Hence, I download a trial version of MagicISO or ISObuster ..but no succes. Can someone just give some lead becaue i'm kinda lost. TIA. Song.

Hi, I Wanted to do the same as you and finaly uninstall mandrake, install window and, after install mandrake back. Windows don't want to share... Now I am thinking of installing a windows, 98 or 2000 or whatever. What should I do now? Get rid of Mandrake, install windows and get the Mandrake all back again? Helps apprecaited. Re: [newbie] error message on boot up
Hi, Just to be sure: do I create the /initrd dir in the /boot dir? Would it matter if i have the same your README.WARNING file in it? Maybe i don't get it but why is a simple text file in /initrd would take that error message away? Is it related to the fact that i changed the kernel for a new one (kernel-2.4.8.31.2 on ML 8.0) Thanx. Thank you in advance Song you mean how to make /initrd dir? just su to root and make it, it's all there is to it. [user@localhost user]#su Password: ( enter your root password here ) [root@localhost user]# ( notice the prompt, you are root now ) [root@localhost user]# mkdir /initrd note: i just checked, i looked at my /initrd ( done this before long time ago, just didn't remember ) it has a file on it README.WARNING which reads (mkinitrd) Don't remove this directory, it's needed at boot time, in the initrd, to perform the pivot_root. i hope this solved your problem. ;o) Damian The error was exactly (at the boot) : change root to /initrd: error -2 Is the minus 2 (-2) the same?? Lucky enough, i saw your mail in the archive and it fit my question. After searching for a while in the archive, i read if it's not broken, dont fix it and i tried to ignore the error message. Anyway, Hope to hear from you or someone else. Song.
