Re: [mythtv-users] Xine issues

2005-12-20 Thread Peter Osterberg
I've changed to xv now, haven't had the time to try xvmc yet.. Maybe
this evening...

Anyway... The jerky part of me picture disapeared when I turned on
de-interlace but I have one more issue left. This issue is found
regardless of which output driver I've tried so far.

I can see a shadow of the last aframe round fast moving objects. It is
especially visible on animated dvd's. I don't see anything like this on
my regulard dvd player. I noticed that I had turned on maximum post
processing and turned it of completely but that didn't help.

Anyway your help did help with the jekyness and that was far worse but I
really want to get rid of this as well.

Sincerely,
Peter Österberg

I'll bet XvMC is working better than you think. ;)

xxmc is "eXtended XvMC" and is the name of xine's XvMC video output
plugin that supports NVIDIA (standard) XvMC, VLD XvMC, and falls
back to
Xv if XvMC is unavailable. xine doesn't have an "xvmc" plugin (using
any combination of capitalization), so it doesn't recognize it as a
valid video output plugin.

Assuming you have the ATI fglrx driver installed and xvinfo states xv
support is present, try using -V xv in xine. This cured the xine
playback issues I had on a Radeon 9100 system.

Your screen resolution won't affect the performance with xshm & software
scaling. Scaling is scaling, more or less. If the video is 720x480,
then unless your screen is also running at 720x480, it has to scale.
Doesn't matter too much how much it has to scale; just that it has to
do it at all. You certainly have the horsepower to do xshm output, I
think, but if you can get xv/xvmc/opengl/sdl working, then I think
you'll be better off.

xv and opengl looks best but none of them are perfect. OpenGL look best

OpenGL uses about 8% CPU while xv only consumes 5-6% CPU.

Will it play anything else, e.g. avi, mpg files? Have you tried
running xine-check? Have you tried running xine --bug-report?

Alternatively take this over to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

This is getting dow right frustrating.
I re-emerged xine and the decryption libraryand still, xine won't
play a dvd.

It just opens a black box, and hangs.

can't plat encrypted dvd's

(mplayer of course only played title 1). I modified the command
line to be xine -n -g f -p dvd:// from a post I found, but it still
just hangs.

On the gentoo box, it might be because kde is also running (I would
love to stop that from happening, and instead just have the frontend
loop, so that if it crashes, it would just keep restarting).

On the xbox, it just goes to a blank screen. Now I had heard that
the xbox running xebian live cd (which I do from the apps dir) won't
play dvd's with xine. But I can't confirm that.

Anyone here know how to fix these issues?
Thanks,
Fuzzie

Fuzzie,

Works fine on my FC3 frontend:

For DVD: xine --no-splash -pfhq -I -D -B -S volume=90 dvd://
For video: xine --no-splash -pfhq -I -D -B -S volume=90 %s

-pfhqPlay automatically, full screen, hide gui, quit on completion

-I No Gui (-g is alternative, hide gui or this might actually not be
needed due to h option above?)
-DDeinterlace
-BBorderless
-S volume=90 Equalise volume with rest of Mythtv

cheers,
Dave
