Hi,

I successfully used gcc 2.95.3 and libc.so.6 to compile MySQL 4.0.1.
There are some good reasons for not using the binary e.g. when you compile
on a SuSE box with its proprietary file tree.

But the question remains: what is the penalty for sticking with an old
compiler? Will future releases remain compilable with 2.95.3?

If you are going to install MySQL binary distribution it doesn't
metter what gcc do you have.

jrp Thanks and best regards,

gcc for newer mysql versions - what's needed exactly ?

Hi all:
