I run Mandrake 7.1 and I use an Asus V6800 DDR. Had to run the X config many
times as it wanted to call the card a V3800. However, it does take it as an
NVidia DDR with some prodding :-)

Still haven't run any 3-D games (ala Quake) so I can't comment on that
performance but the renderer and 2-D looks great.

Try installing version 4.0.  I have read that GeForce is about the only card
it supports properly.  I think it is designed for cards like that.  Don't
quote me, but I think it is.

that X 4 and 4.01 support native hardware acceleration
for Geforce 256 cards.  You may also be able to find
and install Nvidia drivers for linux.  Don't know
where to look for those.  I've got 3dfx cards.
