[newbie] KDE error on KDE startup
Hi I get a message of some sort of internal error of KDE during startup Also it says to me that I need to make sure the dcopserver is up and running any hints what it means? or what I need to do? There is another weblog - postnuke www.postnuke.com that was formely based on phpnuke but is completely rewritten for now. I have made some sites based on that and on my oppinion it works far better than phpnuke. Not maybe for performance wise , but the way on customization and administration side 7 times more advanced. lot of themes, lot of modules and so on. There is also a big difference between phpnuke and postnuke PHPNuke is open source but closed development with one man ruling it (FB), based on what he likes. POSTNuke is open source and open development with more that 100 developers around. [newbie] Mozilla error on loading
Hi I just selected a new skin for Mozilla And geuss what ? I screwed again. [newbie] Lost 1G of data
Hi Need help again I have some lost files I do not find anywhere, but I know I just copied them there 3 days ago. The dir is empty. I use konqueror as my filemanager and when I have a look at the properties of /home the following makes me wonder: Size 738,1 M Free space 494,1 /2.3 Gb (78%) used I see a mismach here in numbers. if there is 738M used then I should have one and a half gigs free. Hi One question What or who is XFS I found it in the list of running processes under KDE System Guard Process name - xfs Login - xfs and command - xfs All other processes are run under login root or then under my login. [newbie] SAMBA turns into nightmare
Hi I just need some help I want to make a simple file sharing with 2 machines one having LM8.2 other Windows2000 (sp2) I have installed Samba Clients and Servers and they are up and run on LM But what I don't have is that I don't see any shares from my W2K box. I also don't see any shares of W2K from LM using Samba. I have went through all the settings that ever crossed my mind several times and even almost disabled all the security restrictions on LM but does not help... [newbie] Interner connection speed
Hi Very wondering about the speed I get I use ADSL internet connection and the downstream speed should be 256Kb/s I made some test and all monitors show that it gets no more than 63 kb/sek Could there be some settings somewhere that are restricting that as it was almost that max speed untill I changed to linux. connection type ; adsl_pppoe Any ideas ? Short and simpel If I have 3 users that use the computer How can I make * one install of some program (lets say Star (open)Office because that what i tried to do ) * Where I should install it ? What locations * How I can make the programs appear in menu and for all 3 users * Should I do all that as root (or as newbie :=)? * Is there anything else particular that I should Keep in mind ? [newbie] Keeping Private and Simpel
Some more I want to make the life easier and still have some privacy We have 3 users (me, my wife and my mom) I use computer for a lot of several purposes, the rest use for internet and e-mail Can I do so that the computer automatically logs in as one user, but still can keep the private things private and have some authentication before opening mailbox (The rest is not so private). I also might want to hide some catalogs from the others, but thats not so important. user 1 - 4 mail accounts user 2 - 2 mail accounts user 3 - 1 mail account I use currently Evolution as I found it can handle several email accounts in a very nice way . And I also used to use the tasks and calendar in one place... (Outlook style) Today we handle the case with 3 logon names... that is very complicated (in out all the time) Any hints... maybe another program.. or some other ways to handle that ?
