Re: [mythtv-users] fanless Epia, Mediamvp or network dvd player for frontend?

2005-12-10 Thread Michael Tiller
Which reminds me of a problem I've been having. I have a MediaMVP. I have this problem that when I play .vob files off of my MythTV machine (in Videos), I get terrible performance. The video is basically OK but the sound is all messed up (out of sync, jerky, etc).
Does this have something to do with the DD2.0/5.1 issue?!? I tried transcoding but it was a disaster (hung my system, generated huge files, audio out of sync) because I did it from the command line using transcode. If anybody has a rock solid command line way of down sampling audio, video or both from .vob files I would be interested.

[mythtv-users] XBox Media Center Question

2005-12-07 Thread Michael Tiller
OK, I softmodded my XBox and got XBMC installed (thanks to all of you who sent me tips, etc).

There doesn't appear to be a way to access the Videos aspect of
MythTV. The point is that it would be nice to be able to watch
all the movies I have stored in my Videos directory on Myth.

I know I can mount them on an SMB share and see them, but it would be
nice if the IMDB stuff were shown. Am I missing something?
Is there a way to do this?

Thanks.

To be honest I have a hard time figuring out exactly what XMBC is doing just by looking at the user interface. It asks for the protocol version but it also wants the video files to be mountable across an SMB connection. As far as I can tell, it isn't streaming anything (in the mythtv://... sense) but I'm not familiar enough with the internals and the protocol to really say for sure.
I managed to watch recorded shows but never tried live TV (although it did ask where my ring buffer was stored on an SMB filesystem).Based on my very limited experience with XMBC, it looks very impressive. It would be great if the two communities worked toward some kind of integration. With the XBox 360 out and prices on used XBoxs falling, I would seriously consider an XBox over a MediaMVP. The MVPs are OK but their video quality and robustness are a bit of an issue.

Just to be clear, I was not suggesting that MythTV and XMBC become one. I see them as quite different (XMBC doesn't record at all, right?). I just think that as a viewer, XMBC is damn fine.I guess the only point I'm trying to make is that I hope the people adding Myth support for XMBC feel comfortable with the API for MythTV and that it is stable enough that they can maintain this functionality.
P.S. - It is a damn shame that using XBMC isn't as simple as burning an ISO and sticking it into the XBox. That would be awesome.--MikeOn 12/7/05,

information (AFAIK) is only used to determine that it's really a Mythtvbackend it's connecting to, and that it's there. As it relies on an SMBshare to access the files, you can safely assume it's not talking to the
backend the same way a genuine mythtv frontend would ;-)The rest of what the scripts do is basically talking to the XBMC API(what there is of it) and telling it what files to play.As for XBMC Mythtv becoming integrated, even to a small extent - I
think maybe hell will freeze over first, seen as XBMC needs to becompiled using 'borrowed' Microsoft development tools. That said, workhas been going on for a considerable amount of time, on a _true_ open

The xbox makes for a great remote frontend at a descent price. You can watch live tv on the remote frontend also, as long as there is a tuner available. Pick up a used xobx for $100, have it modded, and dowload the following torrent:

Re: [mythtv-users] MythTV Sharing Question

2005-11-15 Thread Michael Tiller
One thing to keep in mind is that the MythWeb interface allows you to download shows from the backend to any computer.

I usually use this feature in conjunction with a web browser, not the
myth frontend. There are no real technical hurdles except
bandwidth (I can stream videos within my house, but there isn't enough
bandwidth to stream it over my ISP). If you use MythWeb and Save
As from your browser, that should do it.

If you want it integrated into the frontend, I suppose you could write
something that either access your friends database directly or scraped
info from their MythWeb interface but the real problem is that it is
essentially impossible for this to be On Demand. If you did
want to watch one of their shows you would have to wait for it to queue
up.

At work we just got a $700 computer projector that looks
fantastic. I hooked my laptop up to it while watching a
widescreen DVD and it even seems to support the widescreen format quite
nicely.

So, I'm thinking about getting one of these for my basement. My
plan would be to mount it on the ceiling and project it against a
wall. I'd also like to hook a very simple MythTV frontend up to
it. My plan would be to have only a DVD reader, small hardrive
(if necessary), network and video card in it (i.e. no tuner cards and
no direct live TV feed to the projector...only live TV from a backend
over the network).

Here are a few questions:

1) Any comments on why this might be a bad idea? :-) It sure looks attractive to me.

