Re: [mythtv-users] .18 MythWeb weather.php still broken
I thought this was fixed in .18, but it seems that the MythWeb weather.php page still tries to get the weather map from w3.weather.com. To fix this, look at lines 209 and 214 in weather.php and change them to www.weather.com Works fine for me, always has. Any reason why www is better/worse than w3? [mythtv-users] 0.18 on Mandrake 10.1---Success.
0.18 (release) and all add-on themes/plugins built on Mandrake 10.1, and everything checked (so far) works very well. Will work down the list of things folks have said do not work, and report back. SO far: mythmusic, mythvideo, livetv, playback of recording, recording itself, and mythweather work fine AFACT. I cannot check mythphone. 0.18 also fixed the silly time shift bug that has been pissing me off since the DST time change. (Actually a bug in QT3.3.4 IIRC) I'm sure THAC will have packages soon, but if you're in the mood, all the deps are an easy "urpmi -a" and looking at the results away at most. ___ mythtv-users mailing list mythtv-users@mythtv.org http://mythtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-users

[mythtv-users] aspect ratio troubles
G'day all When I watch live tv, with aspect ratio set to Off, it looks exactly the same as if it's set to 16:9. I automatically transcode all my recordings. When watching a recording that was recorded/transcoded with 0.15/.16, I always have to switch to 16:9 when starting to watch a recording, as it starts off looking the same as 4:3 (with aspect ratio set to Off). With 0.17/0.18 recordings however, they look fine - I don't have to change ar - having it set to None is the same as 16:9. Now here's my problem. I want to use nuvexport to export some of these nuvs as I'm running out of disk space. Whatever I try to do however, the resulting xvid has 4:3 ratio. nuvinfo tells me all my nuvs have aspect 1.333 (4:3). So what's going on here? Is myth incorrectly recording the aspect ratio in the nuvs? I would really like to be able to convert some of these nuvs to xvid as I'm quickly running out of disk space. I'm using dvb, original stream is mpeg2, I'm transcoding to mpeg4. Cheers, Philip ___ mythtv-users mailing list mythtv-users@mythtv.org http://mythtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-users

Last I heard, the overscan on the Unichrome video chipset can't be finetuned (although this may have changed recently, I haven't used my M1 in maybe four or five months). I've been having a problem since I installed .17, and it continues with .18; hopefully someone can help me out. Whenever I use either the fast forward/rewind functions, it will work normally for about 10 seconds then the screen will freeze. If I hit play, it will resume playing normally from that spot. However, if I hit FFW/REW again, it will continue moving in whichever respective direction for another 10 seconds or so before freezing again. I was wondering if anyone has seen this behavior, and if so, if they were able to find a fix for it. Re: [mythtv-users] Removing Unwanted Channels
I don't know if it's correct but this is how I get rid of channels I don't want: mysql> delete from channel where callsign='MTV'; That line will get rid of your MTV channel (assuming you want to get rid of MTV). Anyone care to agree or disagree? I hope it's the right way cause I've been using it and it seems to work but I'm afraid I'm leaving open hooks in my sql database. -Greg On 4/24/05, Larry K <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > When I first set up my zap2It channel list, I put in several channels that I > have since removed. [mythtv-users] LIRC not auto-starting in FC2
Hi, I upgraded my FC2-based mythbox to kernel 2.6.10-1.770 and along with it came a bunch of newer version of stuff (and new problems...). The last issue to resolve since fixing my nvidia and eth0 issues is lircd. When I reboot, the remote no longer works in MythTV. If I exit mythtv and do the following: depmod -a modprobe lirc_i2c service lircd stop service lircd start mythfrontend The remote starts working. What has changed in the newer kernel/drivers to stop lirc from auto-starting? I recall something like this in a thread before and can't find anything FC2 related. There's some lirc/ivtv related patch for FC3 but that does not apply to me. I am on the latest .18 apt releases of myth. [mythtv-users] New Mythtv Xbox site - www.mythtv-xbox.org
Hello everyone, I'd like to introduce a new site targeted towards mthytv xbox users. I personally began the journey of running myth on an xbox soon after the bit.blkbk.com site when down and wished that resource was available to me as I embarked on the process. As you will surely notice, the site is very bare (an understatement, for sure) - we are asking the mythtv xbox community to offer their suggestions, advice, critisisms etc on the site's organization, forums, layout, etc..in order to make it a resource worth visiting. Feel free to comment on what forums would be relevant and worthwhile - your suggestions will be acted upon and implemented very quickly. The goal is to make this site a true community effort from design to implementation and to create a resource where mythtv xbox questions have a home. Thank you in advance for your input - we look forward to a great resource! [mythtv-users] Enter/Space not selecting buttons?
