SNIP BTW Derek, where did you find SO6 beta? i kinda miss it. stupidly deleted it thinking i would be able to download it again two days before Sun took it off their site... Damian Well... I just did not delete it.. I do remember reading that it is still around in some places, but the only place I know for sure where you can get SO6 (final) is Mandrake Club for second tier members and above. But lets not open that can of worms. I'm already sick of people complaining about not getting ~$100 worth of software for a $60 subscription. Unless SO6 final is a LOT different to the beta, then I for one will stick with OpenOffice. Apart from the splash screen I cannot distinguish OO from SO6beta. derek Want to buy your Pack or Services from MandrakeSoft? Go to http://www.mandrakestore.com

It is still a great deal. The membership to the Club is for 1 year which means you can not only have access rights to nearly all the 8.2 PowerPack rpms but will also have access to those of the Next release. If you have a registered beta, they send you a patch to keep it operational until the final version comes out. Having used both the 6.0 beta and the current OpenOffice, I can't say there's much difference, unless you use the Adabas database. If anything, OO is a bit faster and more reliable. Nice to hear it's included in Mandrake now. Robin Want to buy your Pack or Services from MandrakeSoft? Go to http://www.mandrakestore.com

Thanks guys, the speed of response is amazing. I've now installed the rpm, should I now continue on with the install and update to the newer version, or is this dangerous? That's the way I did it and it works ok, but the rpm on the d/l discs installs to the Kpanel and puts icons in the right places.
