lbdb-fetchaddr
Hello, I've been trying to get lbdb-fetchaddr working with the m_inmail module for a while but still my ~/.lbdb/m_inmail file is empty. I have :0hc | lbdb-fetchaddr in my .procmailrc file (does it matter where it is in the file?) and lbdlq _is_ working with my mutt aliases. However, I would like to achieve what the man pages describes as: This will pipe a copy of every mail message you receive through a small C program lbdb-fetchaddr(1) which grabs that message's From: header. any ideas where I am going wrong? thank you joss -- http://www.josswinn.org
fetching mail in mutt and sendmail
Hello, I would like to disable the sendmail daemon yet still be able to fetch mail using fetchmail, calling sendmail to deliver the mail only when fetchmail needs it. Currently, if the sendmail daemon is disabled, I can send mail, but when trying to fetch i with fetchmail, it fails because sendmail is not running in the background. Is there anyway i can use sendmail without it running constantly on port 25? I do not run any external services and am the only user. Alternatively, can I make the pop3 function in mutt work with procmail? Thank you very much Joss -- http://www.josswinn.org

how to only save certain sent mail
Hello, You may have received several old messages from me in the last 24hrs for which I apologise. Yesterday, I opened up KMail for the first time, it found my mutt 'outbox' (sent mail - I realise now it was poorly labeled) and assumed that the last four months of mail in that file had not yet been sent. KMail queues mail in a file called, you've guessed it, 'outbox'. After setting up a test message to myself, I presssed the send button and saw over 400 old messages fly by without any warning that it had picked up the mail in that file. Anyway, I have renamed my mutt sent mail file now and it has got me wondering how I can just save certain mail with a key command prior to sending, while not saving all other sent mail by default. Basically, I want to slimline my sent mail file to contain only mail I have decided I'd like to keep a copy of. Is this possible in mutt? Thanks and sorry again for the inconvenience. Joss (Long Live Mutt! Out with KMail!) please CC me if you have any ideas.

Interesting. What version of Mutt are you using? If I'm doing Japanese, I use a bodged version of Kikutani-sans patches (which IIRC don't apply cleanly any more even to the source distribution they're supposed to, and don't appear to be being maintained). If you're just using bog-standard mutt, I'm encouraged that it has come some way to supporting Japanese by itself. Neil. Well, Neil, I have good news for you! First, I am using the default version of Mutt that comes with SUSE 7.1 PPC (which has very good Japanese support in it for the first time). It is version 1.3.12i-0. I do not think it was patched for Japanese as the SUSE developer working on Japanese support has not had anything to do with Mutt. I have fixed my original problem without the use of any patches. I was about to build a patched version with Kikutani-sans patches but first took a look a /mutt-1.3.17i-ja0/mutt-ja.rc In it, there are muttrc settings specific to Japanese, so I thought I would throw them into my muttrc and see what happens. (I am a newbie and anyone with a brain might have figured this out already). There were about four errors, which I went back and commented out and then with the remaining alterations, I had working Japanese. Perfect if not for the occasional screen redraw that I have to do (occasional, not always). Any way to over come this? The lines that worked for me are: setcharset="euc-jp" setsendcharset="us-ascii:iso-2022-jp" setrfc2047_parameters=yes I've no idea what the last one does or if it really is that important. Something to do with attachments? So, to summarise, I am running an English language environment, calling applications for Japanese with LANG=ja_JP app. I am using the above version of Mutt in a kterm with canna and kinput2. My Mutt folder menu has a 月 where the month column is, and all Japenese sent to me has clearly visible subject lines and body text. I use the alpha version of vim without any problems to compose messages. Bliss! (and largely due to one very keen and thorough developer at SUSE who has been setting up their CJK support). gpg
Hello, I have tried several times now to get gpg working with Mutt and have read all the documentation I can find. Non of it has worked for me. I know my key is good and working. I have all my gpg items in .gnupg in my home folder. I have tried editing my muttrc to recognise this folder but it just produces errors each time. Could someone using gpg with Mutt possibly tell me what I need in my muttrc for it to work. When I try to encrypt a message now, it asks for the keyID and I enter what I think is the ID and it just hangs. I've no idea what to do next. The documentaiton i have been able to find is sparse and looks outdated. Any help would be much appreciated. My Key can be found at the URL below if it helps. newbie configuration questions....
Hello, I've taken a look at the manual and can't find anything specifically relating to my questions but I apologise if I'm missing something. I'm using Mutt after a battle with sendmail and am really very happy with it. Thanks! I would like to configure it to do a few things though and I'm not sure if it is possible or not... 1. Is there any way of flushing deleted mail without having to quit Mutt or change to a different folder/mailbox? I'd like deleted mail out of my sight at the press of a button. 2. Currently, I open Mutt and it defaults to /spool/joss. Is there any way to have it default to my mbox when I open Mutt and when new mail arrives, have that mail automatically moved from the spool to mbox where I can read/delete, etc. Basically, I want to reduce the amount of shifting between mail boxes and work mainly in mbox (I have one mail box where all kept mail resides). If you find fault in wanting to do the above, I'd also be interested to hear from you! thanks very much joss please cc me at my own address as I'm on the digest and have yet to recieve one (perhaps there has been no list mail for the last couple of days?)