I'm running 0.18 on FC3, fully updated from ATrpms and several other repositories via apt-get. I had this same behavior since 0.17 and can't figure out what to do about it. Enter/Space will not select certain buttons for some reason. For example, in the setup screens, the Next, Back, and Finish buttons don't work with Enter/Space. Nor the confirmation prompts at the beginning of mythtvsetup and when exiting mythfrontend. Selecting the button with the arrow keys and pressing Enter/Space will visually "depress" the button but won't actually activate it. If an accelerator key is assigned to the button (like with Next/Back/Finish) then the accelerator key will work, but the Yes/No confirmation prompts don't have accelerator keys and thus I can't do anything with them -- all I can do is hit Esc which answers No, meaning I can't exit mythfrontend. I have to kill it manually. But some other buttons, such as the menu within MythMusic, DO work with Enter/Space. Any ideas? ___ mythtv-users mailing list mythtv-users@mythtv.org http://mythtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-users

Darn, I compiled without "-–enable-opengl-vsync". Can I gain a lot of cpu by recompiling? [mythtv-users] Alsa settings
Hi, I have a soundblaster live 5.1 in my Mythbox and have just upgraded to the latest alsa (on FC2). I have noticed an improvement in quality of the stereo recordings played through my DPL-II receiver. I am curious to know, in alsamixer which sliders do you have "up" and at what value. Here are my settings: Master: 87 Bass: 50 Treble: 50 PCM: 100 (With a green 00 under it) Wave: 96 Wave Capture:8 Music Capture: 8 Line: 100 Capture: 100 AC97 Capture: 2 Everything else is Muted and/or 0 Also, I can recall more than once that sometimes some EMU sliders show up, but seemingly not always. Messing with their settings does strange stuff like make the audio only come out of one speaker (not because of different left right settings). I have never quite got what the ideal settings should be so any light that can be shed would be helpful. Re: [mythtv-users] Help diagnosing hardlocks / kernel oops.
I would recommend that you try to compile MythTV with debigging enabled (if possible), as it will give more information. The reason that mythbackend blew up is because of a trashed pointer (trying to read data at address 0x41474147), thus, a pointer had the characters "AGAG" written where they shouldn't be. Could be a buffer overrun in the code that caused the pointer to get trashed. Other than that, I couldn't say. -- Joe --- John Freer <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Hi all, > > Do these logs mean anything to anyone? You probably see a lot of 'bad stream' errors as well huh ? http://watmough.blogspot.com/2005/03/bug-fix-for-atsc-channel-changing-on.html That's my fix for it. It fixes switching between channels with the same pids, just by removing the reset feature when the channels get switched. Hacky but effective. One of these days I'll actually try and work out how to really fix it. [mythtv-users] SPDIF sound on Intel D865GBF board
I just upgraded to an Intel D865GBF board, using an AD1985 chipset, and would like to get SPDIF output working on it. Has anyone tried this? Google searches show commits to ALSA to support it, but little else. There are old references to people who obviously had it sort of working (one guy mentioned soldering!). Try as I might, I can't get a digital signal from the left channel of the green jack (according to the Intel PDF) to be recognized by my reciever. I've tried using alsamixer and KMix, and IEC958 is on. I have no clue what the others do, but I think I have hit most of the probably combinations. [mythtv-users] Removing Unwanted Channels
