[newbie] licq qt
Hi all, anyone managed to get the *latest* version of licq running (note - not the one on the mandrake cd... but the one on the www.licq.com site)? it throws up qt dependency problems.(qt = 2.1 needed).. if someone can throw some light on this solution i'd be very grateful... or even better still.. solve it :) TIA, Ger.

[newbie] SSH
Hi all, i`m trying to implement SSH and i`m in need of assistance. I`m running 7.02 (air) .. and i`m not sure of whether to implement openssh or the non-commercial ssh. At the moment i`m trying to install openssh but it requires openssl, when i try and compile this i am getting errors with it. if anyone has successfully installed SSH .please let me know and talk me through what i need etc. I'd be very grateful for some help. regards, Gerald Davies. /===

[newbie] HELP WITH SHARES
Hi ... can anyone tell me how to use/configure SWAT. I figure if i can get SWAT working it might be easier for me to learn about SAMBA. [newbie] Shutdown Poweroff
Are there any quick ways of shutting down / poweroff'ing a linux box that isn`t running X? ... The machine boots at runlevel3 ... so i issue the shutdown command, which takes it to runleve1 (single user) ...then i have to issue poweroff... is this due to my AT board?... can all of this be automated? .. are there any keyboard shortcuts... etc? [newbie] S3Virge and PS1 Monitor
Hi, i`m having problems with either/both of these 2 pieces of h/ware. when installing it recognizes s3virge... and then there are no options for PS1 monitor. it says i have a problem with my monitor and will not display so i am stuck at runlevel 3 or 4... without any GUI or anything. as a result of this i cannot now log in as root as it says password incorrect, even tho i've changed it by issuing the following: 'linux s' at boot time. and then 'passwd root' anyone have a solution? it would allow me at least to get some sleep !!! cheers. It gets to a point where i get the following message 'Loading second stage ramdisk...' and hangs or proceeds to do nothing for a very very long time ;) any suggestions / solutions much appreciated. Then the important thing for me was to not install all the rpm's at once or too many of them. I just selected a minimal set of packages and it worked. Later, I just added the ones I need to the system. Give it a try.

[newbie] FTP INSTALLATION
are there any docs/how-tos on this subject? i've created a LOCAL ftp server on a windoze pc... it has anonymous accounts... and the directory is my mandrake cd... altho i`m not sure which directory of the cd is needed... if anyone can help or talk me through this i'd appreciate it loads!!!
