Re: [newbie] Corel Graphics 9 changing KDE menu

My major problem after having install and indeed uninstalled, is that I have to change my mouse settings after each log-in - my normal value for acceleration is 8, where I only gets 2 (default value) after log-in. By the way - why do they call it a Linux program, when it installs/requires WINE to operate? Sincerely Mogens Jæger I guess they call it the cheap way around porting a windows program to linux. I have decided to stay away from any further prgs in a format that must run through wine. Seeing I can't find any help with the problem I will just do a full mandrake install again.

I have been following cable post as it's coming to my area soon. Security is a big issue with it. Following quite a few messages on it in a different area it was suggested that a firewall will do little to protect you on a cable network. The cable connection is acting like a bridge in most cases. A bridge does not route packets, it passes packets from one interface to the other. Everyone is sharing all the traffic of all nodes. A router was suggested in between you and the cable provider from one post. A little elaborate for just a simple home network or computer user. I don't have cable and have little experience with networking. I'm just monitoring the messages on it to make a decision when the time comes if I want to travel down that road. There is a big security issue with it that most don't consider. Be interested in hearing from others on the subject to get some education on how best to handle it.
Re: [newbie] HTML Editor Recommendations
On Sat, 19 Feb 2000, you wrote: Hey y'all, I'm looking for an HTML Editor for Linux. I used Page Mill in 'doze, but if I could learn to use a Linux html editor, I might just be able to remove all traces of M$ from my machine. I would like to know what y'all prefer. I've seen Webmaker, Bluefish, Coffee Cup, and KDreamsite. Haven't tried anything just yet, so I would like to get your thoughts...where should I start? Which is the easiest to use for a guy coming from Page Mill? Which offers the best features? Thanks in advance for your input! Lance Other then the typical HTML editors the only graphical ones like Page Mill I have found is Coffee Cup. Inside Office5.1 there's one that not bad, I've played with it a few times. Or you could use Composer inside Navigator. The fonts sometimes appear a different size going from one to the other depending upon what program you use. I would recommend viewing the finished product and both win and linux before uploading to your web page. When the font size differs it changes the placement of everything. I guess another reason to use real HTML editors. Maybe someone can explain why the fonts change depending on the program you use or view it in. Speaking of Coffee Cup did you have any trouble loading that program. For some reason it didn't work for me. Got to the graphical install wizard, hit the next button and the program disappears into never never land? Just that I personally like features, and as far as I know, you can't use POP3 with either, unless you use fetchmail. And of course, neither support HTML e-mail, which I use everywhere but on the mailing list. Anyway, check out http://www.kalliance.org and look at Magellen, that is what we have to look foreward to. Dan Just browsing the mail I came across you follow up and followed your suggestion. All I can say is Magellen looks outstanding! Can't wait until it becomes available. I have a Zoom that is PNP that works fine in windows. Linux will not pick it up with play and play, I will get modem busy as you did. If I disable the plug and play on the modem card it will work in Linux Mandrake. Mandrake boots up and sees it as a generic modem and it works fine. Also remember when selecting port option in PPP settings that if you were on port 2 in windows it would be either cua 3 or ttys3 in Linux.. Most cards work with CRTS and I would go back to using that and adjust your ports, more likely your problem. John

Sorry I should of looked before I spoke earlier, I have three different OS's I work on. The memory starts to go when you get old. John