2) Any special issues with video cards? When I hooked my laptop
up the projector we have at work, it seemed like my laptop was putting
out a special resolution on the output port and that the projector was
matching it. The widescreen version looked great. Will all
video cards+X.conf be able to provide the optimal widescreen resolution
or is this a special feature to look for?

3) The projector we have at work is a 1600 lumens Panasonic. It
also seems fairly cheap. I get the impression it can support some
pretty high resolutions (HDTV?)

4) I've got a fairly nice 5.1 receiver plus speakers. Anything
special I need to hook that up to a computer? If I play a DVD,
will it send a pro-logic encoded signal over normal line out or do I
need to have a sound card that can split it up locally and then send
out all the signals separately? I may just skip the 5.1 for now
use simulated surround sound.

5) I'd like this to be as cheap as possible (WAF). If I'm just
using the frontend to playback DVDs and programs recorded on a backend,
I assume I can get by with some pretty low end specs. Since I
only need to do playback, I suppose a PIII could probably fit the bill
although I suspect that might actually be hard to find. I have
this thought in my head that someday I'll have HD quality recordings on
my backend. What does it take to get HDTV playback (only) for a
frontend. The MythTV site mentions some kind of NVIDIA
acceleration? I probably can't afford to protect for this
capability but it doesn' t hurt to at least understand the tradeoff.

6) I considered a diskless configuration (probably save me money), but
it seems SO COMPLICATED to setup. Could I boot KnoppMyth and then
take the DVD out? Would that work?!? Then I could save on
the disk and just boot the thing with a DVD and leave it running all
the time. Comments?

Any other suggestions would be very much appreciated.
Unfortunately, I don't have much time or money so any suggestions along
the lines of quick and cheap would be very useful.

cables? I would imagine such a cable is pretty damn
expensive? The alternative would be mounting the computer from
the ceiling as well somehow so it was closer to the projector (and out
of the way).

[mythtv-users] Frontend for home theater

2005-11-04 Thread Michael Tiller

Ouch! That is not at all what I wanted. Bummer. I
don't even have an HDTV so I don't care about HD. What I wanted
was a pure digital feed to my MythTV box so I wouldn't need to do an

So it sounds like I'm just stuck using an Hauppauge card to capture the output from the digital receiver. Hmmm

[mythtv-users] Transcoding and MediaMVP

2005-09-19 Thread Michael Tiller
I ripped a couple of DVDs but I find that when I try to play them
through one of my MediaMVPs that it is a bit jerky. That is my
fundamental problem so if anybody has any suggestions about that in
general, let me know.

My current approach involves trying to transcode them down to a lower
bitrate hoping that I won't have sync issues in that case (playing back
TV recordings, even at high quality, seems to work pretty well).

I've been playing around with transcode but I don't quite understand
what it is doing. It has about a million command line switches
and my experiments so far frequently lead me to two files: one for
video and one for audio (at least, I think that is what is happening).

Anybody have some good boiler plate command lines for transcode that
will take a .VOB file and give me a complete video file that plays on
the MediaMVP (I think mvpmc only handles MPEG1/MPEG2 but I'm not sure)?

Thanks for any assistance.

Re: [mythtv-users] PVR-150/500 and bttv?

2005-09-11 Thread Michael Tiller
I don't think I'm gonna be much use here because I can't help you with
most of the technical details but I can say that I have run a BTTV and
a PVR-150 at the same time. One thing I found (in fact, about the
only I can add that might help you) was that the order of the cards in
the PCI slots made a difference. Unfortunately, I can't tell you
what particular configuration worked, only that it made a difference in
my case.

An additional thing to note is that I was not at all with the quality
of the captures I got from my BTTV. The quality of the signal
just seemed really bad when it came through the BTTV card. In
fact, I was so dissatisfied with it that I turned it off.

I don't know if the BTTV card just sucked (it was a Win-TV card) or if
there was some kind of interference with the PVR-150?!? If
anybody knows of a reason why the presence of the PVR-150 should make
the BTTV signal suck and knows a way to address the problem, I'm all
ears.

Re: [mythtv-users] Media MVP Setup Guide

2005-09-09 Thread Michael Tiller
Anybody having trouble with the setup should know that you can telnet
into your MVPMC. I didn't know this when I started but
fortunately I didn't have any trouble. But when I was trying to
mount some drives, I found it quite useful to simply go in and try
things out first before formalizing the config files. Just telnet
to it's IP address and use 'root' as the username (no password).

