[MLO] Re: MLO handling of linking to TheBrain

2023-09-29 Thread zel...@gmail.com
I have worked it out in Win 10.

*Make a link to MLO from TheBrain*

This makes a link from the content area of a thought in TheBrain to a task
in the main pane in MLO.

In MLO:

   1. Right click on the task
   2. “Copy as > Copy as URL” in the context menu

In TheBrain:

   1. Click the “Attach” button
   2. Click “Link to URL”
   3. Paste into the box that appears
   4. The link appears under the thought title in the note. It can be
   renamed through its context menu.

*Make a link to TheBrain from MLO*

To make a link to a thought in TheBrain from a markdown note in Task
Preview mode in MLO:

In TheBrain, right click on the thought and choose "Copy Local Thought URL"
from the context menu.

In MLO, in the Task Properties pane (in Task Edit mode), type in the notes
panel.

Use square brackets and parentheses to create the link:

[label](Local Thought URL)

label: Text that shows in Task Preview mode in the Task Properties pane.

Local Thought URL: Link address to the thought in TheBrain.

The steps to achieve this are left to the student.

You should be able to build a view in the desktop app using the Advanced
setup filtering and Sort in Group and sort.

[MLO] Re: Bug: Window 10 latest release (actually a long-standing bug)

2023-07-24 Thread zel...@gmail.com
I am having this bug. It cannot be bypassed by using the calendar function
in the timing and reminder section. Using the calendar in the start date or
due date column in the main view gives the correct input. Using the
recurrence window in the timing and reminder section to set the dates, then
removing the recurrence also works.
Not optimal.

Re: [MLO] Re: A GTD marketing suggestion

2023-04-30 Thread zel...@gmail.com
This is what I am thinking of sending. Too strong?

---

It would be great to see a Setup Guide for My Life Organized (MLO) on the
Suggested Products page. https://store.gettingthingsdone.com/

MLO is a Swiss army knife (actually it's built in Ukraine) on Windows,
Android and iOS. It works out of the box, but you can make it your own. MLO
has been around longer than the others you mention, and it shows.

It can give you a task list weighted for any or all of the:

· start & due date & time

· importance & urgency

· context location & time

David Allen mentions often the need for flexibility in a system. What I
have mentioned above is just the start: goals, projects, recurrences, lead
times, dependencies, effort needed, tag by text, flag, star - this still
does not tell all that is in MLO.

It can show customized views within the app. On Windows, there is a new
dashboard function that can show those views side-by-side.

I have rejected all of the apps in your present guides for their:

· inability to parse my information

· requirement of an internet connection to function between desktop
and mobile

· SUBSCRIPTION ? !

With MLO, you have a choice.

GTD on MLO.

[MLO] MLO handling of linking to TheBrain

2022-07-26 Thread zel...@gmail.com
I am trying to marry MLO with TheBrain. Both generate links to tasks and
thoughts respectively.

I am able to generate a link to a task
(mlo://G:\MLO\mytasks.ml?{009CC443-9681-4A1E-973A-0538C29E6C2C}) in MLO and
use it in TheBrain.

However, MLO Task Notes does not execute a link generated by TheBrain
(brain://api.thebrain.com/mNjJ/LinkMLOToAThoughtInTheBrain).

Any ideas?

Is there a way to apply the importance and urgency scores so that the

[MLO] Re: Unbelievable if not available! - Quick Filters: by Importance, Due Today

2021-07-17 Thread zel...@gmail.com
What about:
creating a new workspace tab
setting up the filters you want
right click on workspace tab
"Set as default for this tab"
right click on workspace tab
"Lock default in this tab "
right click on workspace tab
"Pin this tab"
Right clicking on the workspace tab will let you assign an icon, hotkey,
and rename (by choosing "Set up workspace...")

Since pinning a workspace move it to the left, I have a set of buttons
showing me customized views right above the view window.

This is a powerful blank slate program that requires getting your hands
dirty. The filters require some fiddling. Turn the advanced filters on, and
you can see *exactly* what you want.
