Re: [newbie] netscape not working
What kind of error are you getting with Netscape? You will need to get your ISP's DNS IP # from your ISP. There is a place to specify them in the Kppp setup menu. [newbie] KFM Question
How can I get KFM to save a file that I want to download? Everytime I attempt to D/L a file it asks me which program I would like to use to open the file. How can I specify a directory to save the file to instead? Thanks, Jason Elwell

[newbie] /dev/Lp0--Device Busy or Unavailable
Hello, I have been trying to set up my HP 712c under Linux. Last week I was able to get PBM2PPA working perfectly, and today I decided to "upgrade" to PNM2PPA for the color support. Everything went good until I went to test the new installation. No matter what method I use to print, I get a message similar to" Device lp0 is busy/unavailable." I am out of ideas now. The weird thing is that I was working fine with PBM and now it wont work with neither! Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks Jason Elwell [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Re: [newbie] Hardware Compatability...
The only item on this list I can speak for is your printer...the HPDJ 812c. The Deskjet series is a "Made for Win95/98" based setup. Linux users have found it very difficult to get complete compatibility under Linux. I have the HPDJ 712c and I have been actively wrestling it for a week, and it doesnt even have color support!. Good luck, Jason Elwell On Sun, 09 Jan 2000, you wrote: Is the hardware list on the mandrake http://www.linux-mandrake.com/en/fhard.php3a little out of date? I'm planning a conversion to Linux soon and have seen my Yahama 6416 listed on as being Linux compatable on other sites. I have also seen the HP 812C printer as being fully Linux compatable, however it's not listed on the Mandrake site Is this fully supported by Mandrake Linux I'm assuming that compatability is part of the linux Kernal I have 2 CD ROMs in my computer... Will Linux recognize both? Thanks MarkP
Re: [newbie] Help. My screen is too big for my glass. -- jrt
I have the same problem with my "el cheapo generic card". It seems that some windows/boxs are just programmed not to fit. Im using 640x480 at 24 bit color. I have gotten quite used to using ALT+Left Mouse to move the window around. My screen is too big for my glass. -- jrt Date: Sat, 08 Jan 2000 21:56:01 -0500 I am in the process of replacing an ATI video card with a Voodoo 3. It is a two part process. First you get the 2D part working, the add the 3D drivers. I'm part way through the first bit, but the screen size at the lower resolutions (640x480 800x600) remains at 1024X768. When you move the mouse to the edge of the monitor, the screen 'slides' off to the side. I have read through the XF86Config man and there is no setting for virtual screen size, and I can't think of any other place it may be hidden. Please point me in the right direction.
