COMPSTOREDIR, COMPILER, DEBUGGER, EXEEXT, TARGET, TARGETOSDIR.

I also could use in my launch script:

export MSEDIR='the desired path...'

But it fires EAccessViolation when the stored path is different than MSEDIR
path.. weird... may be a bug.

 I believe MSEDIR is the root directory to where you would find the
 MSEide+MSEgui source code, not the user's config settings directory.

And MSEDIR is the base for the other config paths:

${MSEDIR}lib/common/
${MSEDIR}apps/ide/syntaxdefs/

${MSEDIR}apps/ide/compstore/

Martin, I run both, fpc stable in production and fpc fixes_3.0 in testing.
Is there a way to specify a different config dir for running MSEide?

It uses always the same dir .mseide. Lazarus use --primary-config-path
parameter.
