Re: [mythtv-users] Working on an OSD
Yeah, I imagine everyone has their own needs/preferences. Which is why I'm sure most of this is easily parameterized :) What would be REALLY COOL would be to have an OSD equivalent of what myxer is to themes. You could select the fields you wanted, the graphics/colors you liked, fonts and sizes, etc. from lists on a web page and then have a preview drawn for you real-time. When you get it the way you like it you could press a button and have it dump out the xml you need to generate it. If you haven't tried myxer and it's configuration utils you should take a look... Dave Hofstra did a nice job with it and Stef Coene's php configurator is also very cool. The relevant gossamer thread is here: http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/mythtv/users/139517?do=post_view_threaded Of course this is beyond my php skills (currently none) and knowledge of OSD theme construction (also currently none), but it's an idea at least :) --Jack --- Bill Omer <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Jack Perveiler wrote: > >I'd be happier with seeing when the original record date was. Basically I ripped through other OSD's first and then grep'd everything that looked like it might be XML related in the myth source ... made a lit and just played pretty much. There might be an easier way but this way was fun at least :-) ... the art part ... well I've always been interested in playing with graphics tools I guess. Hrmmm ... do you mean while watching a recorded program, bring up the OSD and have this information shown while you view it? I know in the list of recorded programs, it lists the date it was recorded so that might be a little redundant unless of course someone asks you while you are watching it when it was recorded you'd have to stop watching it and look in the list of recorded programs to see a date. The first aired I'm not sure how to do. I'll take a look and see what other data can be displayed, they're all predefined vairables from what I can tell, you just format where they are and how they display in the OSD. Hi Steve, Basically all you should have to do is untar it into the themes directory: /usr/local/share/mythtv/themes/ and go into your setup where you select your OSD theme. You should see a new option in the dropdown 'bangosd'. When I get home tonight I'll confirm the exact localtion of where you select your OSD theme. That should be it ... unfortuneately I can't remember what submenu the OSD theme is in ... deepending on what format you use for your navigation ... on mine I believe it's something like settings -> appearance -> general. Either way I'll update the README when I know for sure with detailed instructions on enabling the theme. -- Lonny On 9/29/05, Dan Wilga <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: I went to install it last night, and realized that there's more to itthan just plunking it into the themes directory.
