[newbie] E-mail Clients
Hello, everybody! I'm currently using the Netscape e-mail client along with Kmail; I'm looking for a client which features message filters and search and multiple pop accounts, better if designed for Gnome; there's a lot of programs, what would you suggest me? Thank you! Corrado

Re: [newbie] E-mail Clients
Did you managed to get CSC installed? Corrado Monte Milanuk wrote: as with most things *nix, the answer is... it depends. If you are looking for gtk I believe balsa is the current lead contestant. Supposedly there is an Outlook (multipurpose communications) knockoff called Evolution that is on its way from the gnome folks. For now, you have balsa, and maybe CSCmail If it doesn't have to be gtk, just easy on the eyes, mahogany isn't too bad. I had some issues w/ it not wanting to work for me. YMMV. Or, you could used mutt in an Eterm. That way you have mutt's capabilities (pretty much top shelf) w/ clickable menu's. Me, I'm going to grit my teeth and use pine (gritting my teeth because of the lack of threading) and wait and hope and pray for XPine to get to a more usable state. [newbie] Printer and Scanner
Hi, every body! I've made a little selection on what I could buy: does anybody owns a HP 930 printer? I don't think I'll buy a SCSI scanner, not now, anyway... My budget is very low, I think I'll use Windows as a Linux utility, for the months to come... Or do you think Canon 620P or HP 3200C could work under Linux?!? Corrado
[newbie] New hardware
I suppose I'm quiet lucky, 'cause I *still* have to buy a printer, a scanner and possibly a webcam for my home pc... So, I'd really like some advice based on your own experience: let me know if your printer, scanner or webcam works with no problem at all with Mandrake 7.0... I'm open to *any* suggestion, but could somebody tell me if *there is* a good serial port scanner which I can use? I know about sane, but first hand impression would be very useful! I've seen a Canon BJC 5100 sold at a lower price: any experience with this printer? Thank you! Corrado
[newbie] OT: free internet
I know this is not directly tied to Linux matter... but a friend of mine needs help: can somebody tell me how can he sign for a free internet access in New York? And does he need a different modem or european standard device will work as well in the States? Thank you, and forgive me for this OT... Corrado
[newbie] Creative Cd Rw
Uh.. I forgot... :-) Has anybody experienced any problem with Creative Labs 4424 Cd Rw? Many Thanks! Corrado

[newbie] Strange connection...
What I've just discovered is quiet stunning: when I try to connect with a provider different from the one set during installation, all goes smooth except when I try to log on a IRC or ICQ server... every time it seems the server does not even exists... that's what X-Chat tell me... KXicq too does not even managed to connect... There is anything I can do? Thank you! Corrado

Thanks, never had to do with such a matter, before! Can you tell me where can I find those decoders, please? [newbie] Reinstalling Windows
I have to reinstall W98: there is something I have to be warned? I did'nt installed LILO on the MBR, but at the beginning of a Linux partition... Corrado
Re: [newbie] Things are going to change?
Of course you're right, but the fact itself that somebody care to include a driver for Linux AND in the box, is something worthing note... Re: [newbie] Netscape 6
Yes, indded... ^__^ I just read Anthony's reply... now I'm a little puzzled: in a magazine, they said Netscape 6 is more stable, by this point of view... So, I supposed N6 *is* java enabled... Or there is something I have to do, in order to make java work? Sorry if I'm a little dumb, yesterday I had to reinstall Mandrake... :-( Corrado Paul wrote: On Mon, 22 May 2000, Corrado wrote: I suppose Netscape 6 in java-enabled.. Am I wrong? [newbie] Audioconferencing
Now, before I fall asleep :-) , a BIG help about another topic is needed: I'll be very grateful if someone could give me a full introdutcion to audioconferencing, I need to be told all from scratch, in fact... Quiet silly, if you think my first computer was a Commodore VIC 20, but that's the truth... To be more specific, I'd like to know what I have to do in order to get in touch with people which use Netmeeting (you know, those Lost Soul that still think Win-that-thing is an os...). Many thanks to all of you! Corrado

About this topic, please, I need some little help: does anybody know if can register a nick with KvIRC, X-Chat (I'm currently using both) or any other IRC desugned for Linux? Re: [newbie] mouse configuration problem
I'm having exactly the same problem... but I have Mandrake 7.0, Xfree 3.3.6, which is supposed to "see" my Trio 3D agp 2x... It is "accepted" like SVGA, instead: there are some tuning I can do through XF86Setup, or any other way? Thanks! Corrado Paul wrote: On Tue, 25 Apr 2000, Po Yuen Kwok wrote: Greetings. I have heard that the S3 card is not supported well in earlier Xfree3x servers. Try upgrading to a more recent version (http://www.xfree86.org). Good chance that solves your problem. [newbie-it] Webcam e c.
Salve! :-|
