I just installed Mandrake 9.0 and tried to use wine but the wine launcher was unable to find the xmessage program. It recommend 'that you use your distribution's software methods to locate xmessage. I have recently installed 8.2 and all running great except for the DVD. My
machine is a toshiba satellite with DVD-ROM/CD-RW. Only the DVD does not work
properlly. When I tried xine I recieved : input_dvd: unable to open dvd drive
(/dev/dvd): No such file or directory. What should I do to find out /dev/dvd?
In the boot process: Cannot locate block device /dev/dvd: No such file or
directory.
I can read this information with this commands :

Does anyone know how can I locate /dev/dvd. I looked every where for something that would tell it but couldn't find anything. HradDrake sees my DVD in a toshiba notebook with DVD-ROM/CD-RW as hdc; dmesg | grep hd showed hdc, but nothing is telling to xine and the rest of the OS that /dev/dvd even exists. I pointed the dvd drive with ln -s /dev/hdc/ /dev/dvd but does not work. The standard CD-RW works fine. How to I fix this? Any help would be really appreciate. Thanks in advance, Oder. I'm running a notebook Toshiba Satellite 315CDS (chipset ToPIC97 Card Bus) and under Mandrake 6.1 the modem worked fine. But now I've just installed Mandrake 7.02 and in kppp I received only "sorry, the modem is busy". In ls /dev/mo* modem not founded. does anyone have any idea about this problem? What should I do to configure a modem in Mandrake 6.0? The command dmesg showed only: Serial driver version 4.27 with Many_Ports... ttyS00 at 0x03f8 (irq=4) is a 16550A In windows my pcmcia is COM 3 IRQ 10. I don't know how to manage setserial to inform that the serial port in a non standard irq. Any help would be really appreciate. Oder