1 DHCP

DHCP is required assign an IP address to the MediaMVP. It also
specifies the location of the tftp server in the DHCP response packet,
otherwise the MediaMVP will not be able to boot.
1.1 Installing the DHCP server
$ su
# apt-get install dhcp

1.2 Configuring the DHCP server
You need to edit your /etc/dhcpd.conf file first. In the example below,
we're setting up a subnet 192.168.0.50 through
192.168.0.60. The
DNS servers are xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx and xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx. Our default
gateway is 192.168.0.1. We are going to permanently assign IP
address 192.168.0.10 to our MediaMVP. Most of these values are not used
by the MediaMVP, but this is how you could use a linux DHCP server in
your own environment.

NOTE: You must replace xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx with the MAC address of your actual MediaMVP.

ddns-update-style none;
# basic subnet declaration, my router is at 192.168.0.1
# and this reserves a range of 10 IP numbers for use

 # default gateway
 option routers 192.168.0.1;
 option domain-name-servers xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx;
 # The following options are for dynamic IPs
 range 192.168.0.50
192.168.0.60;
 default-lease-time 21600;
 max-lease-time 43200;
}

# you then should give your MediaMVP a fixed IP number,
# and a filename to boot from. Note you will need
# to get the MediaMVP's MAC address from the sticker
# on the bottom of the unit
host MVP1 {
 hardware ethernet xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx;
 fixed-address 192.168.0.10;
 filename dongle.bin.mvpmc;
}
--

1.3 Starting the DHCP server
Make sure that dhcp is started at bootup:
# /sbin/chkconfig dhcpd on
Start dhcp now or restart if it is already running.
# /sbin/service dhcpd start

2 TFTP
2.1 Installing the TFTP server
# apt-get install tftp-server
2.2 Starting the TFTP server
The tftp server runs under xinetd server. I'm not sure how to
start tftp other than through the Gnome gui. Click System
Settings, Server Settings, Services. Scroll down and check off
tftp and xinetd.
Make sure that xinetd is started at bootup:
# /sbin/chkconfig xinetd on
Start xinetd now or restart if it is already running.
# /sbin/service xinetd start

3 NFS
3.1 Installing the NFS server
# apt-get install nfs-utils
3.2 Configuring NFS server
You need to edit your /etc/exports file first. In the example below, we
export or share /myth/tv and /myth/music to our MediaMVP at
192.168.0.10 read-only.
--
/myth/tv 192.168.0.10(ro)
/myth/music 192.168.0.10(ro)
---

3.3 Starting the NFS server
Make sure that the NFS server is started at bootup:
# /sbin/chkconfig nfs on
Start the NFS server now or restart if it is already running.
# /sbin/service nfs start
4 Allow remote frontends to connect.
Configuring a remote front-end is relatively easy. There are two steps
you need to take on your back-end machine, followed by a quick edit of
a config file and a breeze through the mythtvsetup utility on the
remote front-end.
On your back-end, you need to allow mysql connections from other hosts
on your network. This example assumes your local area network is
192.168.0.0/255.255.255.0, adjust accordingly for your network:
$ mysql -u root -p mythconverg
mysql grant all on

Re: [mythtv-users] Best deal on premade lirc receivers?

2005-09-02 Thread Michael Tiller
A timely topic...

http://www.home-electro.com/buy_it.php

I bought an IRA-3 from these guys and I'm in the process of returning
it. I had a hell of a time trying to get this thing to work with
LIRC. I had lots of configuration hassles and it turns out that
libirman (used by LIRC) has a bug in it that fails to set the proper
number of stop bits for an IRMAN device. I don't know how that
slipped by for so long but once I fixed that, I get the IRA-3
initialized. However, despite all the work I put into it the
particular unit I have seems to be defective. While it
initializes correctly, it can return multiple codes for the same key on
the same remote. I confirmed the problem wasn't my remote (i.e. I
see this no matter what remote I use).

I sent notes to the info, sales and tech-support email addresses
asking for help and didn't get any response. Finally had to call
them on the phone and by then I was so upset I just wanted to wash my
hands of the thing.

In summary, I would not recommend this particular reciever although I'm willing to concede that my case may not be typical.

Re: [mythtv-users] lirc and irrecord die with: irman_init(): Unknown error 4294967293

2005-09-02 Thread Michael Tiller
Sadly, I've been down this road and it was nothing but grief for me.

