[newbie] CRM
Well I'm convinced. I have managed to lock up, crash, and ruin the system to the point where my ML cd's were in danger of wearing holes in them from reinstalling, BUT never lost my newly stored data. TuxBox is now and forevermore my serious machine, with the Windows box relegated to toy status. I have survived enough learning to install my new Qcad, MyBooks, Opera, and Komba2. All I need now to be self-sufficient is a good CRM program. I have used Goldmine and ACT on Windows. Any suggestions? I've muddled thru Google and found a few maybe's. TIA and thanks for tons of help, list. Lee Wiggers Want to buy your Pack or Services from MandrakeSoft? Go to http://www.mandrakestore.com
[newbie] File transfer under komba2
Hi list I went to bed last night with a satisfied smile. mp3 files on the old windows box were transferring slow but sure to my 8.1 linux box. Whew When I got up 6.1 gig had transferred, leaving 4 gig behind, and the linux box was frozen with the monitor black. Windows box was laughing away, happy as a clam. System is smc router w/3 windows boxes and 1 linux box w/ 9 gig scsi hard drive and 60 gig ide (where the files were going.) On reboot there was no failure noted and everything works fine so far. Any idea why? Should I worry or just sweep up the odds and ends and not tell anyone? TIA Lee Want to buy your Pack or Services from MandrakeSoft? Go to http://www.mandrakestore.com

Thanks Colin and All I found an excellant tutorial and am now up and running Samba after a mere 40 hrs of frustration. Not bad for a hobby! Lots of self-inflicted problems, as usual. Thansk for the tip, Derek. Hadn't thought of that. Love this list. Nothing at all wrong with Linux. The .iso is a disk image, you need to tell your software that. If you are using windows something like easy cd creator or Nero for example. There is a selection in one of the menus with something like create cd from image or similar. -- Chad Young Registered Linux User #195191 @ http://counter.li.org Reg. Re: [newbie] Hostility Levels on the list
Some of us refugees do appreciate the help very much, are not rude ever, no matter how provoked, and would prefer not to be tarred with the same brush as those who are rude and/or hostile. Frankly, as a lurker extraordinaire, I would rather associate with the guy who gave up an old video card than the one who chastised the big mouth. BUT.You are all very valuable and appreciated here. Perhaps the folks on a newbie list could learn to say thank you to those who respond to their questions, and not start with the name calling. Or perhaps the next time, they'll get far fewer responses. I seldom let things like this burn me. But this person went out of their way just to insult someone who tried to help. Maybe the rest of you will remember the name when more questions are asked. Have a good day Ric It's been getting hostile on all the forums and ngs since 8.0 came out, and that number has been multiplied by the influx of windows refugees since the publicity surrounding the windows product activation. It's gotten to where trying to help ain't even fun anymore. I agree, it's a sad state of affairs. -s Want to buy your Pack or Services from MandrakeSoft?