When I first set up my zap2It channel list, I put in several channels that I have since removed. Problem is, these unwanted channels are still populated in my mythtv database, so they clutter up the EPG and the mythweb listings. Is there an elegant way of purging these unwanted channels? I assume the channels could be deleted form the mysql database, but I thought I'd ask if there is a better way before I go messing with the database. Using the following query, I think I have identified the rows I want to delete. Not sure if there are any referential constraints to complicate the delete of rows from channel. Thoughts? mysql> select chanid, callsign from channel; ++--+ | chanid | callsign | ++--+ | 1004 | WRC | | 1005 | WTTG | | 1006 | WPXW | | 1068 | MTV | | 1069 | VH1 | ++--+ 45 rows in set (0.00 sec) ___ mythtv-users mailing list mythtv-users@mythtv.org http://mythtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-users

If none of the (speedX10 == blah) checks match, then nothing is checked, so that would accomplish what your describing if I switched to speedX100. Unless you or someone has a better way to be checking the normal_speed value without having to have something like: (normal_speed > 0.49 && normal_speed < 0.51) I thought that those would be too complicated and that's why I did the speedX10 to begin with. Re: [mythtv-users] Anyone successful yet with an HD-3000 and QAM?
I have both working with no problems, finally. I've got a FC3 setup via Jarod's guide, which includes the PVR-250; using HD3000 2.0 drivers, unmodified. Had to manually add the QAM HD channels to the database, as mythtvsetup had problems when scanning the qam channels, but they do work after the manual editing of the db. I guess my cable provider isn't quite up to speed with the hd qam channels (providing all the required atsc feed info), which is why mythtvsetup doesn't detect things perfectly. Others don't have this issue. YMMV. [mythtv-users] Myth as Receiver
There are several posts on this board that are relevant to this topic, but never land upon it specifically. This is not a solicitation to have the answer handed to me, but if anyone has already done this, or been thwarted trying then I would appreciate hearing what ever you have to say on the matter. Likewise, any links or posts on the matter would be appreciated. I have a Myth box with a PVR-250 and am soon adding a PVR-500. The motherboard is an A7N8X-E Deluxe (integrated APU; support 5.1). I would like to set things up so that my Myth box can take the place of my crappy Technics receiver. Specifically, I wish to attach my DVD, VCR, Tape Deck, Vid Cam and so forth to the various composite connectors on the cards. Both PVR cards can get additional input thru AV attachments to their AV headers making for a possibility of four AV connections. I need to be able to step through the various cards and inputs from my remote. Preferably with one button. It would be really nice to be able to select a specific tuner/input combination with a single button, but I am not greedy. Well, at least not rapacious. I think I know how to do this, but it may take some coding. There would need to be a way to turn off the buffering for Live TV. I remember reading up on this about a month ago, but need to find the postings again. Preferably I would keep the buffering for regular coax TV, and ditch it for everything else. Finally, I would need to find a decent set of 5.1 computer speakers with longish (room-length) speaker wires. Alternatively, wireless speaker options. jw__Do You Yahoo!?Tired of spam? Yahoo! That will probably work for the menu-defined speeds which are all multiples of 0.10. I've looked at other themes too, which have different colors, but I cannot find where these colors are set. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Don PS. Realized multiple ATI Remote Wonder remotes would be Very hard to manage. I find this interesting, and hope you will explain your design decisions . Here's the solution I've decided to go forward with: 1. Place a small, silent laptop (DELL I-7500 running Fedora 2,3,4) on a table between easy chairs. This sounds like your table and chairs are placed to view multiple TVs or video displays. How many TVs are your using? 