[mssms] Managing Azure servers in SCCM2012

2014-12-16 Thread Hilvano, Criselda
Hello

Does anyone know how to manage azure servers in sccm2012? We have site to site
vpn setup which allows communication between premise. Is there anything else we
need to set/configure in SCCM?

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2889321

Thanks!

Re: [mssms] OT: Using 1E Nomad during OSD Task Sequences

2014-12-16 Thread Mike Dougherty
for the record,

two 1E employees did respond to my inquiry and were very helpful. (once
again, thanks to you both... you know who you are.)

two other members of the list responded as well to offer assistance, and I
appreciate their offers of help as well. I'll send them a condensed version
of the thread tomorrow when i get a chance to.

[mssms] I'd like to P2V my primary site server for SCCM 2007, what do I need to know before I do it?

2014-12-16 Thread Atkinson, Matt
A recent near miss on a disaster with our SCCM 2007 environment has brought
about a desire to migrate the primary site server off of physical hardware to a
virtual machine. The actual migration process is straightforward but from
SCCM's perspective is there anything I need to do in order to ensure success?

[mssms] remote control on win 8.1

2014-12-16 Thread Robert Schlichting
General question on using remote control against win8.1 clients.. I’m having
issues when using the remote control function on certain laptops that have
win8.1 installed.. basically, I lose control if I go anywhere not explicitly
in the desktop..

Anyone have a way to make things work better, or is this potentially a known
issue?

Example.. even right-clicking on the windows button, so I could attempt to
open the control panel just results in the machine not responding for long
periods of time

[mssms] Detailed Compliance Baseline Reporting

2014-12-16 Thread Paul Mallett
I know we have “Details of compliant rules of configuration items in a
configuration baseline for an asset”, “Details of non-compliant rules of
configuration items in a configuration baseline for an asset”, etc. But
I’m trying to create a report that just gives all compliance details for a
specific asset, compliant, non-compliant, errors, etc. Although I’d settle
for just the first two. Ideally in one big report, all configuration items
rather than broken down into categories to link on. It’s all for auditing
purposes and it would be easier for the auditors to search for specific
settings that way.

Has anyone done anything like this? I looked at the canned reports but
frankly they’re beyond me.

[mssms] [MSSMS] Best practices for managing VMs in the cloud

2014-12-16 Thread Stephen Owen
Hi guys,

I'm doing some research to understand what my options are when it comes
to managing some machines in both Azure and AWS. My first thought is to
treat each web service as a separate physical office site, demarking
boundaries and putting a Distribution Point (or maybe a secondary, based on
the bandwidth costs) up in each to handle content distribution. The VMs
within these services are routable, as in I can ping them and they can ping
back to the core datacenter where I plan to put the primary.

Have you guys done something like this before? How did it work out? How
would you recommend I approach managing less than 50 Azure + AWS VMs? I'm
trying to keep this infrastructure as simple as is possible, and currently
only has one Primary site. One point of concern is that if I put a
Secondary out in Azure, I'm not sure if running SQL Express is supported.

Anyway, I've been out of the SCCM Saddle for a few months and don't want
to make a dumb mistake.

Thanks!

I think we should have a 1E/SCCM specific list. I’d subscribe to that.

Can someone from 1E ping me offline about some general (and hopefully brief)
questions I have about using Nomad in conjunction OSD task sequences in CM2012?

I don't want to a create a very vendor-specific thread on the main list.

Thanks.

Re: [mssms] Powershell to create CI?

2014-12-16 Thread Ryan
So I have the code to create a new script setting on a CI working, but now
I can't add a CI to a baseline with a script. I can code it, but I wanted
to first see if anyone got this code working:

Set-CMBaseline -Name "BASELINE NAME" -AddRequiredConfigurationItems "CI_ID"

I get the error:

I can probably do the same thing I did before with this stuff (manually
edit the SDMPackageXML code) but don't want to reinvent the wheel.

Correct. The tab disappears, but the Rate Limits column still shows YES for
both pull and non-pull DPs.

Yup the rate limit tab, disappears for PullDPs:

So maybe its an indication as to whether the dp supports rate limits?

If you need to know which DPs have rate limits enabled, I have a powershell
script I can dig up.

Re: [mssms] DP Rate Limit column

2014-12-16 Thread Sean Pomeroy
As you suggest, the column incorrectly reports if Rate Limits are enabled
or not. It has been like this since 2012 RTM. It must be a bug.

Here is some quick PowerShell to determine if a DP has Rate Limits enabled
for those that may be interested:
$SiteCode = "Your Primarys Site Code"
$SiteServer = "FQDN of your Primary"
GWMI -Namespace "root\sms\site_$SiteCode" -ComputerName $SiteServer -Query
"select * from SMS_SCI_address" | Select
@{N="DistributionPoint";E={$($_.ItemName).Replace("|MS_LAN","")}},
UnlimitedRateforAll | Sort -Property DistributionPoint

False means Rate Limiting is enabled.

RE: [mssms] DP Rate Limit column

2014-12-16 Thread s kissel
Regardless of whether or not the DP is a pull DP, the rate limit column will
still be equal to YES.
The script might be useful, but it doesn't explain the inherent, default
behavior of SCCM at this point yet. I imagine the script would be in conflict
with what the GUI actually indicates.
I've confirmed this in SP1 as well as R2 CU3.