Try this. Compile libirman and run the 'test_io' program.
My guess is you will get garbage and/or the word 'NO' as output.
This is not good. If you can't get this bit to work then you can
forget about LIRC, irrecord, irw, etc.

What test_io should do is send the characters 'I' and 'R' to the
receiver. This should trigger an initialization of the chip in
the receiver and it should respond with 'OK'. Mine didn't.
But I found the problem. If you look in irio.c (I think it was
that one), they don't set the number of stop bits. If, on you
Gentoo machine, the number of stop bits was set correctly to begin with
then you are in good shape. If, like me, you happen to have no
stop bits as the default then you are just out of luck.

So, if you add the line to set the stop bits (you have to or the CSTOPB
constant back into the settings, IIRC) then you should be able to run
test_io and get 'OK' as the response.

OK, if you get that far don't be too happy because that is where things
went really south for me. I got the device initialized and after
getting 'OK' from the remote, I was getting my nice 6 byte stream in
response to every button I pressed on the remote. The problem
was, I would sometimes get a different 6 bytes for the same remote
key. You can see this with 'test_io' as well. Just run
'test_io' and hold down a remote key (one the repeats). Now move
the remote around while holding the key down. If your unit is
like mine, you will not get the same code for every key press.

I sincerely hope it works for you and hopefully some of this info will help. But I'm returning mine...

Well, why not try doing what the LIRC documentation recommends and take the serial port drivers out of the kernel... if the system is already allocating /dev/ttyS0, then LIRC can't use it.

Re: [mythtv-users] Need IR advice

2005-08-30 Thread Michael Tiller
This sounds interesting. But I have a few questions. I want
this remote to function like a TiVo remote. By that I mean I want
all the buttons to control the MythTV machine except the volume related
buttons (UP, DOWN and MUTE) and the Power button. These should
send codes to the TV. I specifically don't want to have to hit
the TV button to control the TV and a VCR/DVR button to control the
DVR. I want to set it up so that the volume buttons in DVR model
control the TV.

Is this possible?

[mythtv-users] Need IR advice

2005-08-28 Thread Michael Tiller
After getting my Myth box set up, I have been on a quest to improve the
WAF for my system. There have been many tweaks, but my holy
grail has been to get all the functions (both media center + TV + ...)
on to a single universal remote. I thought my objective was
within my grasp, but I've been thwarted once again and I'm hoping
somebody can provide me with a solution to my latest problem.

First, a bit of background. I have a PVR-150 card. I got
the LIRC stuff going with the IR pickup that came with the card.
But, it only works with the Hauppauge supplied remote. I know in
theory I could probably get it to work with other RC-5 remotes, but
none of the codes I tried on my universal remote seemed to work.

I tried making my own, but the voltages weren't right and I just didn't have the time to iterate on that thing.

So I bought an IRA-3 from www.home-electro.com thinking my days of
screwing around were over. Sadly, I was wrong. The IRA-3
uses the IRMAN protocol, BTW.

I hooked the thing up and tried to get it to work with the version of
LIRC already installed on my machine (0.7.1). No dice. I
couldn't seem to get anything. It kept giving me an error in
irman_init(). Crap. So I got the source to LIRC and tried
building it. No dice, same error. Because I could
initialize the device on my Windows machine, I didn't understand what
the problem was. I got the latest versions of LIRC and libirman
and tried to sort things out.

After a considerable amount of digging and learning far more about
IRMAN, IR, LIRC and serial ports than I ever wanted to learn, I
eventually managed to narrow down the problem. While the IRMAN
protocol specifies 9600 baud, 8 data bits, no partity, no flow control
and 1 stop bit, the port initialization fails to actually specify one
stop bit (although it doesn explicitly handle all the other
parameters). I added one line to the initialization routine in
libirman (to set the stop bit to 1, something it should have already
been doing even according to the comments in the code) and low and
behold...it worked!!! My IRA-3 initialized and I started getting
data from it in the expected 6 byte chunks. Hooray!!!

At this point, I thought I had finally conquered this stupid
issue. I rebuilt libirman and LIRC using the new initialization
code and I was well on my after running irrecord and building up a
.conf file for my remote.