2. Add VNC to the xorg.conf file on each Frontend, as shown here http://www.realvnc.com/products/free/4.1/x0.html 3. Use vncviewer on the laptop to operate each Frontend. I've tried this already, and it works really well. I use this method extensively for remote administration in my work, but haven't applied it to controlling Myth frontends. The MythTV boxes, and their noise, will be in an adjoining room, cables running along the floor and back wall into a Marantz SR-18EX. Each Frontend will connect to one of the Marantz' multiple VCR, LaserDisk, DVD, or AUX ports. My backend is in another room, but I currently have only a single TV and so only a single frontend. The result should be that only one remote, the laptop, will be needed to control all the Frontends. And several VCR's can be retired. My main curiosity is your multiple frontends. I assume you have 1 frontend per display device (TV). How do you handle selecting audio? If you don't have 2 or more TVs, why do you have more than 1 frontend? For watching Live TV, I bypass MythTV entirely and watch the TV set directly. With enough MythTV capacity, watching Live TV will be the exception. Watching MythTV will be the rule. I very rarely watch live TV. I think my main confusion here is that I'm not sure how many TVs you have. Your solution is aimed at having only 1 remote control, and so uses VNC to control multiple frontends. Somehow I get the impression you might be viewing all the frontends on a single TV, but that doesn't make sense to me since you only need one frontend per TV. Are you really being redundant with frontends, and if so, why? ___ mythtv-users mailing list mythtv-users@mythtv.org http://mythtv.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/mythtv-users

[mythtv-users] DVB newbie: 1st MythTV-0.18 impression
Dear MythTV users, I use Ubuntu Linux 4.1 Warty Warthog and a Twinhan VisionDTV Ter card. After a quite difficult installaion I have MythTV running. Compiling MythTV took a lot of time but it took me more time to find out that libqt3-mysql was missing to set up the database. I've thought I would get an error message from ./configure. I have chosen my DVB card and the german TVtoday video source. Then I have answered the questions on the console. After that I have had several channels but none of them worked. I have found out that I can do a scan manually. Initially it didn't work to enter only the frequency. Choosing the right bandwidth and switching the inversion off helped. Well, afterwards I've had every channel twice. I needed several retries to find out the best solution I know until now: enter mythtv-setup choose the dvb card select the right program guide add all channels in xterm write down all xmltv IDs quit restart mythtv-setup delete the channels select the program guide don't add any channel in xterm manually enter all frequencies edit channels and enter icon path and xmltv ID uncomment all found channels in ~/.mythtv/sourcename.xmltv mythfilldatabse --update This works for me. Switching channels is quite slow compared to xine-dvb-plugin. I have reduced the buffer to the minimum but it hasn't got faster That TVtoday program guide is quite good but recording is just based on its times. Sometimes the end is missing. Is it right that every channel has it's own epg/mhp via DVB-T? Maybe future versions of MythTV (it isn't version 1.0 yet) can use either this or the other one for each channel. Removing commercials works quite well but some bad companies place their logo in one of the upper corners. I'm missing videotext and I have a problem with NDR regional channels. This is information from another German region but for me it's almost the same: ProgrammnameService IDVideo PIDAudio PIDPCR PIDVideotext PIDPMT/Daten PIDs NDR Fernsehen Niedersachsen1294625 4626462546284624 MDR Fernsehen 1004657 4658465746604656 WDR Köln262 4641 464246414644 4640 hr-fernsehen65 4673 4674 46734676 4672 NDR FS Hamburg130 4625 / 4673 4626 / 4674 4625 / 4673 46284880 NDR FS Schleswig Holstein 1314625 / 4641 4626 / 4642 4625 / 4641 46285136 NDR FS Mecklenburg Vorpommern 132 4625 / 46574626 / 4658 4625 / 465746285392 I can use the xmltv ID "ndr.de" only once. For the other NDRs the program is unknown. When I switch from one NDR channel to another I have no sound and a bad picture quality. Then I have to switch to another channel that doesn't use the same Audio/Video PIDs and then switch back. So when there's no regional program I mustn't switch from NDR FS SH to NDR FS NDS/HH/MVP or when there's regional program e.g. hr-Fernsehen to NDR FS Hamburg directly.
