[newbie] KDE problem

I've seen this before on laptop installs cause the config he's chosen doesn't match the hardware he's got in the machine. He's going to have to continue to try different combinations of drivers until he comes up with a combination that works for his laptop. About a month ago I did an install for the CPA at work and spent 3 1/2 hours working on just getting the display correct using an acceptable color depth. Dear Mandrake users, I am a poor PhD student trying to download Mandrake 7.1. I am using windows 2000 an IE5.5 and am having difficulties with the ftp server resetting the connection (5 minutes seems to be about the maximum I can hope for) and downloading the link files (e.g. files like 'basename', 'chmod' etc. in /Mandrake/mdkinst/usr/bin/).