Then...disaster struck. After trying to use Myth with the new
remote it seemed like it was ignoring some of the key presses. I
went back into raw mode (using test_io in libirman to output the codes)
and it turns out that the stupid thing is spitting out multiple codes
for the same key. I don't mean it repeats itself (which it does,
but that is a different issue). I mean it gives a different code
sequence! God Damn IT

The problem seems to be related to the history of key presses. As
I said, a single keypress send a duplicated code but that doesn't seem
to cause any problem. The real problem is when the codes
change. For example, running 'test_io', these sequences are for
the same key:

[29][14][7d][f7][5f][ff]
[29][14][7d][f7][5f][ff]
[2a][e8][4e][f7][5f][3f]
[2a][e8][4e][f7][5f][3f]
[29][14][7d][f7][5f][ff]
[29][14][7d][f7][5f][ff]

WTF? I find that if I hit the same key repeatedly I pretty much
get consistent codes. But, if I jump around (e.g. LEFT, RIGHT,
Channel-UP, LEFT) that the same key (e.g. LEFT) will have different
codes.

My hope is that somebody has some simple remedy (e.g. something simple
like turning on flow or changing the parity or something). By the
way, the Hauppauge remote works fine. But it only send 2 bytes?!?

Any suggestions?!? I was so close. After having hacked may way
through all this to have it fail to read remote key signals reliably is
so aggravating!

Any help would be greatly, greatly appreciated.

[mythtv-users] Cornucopia of the Commons

2005-08-10 Thread Michael Tiller
I was sitting around contemplating my MythTV setup the other day and it
occurred to me that with the number of deployed MythTV boxes, there
should be some really interesting social possibilities. Perhaps
this has already been discussed, but it seems to me that the open
nature of MythTV would make these relatively easy to add.

The specific case I was thinking about was what to watch on TV.
TiVo has its suggestions capability and I do miss that. But
MythTV could do much better. Instead of looking at my viewing
habits and trying to guess what I'd like, what if you looked at my
viewing habits and then compared them with viewing habits of other
MythTV owners? If you were somehow able to compile all the
viewing information (in an opt-in, privacy friendly way of course),
then you could pretty easily identify patterns. So if I record
Law Order and Numb3rs and it notices that most people who
record those shows also record The Closer then it would point that
out to me.

This could be just like the online commerce approach of people who bought this also bought

This kind of capability wouldn't just have to rely on past data, it
could see into the future. It could recognize patterns in what
people with similar interests will record in the future.

I wonder if commercial identification could work in a similar
way...combining information about what the various commercial
identifying algorithms identified along with information about what
parts of a program people fast-forwarded or skipped through to create a
nearly definitive map of a broadcast (of course, this requires that
time pass and some people have already watched the episode, but I'm
just brainstorming here).

As I said, perhaps this has been discussed before, I don't know.
I thought it was an interesting idea and reflects many trends in how
social data is being handled (e.g. http://del.icio.us).

If I had the time, I'd probably try and implement something
myself. But being overcommitted already with other obligations,
I'm afraid I have little to offer such a project except perhaps some
ideas, user feedback and encouragement. :-(

Re: [mythtv-users] Cornucopia of the Commons

2005-08-10 Thread Michael Tiller
I understand such concerns but there are several reasons why I suspect
the danger of this is quite limited. First, MythTV users are such
a small fraction of the total viewers that I can't imagine TV stations
would think it was worth the effort. Second, there is no
demographic information being included here so even if they thought
there were enough people participating to warrant biasing their current
activities in this area with the additional information, the age and
total income of the viewer is, from my understanding, a key factor in
weighting this information and they wouldn't have that. Granted,
people who build MythTV setups probably do fall into a group that is
considered to have disposable income so I suppose they might just take
this on faith. Third, I suspect that most MythTV builders
probably run counter to most programming so if anything, it would
probably bulk up the long tail. Finally, as far as targeting
advertising...this is MythTV...it would be totally ineffective.

As I said, I understand these concerns but I suspect the benfits to MythTV users would out weigh the potential disadvantages.

 c) relatively cheap
 d) works with LIRC

Does anybody have any suggestions? I have the IR receiver that

it is RC-5 only. I looked at StreamZap, but I couldn't find
anything that says it works with TiVo either (if somebody can confirm
it does...I'll buy it).

Re: [mythtv-users] Hostname for Frontend machine

2005-05-30 Thread Michael Tiller
I had a similar problem, but renaming also seemed to affect something
in the mysql configuration. In other words, I had set everything
up and then decided that I didn't like the host name. Changing it
seemed to break everything. Does this sound like it should happen?

