[newbie] Eterm command line question
I had eterm setup the way I wanted it by setting the command line in $/.kde/share/applnk-mdk/Terminals and it worked great, however a bit ago I had a power hit from a t-storm, rebooted the machine and all my settings are gone. They seem to be saved but I guess not. Anyway to save these other than going into the menu setup and editing the command line there then redoing my link to the desktop? -- Chris Registered Linux User 283774 http://counter.li.org 7:51pm up 1:08, 2 users, load average: 1.89, 1.28, 0.78 Nonsense. [newbie] Eterm customization
Some months back somone on this list (IIRC Shane or DarkLord) said they stumbled on a file that allowed you to tweak the ETerm console for pix, text size, etc. I'll be damned if i can find it in the archives though. Can someone pls tell me the name of the file its whereabouts in MDK's directories? TIA --- Femme Want to buy your Pack or Services from MandrakeSoft? Go to http://www.mandrakestore.com

TIA --- Femme Yes maam. /usr/X11R6/share/Eterm/themes/Eterm/MAIN For menu alterations there is also /usr/X11R6/share/Eterm/themes/Eterm/Eterm.menu By all rights these files should be in /etc/X11, but Eterm and Enlightenment hail from a very early time in Linux's history, and the authors are not only slow to come into compliance with existing filesystem conventions, but are also VERY slow to new releases. This is a serious window manager used by a very large group of people, enough that it should merit more serious attention. This of course is for local only effect. And yes it's wierd to have a configuration file buried in a themes subdirectory. I don't remember anyting about the text size, but I've always copied pictures/backgrounds that I liked into: /usr/share/Eterm/pix and then edited these files: pixmaps.list scaled-pixmaps.list tiled-pixmaps.list following the format thats already in each file. I get the cool backgrounds I want that way. With Eterm up/active, hit F1 and it will bring up a config window. I've not played with it much TBH though. RE: [newbie] Eterm configuration Question.
I think you can try starting Eterm with various flags - like 'Eterm -t theme directory or name and create your own .MAIN file for your own theme cloned from another file - or just try another theme full stop. The themes should be under /usr/X1186/share/Eterm/themes or something like that. [newbie] ETerm RPM
Does anyone know the instructions for install the eterm rpm that (might off) come with Mandrake v8 ?? Olly Marshall IT Manager Absolute Internet www.absoluteinternet.com [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Re: [newbie] ETerm RPM
Oliver, First, stop sending HTML e-mails--if you send in plain text, you are more likely to get an answer. As for installing eterm, provided you have v8.x (or one of the freqs), you can do 'rpm -ivh packagename.rpm' to install. If you are on 7.x, it isn't likely (at least not at this point), that the Eterm provided in 8.x is backward compatible (since it was built for rpm 4.x, while Mdk 7.x comes with various versions of rpm 3.x). [newbie] Eterm question?
Is anyone using Eterm? I like it, better than the stock xterminal that Mandrake comes with. I do have a question or two though. I would love to see it do the "viewport" mode listed in the man pages, but I can't quite seem to get the syntax down pat. Do you have to create your own user.cfg file (and where does it go?) because I can't find one with it. Also, I have my control and caps-lock keys remapped, but Eterm reverses them, each and every time its run. (so its not a major prob.-I just rerun it to fix it, but...) ;-) Thanks! ;-)