Re: [mythtv-users] OT: IR wired extenders

2005-05-20 Thread Michael Tiller
Since you apparently have network cable in the bedroom, I'm surprised
nobody mentioned using the MediaMVP. It is $100.

That being said, I don't have any direct experience with it (although
I've been assuming I would go this route at some point to address the
exact same issue). Is there some reason a MediaMVP won't
work? My understanding is that there is an open source
replacement for the onboard software that understand MythTV
(http://mvpmc.sourceforge.net/idx.php?pg=screenshots).

Please tell me know if there is something wrong with this solution...it may be my Father's Day gift. :-)

Anyone have a good plan / source / suggestion for a good IR extender?(Application: Frontend not in bedroom, TV and IR reciever in bedroom.Make S.O. very happy)I've tried several off the shelf products, and I seem to have waay too
much interference to get them working. I've tried several of theintegrated video/audio/IR senders with the same result. I get greatvideo (have a sub 2gig product, a 2.4gig product, and a 5.8ghzproduct), but the IR lights seem to stay on solid and broadcast all
kinds of noise which makes it impossible to use a remote.Upon looking closer at the video senders, none of them send IR overthe same frequency / channel as the video/audio. They all use a 2nd
set of xmitters in some low band, where I still get interfered with.My house is Cat6 wired so I'm tempted to find some way to just carrythe IR directly.Thoughts? What are others doing? I'd rather not spend $2-300 on some
high end setup to just carry IR 75 feet.___mythtv-users mailing listmythtv-users@mythtv.org

[mythtv-users] Newbie: A few questions

2005-05-15 Thread Michael Tiller
I decided two weeks ago to build my own MythTV box and I've been
working through all the little details since then. Overall, I'm
quite happy. Most of the time when I think why doesn't it work
like this instead I find that there is a setting to do what I
want. But here are a few questions that I haven't been able to
figure out...

1) I've been using the IR port on my PVR-150. It worked great
with the Hauppauge remote but then I came to find out (after spending
way too much time on this) that it only understand RC-5
remotes. I was hoping to use my TiVo remote for this
machine. What is the cheapest way to put in an IR port that will
work with the TiVo remote?

2) I have a PVR-150 and an old WinTV card (bttv drivers). Picture
is pretty bad on the WinTV card even though both tuners are getting the
same signal. Is there anything I can do to try and punch up the
signal quality for bttv?

3) There seem to be lots of recording options but one that I really
miss from TiVo is the wishlist option. Yes, I can use regular
expressions to search the guide, but is there a way to get it to record
based on patterns? It has a few options to use the title of the
selected program, but that isn't quite good enough. For example,
I want to record the Detroit Pistons' games. But the title is
always NBA Basketball or NBA Playoffs. The Pistons part is
always in the description. Can this be done?

4) On the TiVo, it is constantly keeping the ring buffer filled.
This is kinda nice. Is there any option for this in MythTV?

5) I read somewhere that MythTV should be smart about DPMS stuff.
It would be nice if it was at a menu if it could go into powersafe mode
(but obviously I don't want it doing that while it is playing).
Is there a way to do this?

6) The commercial skip features sometimes works and sometimes
doesn't. One that would be nice is if the timeline for the
program (the thing at the bottom that says things like 1:29:22 of
2:59:55 had vertical lines to show the points that the advance button
will jump to. I didn't see anything like this. As it is
now, I just skip ahead but if it say 11:15 for the amount skipped
then I have to go back. It would be nice if I could see this
before hand. It would also be nice if, in the case where the
program hasn't been marked for commercials yet, it the advance button
simply reverted to 30 second skip.

7) I've created a couple of recording groups. But I haven't been
able to find a way to organize recorded programs by these groups under
Watch Recordings.

8) Is there a way to setup multiple transcoding profiles? In
other words, it would be nice if when you say Transcode you could
specify things like LowQuality, RemoveCommercials,
HighQualityMPEG4, etc. I didn't see anyway to set such profiles
up. Did I miss something?

9) MythMusic doesn't seem to include basic browsing options like by
Genre, by Artist, etc? Did I miss something? How do you
build playlists in MythMusic?

10) When I pause, it would be nice if either play or pause caused it to
start again. It is a bit odd that play causes it to mark the
position.

Well, that is probably enough for now (although I'm sure I could easily
think of 10 more questions). I apologize in advance if you don't
think I've RTFM but really, I've waded through quite a bit.
Thanks for any help.
